Great budget hotel

I've actually stayed at this hotel twice over two years now, so I must like it! There is nothing flash or luxurious about the hotel, but then it isn't expensive so you wouldn't expect that. It's clean, modern and quiet in your room, the road outside doesn't penetrate the double glazing. The hotel was not built that long ago and everything still has a new and fresh feeling about it. The breakfast is relativly expensive (8 EUR) and possibly not to every international traveller's taste (soup for breakfast??), but it's an optional extra and it's buffet style so you can probably find something there you like. The hotel is a 15-20 minute walk from Charles Bridge and the old town etc, but there is a metro station and tram stop just over the road from the hotel which can whisk you round the city very cheaply and quickly. the hotel is also right next to a big modern 'shopping mall' (biggest in Prague) which also contains a large supermarket that is very useful.

The hotel was very clean, bright and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. I had no complaints. It would be better if you asked for reviews sooner after staying at the hotel, as then comments would be fresher in a person's memory.

Top Local Tips for Prague

Taxis Just be carefull. Prague has a bad reputation for bogus taxi companies, we experienced this on our way back to the airport, but it was too late, and we just had to accept the situation.

trams Make sure you pick up an up to date tram schedule and check the name on the front of the tram for the direction.

Black Light Theatre- Ta Fantastika- Aspects of Alice If you are theatrically minded or just want to try something different and very European, I would recommend this theatre experience. The theatre is right by the Charles Bridge. Its like a time warp. As you enter a pianist is playing on a baby grand in the corner. Strains of " Maria" " hello Dolly and other music from the shows as you hand over your coat to the cloakroom lady. A gong summons you into the auditorium to take your seat. There is absolutely no dialogue so language is not a problem. Six young people provide a truly memorable experience as they weave the story of Alice loosely interwoven with the History of Prague in a very entertaining way. The quirkiest Theatre performance ever which cannot be missed.
