We had previously requested a back room as we read it was noisy. The receptionist, who was not very friendly, gave us a side room which was still noisy, VERY small, sparse curtain, light from passage pouring in through door frame which was disturbing. An impression of seediness. The bathroom was clean and warm -lovely. The towels however need replacing badly. Breakfast was good and people friendly.

The hotel provided everything we needed including a quite but central location. The breakfast was good the room quality too and the staff were very pleasant.

Top Local Tips for Prague

don't be fooled by 3 star ratings for hotels Rather go for a 4 star hotel - 3 star might be cheaper but you get less than you pay for

Vysehrad & TV tower One stop past IP Pavlova on the red metro line is Vysehrad - the origins of the city of Prague. A nice working class neighbourhood, great restaurants, spectacular views, great park and ramparts wall walk and the churchyard where Smetena and Dvorak are buried. Nearby are fine examples of cubist buildings. In early March when Charles Bridge and Old Town Square are full of tourists the park in Vysehrad was full of locals doing what locals do - walking dog, children in buggies and the occasional jogger. The guidebooks say go up to Petrin Hill to escape the crowds - my tip is go to Vyserhrad. The other surprise was that in March when I went to Prague and the sky was clear one could see the TV tower from Petrin and the Castle but when I got there I found 6 people in total in the viewing area and none in the restaurant. The view is superb - 360 degrees from 474m above sea level. There is an observation deck on level 8 and a cafe and restaurant on deck 5 - both very good value.

Pragues largest shopping mall Take the tram to Andel, and visit the mall. There's alot of english shops, so if you have them at home, you don't have to come here...
