Historical Traveller Reviews of Ventana Hotel Prague
great location, friendly staff
from budvarmanThe interior of the hotel is clean, quiet, and nice with lots of stone surfaces and nice decoration. The nifty glass elevator in the center of the hotel is unique. The breakfast is very good and very comfortable, with a nice setting and friendly staff that will recognize you and take good care of you. I can't think of anything bad to say about the place...all the fixtures and what-not worked fine.
Beautiful loft room in the Old Town
from mikey47We were met at the airport by the hotels' limo and it was a short 25 minutes drive into town.
We had booked the deluxe room but got upgraded to the loft deluxe on the top floor in the roof space. This is a two storey area with sitting area below and modern four poster and bathroom upstairs.
Everything was immaculate and done in light wood and cool pastel colours.
There was little noise from outside at night but the roof light windows, with remote controls for the blinds, did not allow a very good view off the city below. A third floor room would be better for that.
Breakfast in the morning was included and of very good quality and choice.
The staff are very professional and helpful, especially Ema.
We will return!
Outstanding, Amazing, Perfect, Wonderful, Hotel
from BobandcoPeaceful comfort in historic centre
from ReflectiveLovely hotel
from CamelClassI had booked a single-occupancy only room directly on the hotel's website at a very good rate and was fearing that the room would be very small. Thankfully this was not the case at all, I got a very spacious, nicely appointed room with twin beds. This may have been a small upgrade due to the hotel not being full but there's really not much sense in appointing a single traveller with two rather narrow beds insteas of a queen or king. Otherwise, the room was very pleasant, TV with a enough foreign channels, air-con, safe, minibar with plenty of space for your own drinks, bathrobe, slippers ... everything youd' normally expect in a 5 star hotel. The bathroom was also over-average in size, with a large tub and two sinks. Beware of the shower curtain though, it has the tendency to fall down!
Breakfast was included in the rate and offered a nice selection of excellent cold choices, especially the breads were outstanding, coffee and juice were good as well. Staff here were very friendly and efficient. But I don't see why a small 5 star hotel serves the warm breakfast items buffet style. Obviously a cook is in the house preparing the eggs and bacon so why not just offer these items to the few guests a la carte? Less waste and a lot more enjoyable to eat, I simply won't touch eggs that have been on a heater for hours, free or not.
Laundry service was the quickest I've ever experienced, returned in less than 6 hours, not cheap but not overly expensive either. Receptionists were helpful with a few questions I had. All in all I had a very pleasant stay at the Ventana but due to the lacking facilities (restaurants, health club), I'd realistically rate it a nice four and not a bona fide five star hotel. This is fine with me, I rarely use a hotel's facilities and really only care about the room. If my room had been with a king sized bed and breakfast had been a la carte, it would have been almost perfect.
My only real complaint is that the taxi I requested to take me to the train station (which is 10 minutes away) turned out to be a limo service. The car wasn't anything special, it just didn't have a taxi sign on the top. The short drive to the train station cost more than the regular cab fare from the airport (520 Krone!!!). This is a huge ripoff, not at all uncommon to Prague I must say. I don't know if the hotels get a cut from these outrageous fare, if they do, they should be ashamed of themselves.
The best staff in Prague!
from PastorCatApproximately one month ago, I began making arrangements for an extensive vacation through Europe. Towards that end, I have researched many online travel sites, and thoroughly read both travel forums and blogs to discover inside tips about locations and hotels. After hundreds of hours of research, I picked approximately 30 hotels to contact to explore for our vacation. In the end, my fiancée and I are traveling for three weeks, over two continents, in seven cities, across six countries, on three trains and five flights with four airlines… and staying with seven hotels. The devil is in the details, and on a trip like this, there are an awful lot of details.
Consistently, the most detail oriented, helpful and friendly staff I had contact with in all of Europe were the folks at the Ventana. In fact, I can honestly say, they were the most competent hospitality professionals of any hotel I’ve ever dealt with.
...and yes, the rooms are stunning.
Absolutely Stunning!
from 13BlackwoodThe stunning Suite, which we were delighted to be given, had double-doors which opened on to a balcony overlooking Old Town Square - almost brought tears to the eyes (I've attached a picture, though it doesn't have quite the same impact as actually being there!).
Lovely parquet floors, soft bathrobes, and an amazing bathroom with the finest toiletries only served to enhance the time we had.
Would go back in a second.
Hotel Ventana, Prague: Excellent Hotel!
from PhillipDrummondLOCATION
As others have commented, the location is perfect (once you have found the correct side of Cetana No. 7!). It sits a few yards from all the sights of the Old Town Square, and right alongside the remarkable Church of Our Lady before Tyn, whose fairtytale towers we could glimpse through our various (electronically controlled) skylights and portholes.
ROOMS
The Fourth Floor attic lofts are huge, with a large bathroom, lounge (which includes a small kitchen unit), and a balcony-style bedroom reached via a glass-sided flight of stairs. The rooms are chic and modern, done out in blonde wood and cream colours, with simple but effective seating (in this case a sofa and a small club armchair), very comfortable bedding, and a TV on both levels. Exposed beams remind one of the history. Perfect temperatures are maintained throughout.
SERVICES
Breakfast is of good quality, served in the library as the hotel does not yet have a full-scale restaurant. Room service is of good quality but very limited - three salads and four pastas - although there are plenty of places to eat close by. Reception staff are very helpful with matters such as restaurant bookings. The pressing service is very efficient.
SUGGESTION
One small suggestion: the music radio played in the otherwise attractive lobby and in the breakfast room is a real disappointment - silence (or more appropriate music in a city which is so rich in the musical heritage) would be golden and would better match the quality and aspirations of the hotel, as well as encouraging one to linger a little longer. But overall, to repeat: a fine hotel!
Everything we could have wanted

from croakeyTop Local Tips for Prague
Eating Out If you're on a budget, don't eat in the very touristy places, such as on the Old Town Square as it will cost you a lot! Travel down the side streets and you will get a great meal for half the price!
Getting tickets, getting there We had a gret experience with Stone Bell Travel Services who seem expert at tickets to opera, theater and other events, and also airport/hotel travel arrangements
Restaurants Locals know the best places to eat. The cafes on the square are a great place to watch the clock and people, but the food is expensive and so so.

Negative point: impossible to park the car and almost impossible to arrive by taxi.
