Fabulous and unique hotel

We loved this hotel - the staff were super friendly, spoke excellent English and couldn't do enough to help. I had spent quite some time researching Copenhagen hotels - every time I found one that looked good, I read all the Trip Advisor reviews and was put off. Eventually I found this one and I'm very glad I did. It's a truly organic hotel which is something unusual (not that that's what we were looking for, but it just happened to be so). The rooms were an adequate size (for European standards), with a 4 poster bed and there was lots of room under the bed to store cases. The modern bathroom had lovely organic products and the organic breakfast was extra-special - you can even squeeze your own fresh orange juice. We can highly recommend this hotel, which is a little bit away from the Tivoli Garden (centre of town), but easily accessible (approx 5 - 10 mins) with the excellent bus system every 5 mins (and the staff even lent us local currency to catch the bus on our first day and gave us excellent instructions on how to get about cheaply).

Very much enjoyed my stay at the Bertrams Hotel Guldsmeden.

The hotel has a special feel to it. Rooms are very comfortable and well equipped, and the breakfast is exceptional. Moreover, the hotel staff was very friendly.

However, please be aware that although the hotel is in the center of Copenhagen, it is somewhat peripheral to the places where the main tourist attractions are in the city and the hotel is located on a busy street.

We stayed here in August 07 for a couple of days at the end of our trip from Australia. We found the location of the hotel really cool - it's in a vibrant, ethnicy, slightly boho up and coming neighbourhood, though very much in walking distance of town and some really swanky areas too. Both of our rooms were pretty small, but the beds were comfy and the rooms themselves were clean. Perrenial concerns about lack of stowage space in hotel rooms generally, remained an issue here because of the small room space. The hotel's own organic toiletries were excellent and the staff were generally really friendly, charming and helpful. The breakfast was good but prob not as fabbo as some people in the hotel's guest book have said. If you're heading to CPH for just a few days I'd really reccomend Bertrams - location, cleanliness of rooms and helpfulness of staff being key. If you were plannng a slightly longer stay the general compactness of the place might just get a little annoying.

Delightful oasis of calm in central Copenhagen

We stayed for four nights at Bertrams as part of our honeymoon. We arrived exhausted (and far too early) after a long journey on our first day and our room wasn't yet ready. Whilst we waited the friendly and welcoming staff served us complimentary coffee, chocolates and fruit in the courtyard garden and kept us updated on progress in servicing our room. This standard of care continued throughout our stay: the hotel staff even arranged for surprise flowers to celebrate our wedding which were delivered to our (delightful) room. The breakfasts were excellent but we can also recommend the superb evening buffets served in the most relaxed style in the small dining area and garden. The hotel feels like a real oasis in what can be a busy city. Although the location might feel a little out of the way (and Vesterbrogade not the most glamourous of Copenhagen's streets) it is a straightforward walk or bus ride into the centre and we enjoyed the opportunity to explore Fredericksborg and the surrounding area.

Great hotel with european charm

I stayed here with my wife at the end of May for 3 nights and had a great time. The room for a Junior Suite was nicely appointed and had a comfortable bed. The staff was really great and helpfull with getting around. Get to know the #6 bus outside the main entrance of the hotel and your 5 min. to everything. The breakfast was really good and we recommend the dinner there if you have the chance. Free WiFi is a bonus. We would return in the future, but I would look around . I would say 3 1/2 star's in the States and 4 star's in Europe.

Relaxed luxury, loved it!

If you are looking for a romantic boutique hotel - you can't do better than this. We had a spacious bright room with a lovely balcony towards the courtyard. Great for some Carlsberg-drinking in the afternoon! It's not so much more expensive to get a room with a balcony (about 200 DKK), and in the spring and summer absolutely worth it. Breakfast was, just as other reviewers have stated, brilliant. And the bed was marvelous - like a throne full of wonderful fluffy pillows and comforters.

About the same price as some of copenhagens boring and expensive business hotels. It's about a 15 minute walk from the trainstation, but the area where it's in is quite fun in a scruffy way.

Nice, but one of four stars is tarnished

We got a very warm welcome by the staff and a free drink as compensation for a problem with our reservation. When I got to the room there was no electricity. The manager came up and promptly moved me to another room as he could not fix the problem immediately.
The room was clean, nicely kept and decorated but small. Had I a regular size suitcase with me, I would have had problems to keep it open and walk in the room as the same time. The bathroom was also sparkingly clean but definitely too small for a four-star hotel. Flat screen TV & (functioning!) wireless internet connection were helpful services. Good breakfast though the room is again small.
Overall a positive experience despite of little inconvenience.

great rooms-terrible service

Me and my boyfriend stayed here one weekend in mars. The room were very nice, beautiful with a huge bed and large bathroom with cute bathtub. But I agree with some rewiews that the service is not so good. For xample I called to the reception to ask for an iron, and was told that if they had time they would come up with it.(??) When i said I could get it myself, i was told they would come up with it right away. The iron never came.

At breakfast( wich is good) the young man taking care of it were stressed and irritated and actually shouted at me when he thought i couldnt handle the juice press. Then he starred at me every time i came to get something as if i would destroy somethng elese. Very strange. SO - if you want good service- stay somewhere else. If you dont care - stay there for romantic rooms and nice and comfortable beds.

The staff is friendly. The rooms are small but nicely appointed. The breakfast is amazing, however, if you have a chance eat dinner there. It is an organic buffet that rivals anything Copenhagen has to offer.

Top Local Tips for Copenhagen

Learn to use the Public Transportation The Buses are easy to use and cheaper than Taxi. The city is expensive so try to save where you can. People are friendly and things are easy to get to.

Spicylicious We enjoyed this Vietnamese/Thai restaurant very much - it's in the 'Soho' style area of the city, but we walked there and back from our hotel - about 10 - 15 mins. Our hotel staff recommended it and they were right.
