I pre-booked this hotel as a surprise for my husband's 50th birthday. I chose a nice suite as it was a special occasion. Although I made the booking over the internet, I telephoned the hotel a few weeks before our arrival to enquire if the suite would be large enough to accommodate our daughter (a young adult) who decided to come with us. The person on the reception desk spoke English very well and said that the room was not large enough to accommodate 3 but, there was plenty of room at the hotel for me to make a further booking for another room. She also confirmed that our booking was made and secure and already had all our details. I made my daughter's reservation through a different website than I had booked through for ours and the full amount was charged at the time of this booking to my credit card. Unfortunately, our flight was delayed by a few hours and the car hire company was closed when we arrived at the airport - we had to wait around for the car hire company's rep to arrive back at the desk. We did not arrive at the hotel until almost midnight - when we arrived a lady at the reception who spoke very little English looked very surprised when we arrived and informed her that we had booked reservations. She said that she had no knowledge of our booking (or that we had ever made one) but, had our daughter's. This was strange as I had spoken a few weeks earlier to a person who confirmed that our booking was there. The receptionist could speak German which thankfully our daughter speaks fluently. My husband and myself could be put up in the only room they had available and we could only stay there for one night - this was not the nice suite that I had envisaged we would be in. I took with us the print off of our booking but the receptionist said that she knew nothing of it. When up in our room, my daughter telephoned the company I made the booking with - which was to America - and the lady she spoke to there could not understand this as the hotel had been faxed with our booking and it had been confirmed. The next day - another hotel was found for us - which turned out to be much nicer and brighter.
