Historical Traveller Reviews of Hotel Roma
Nice, but Average
from DKandB
We stayed at this hotel with our friends who have 2 children, the hotel is "kid-friendly". The rooms are clean and large and the location is great, its right on a main tram line and only a short walk from Charles Bridge, the Castle and most of the main attractions. There are also several other good restaurants in the immediate area of the hotel. Its a "good" hotel, the staff are nice and its clean, its just not superlative in any way, its a good solid average hotel and a good pick if you are looking for a decent place, for a modest amount of money in a good location. The hotel is NOT air-conditioned, however, and does NOT have ceiling fans and IS located on a fairly well travelled street so if you have the windows open at night, you do get a lot of noise from traffic and passers-by. Even if going in fall/winter, I would still recommend trying to reserve a room on the backside of the hotel away from the street.
Perfect Honeymoon Hotel

This place was great. Perfect location, in between everything but not real busy around it. Bohemia Cafe right next to it is great and cheap. The hotel staff is very helpful. THere is also free internet downstairs. The room was gorgeous
Excellent choice--location and value

Stayed May 19-22, 2006. Location was convenient---quiet but walkable to all sites and tram stop right out front of hotel. Breakfast selection greater than at most hotels. Staff helpful and room was very large and clean. I highly recommend this hotel.
Lovely quiet location

We were nervous that this hotel was a little out of the way, but that was a definate advantage as we were away from the busy parts of Prague but so handy for the wonderful sightseeing areas of this beautiful city. The room was spacious (even though there were three of us), very clean and the breakfast was all we could want. We took our own tea making facilities and that was not a problem. We did not use the gym, or the bar as there was no reason to stay in, there are so many things to do and see, we certainly got enough exercise and sufficient lubrication! We would all recommend this hotel.
Roma in Prague: quite a strange idea, but a very nice hotel
from A TripAdvisor Member
Well, it seems quite strange to stay in Prague in a hotel inspired by Italian Renaissance art, but as it was fake art, and as Prague is rather like a pseudo mitteleuropa disneyland (too new, too clean for an old european eye like mine...) it did not seem to be that important. And indeed, I was far from disappointed. The lobby (with the pseudo Italian Renaissance sculptures mentionned above, together with an aquarium ...) gave a weird yet comfortable feeling. The room was very big, very comfortable, very clean, and I must confess I loved the tiles on the floor. Breakfast was also very good, served in a nice looking room. But, above all, don't miss the gym room: I've never seen so many instruments in a hotel room in all my life! of course, nobody was practising, but it really was fun looking at. I strongly recommend this hotel, which, above all, is situated not far from the very center of the town, yet quite far enough for a customer not to be too much disturbed by the hordes of tourists jumping out of their travelling bus. The hotel has no restaurant, but just near it, you will find a very good pub, "quite" authentic, at least, when it is not occupied by fifty german tourists as it was the case the second time I went there...
Great Hotel

super hotel, pleasant staff, reception area very impressive. The rooms are spacious and clean and the bathroom was also very spacious and the fittings are of a high quality felt a shower screen would have been good. Good choice of continental breakfast and the staff were very efficient. Only a 10 min walk from Charles Bridge also castle was easily reached from the hotel on foot. Excellant restaurant next door which was recommended by the hotel (Bastille).Would certainly use this hotel again would be our first choice.
Fab Location
from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed at the Hotel Roma at the end of February for 4 nights with my husband, my friend and her husband. We were all very impressed with the hotel. The rooms were spacious and had fab bathrooms. Breakfasts were varied and there was always more than enough to choose from. The staff were very friendly and helpful with advice regarding directions and tram tickets. The hotel has a prime location and is only a 10 minute walk from the spectacular Charles Bridge. You must see it during the day and night! The area around the hotel, houses lots of restaurants, so there is no need to venture too far for your evening meal. Prague is a beautiful city, with very friendly people and I would recommend it to everyone.
Nothing special!

We stayed here for five days from 28th Dec -3rd January 06 to celebrate New year.
We arrived at the hotel and were greeted by friendly staff which was s good start . We then checked into our room which were very basic. We had two single beds pushed together and when we asked about this we were advised that all beds are like this except for the apartments. There was no tea and coffee making facilities in the room and overall very small. We had drinks out of the mini bar on the first night and the used glasses where still there 3 days later until we brought them down stairs ourselves.
The Hotel lacks in atmosphere and has very little character especially in the Lobby which should be the heart of the Hotel with a good vibe. The bar closed at 9.00 most evenings which at this time of year was surprising. The brekafast was standard for buffet.
Overall the Hotel is clean and staff friendly but if you are looking to relax in comfort and have a little atmosphere then this is not the place to stay. I would defintely not recommend this for a holiday for a romantic break away as it caters more for one night stop overs for business.
I booked this Hotel as most of the reviews I read were very good but was very disapointed when we arrived.
Roma is the business!!

Spent 3 nights at the Roma last week and it was excellent. This hotel is really well located for all your sightseeing, the staff were polite and helpful and the buffet breakfast superb. The rooms do not have tea or coffee making facilities for security purposes,so take your own. This was one of the cleanest hotels we have ever seen and we will definitely stay here on our next visit to this stunning city.
great hotel
from mmcgreg0r
just returned from a wonderful 3 night stay in the beautiful city of prague and wanted to thank tripadvisor for helping me chose a great hotel. the roma was spacious -an attic room with huge bathroom,no bath, twin beds, lots of storage and even a separate dining table and chairs. very good cold buffet breakfast, excellent service and great location, within 10 -15 mins walk to charles bridge and only 5 mins to fernicular railway up to petrin hill, but all sights were closed - but a great walk down. we would certaintly stay in this hotel again I only hope its not too long.
Top Local Tips for Prague
Be prepared
Take comfortable shoes and visit as many sights as you can, including taking a trip up Petrin Tower.
Go wth AAA they're the best
At airport ignore other taxi companies and cross the road to where an AAA taxi organiser will call up a cab for you. Clean cars (mostly yellow in colour) and many drivers speak English and the charge is determined by organiser before you get in and is correct!
Cheap trams
Buy your tram tickets from a Tabac or hotel. Just hop on the relevant tram- 22 very good for castle and Charles Bridge and 9 for Wenslaslas Square. Validate ticket in the machine. Time starts from then, so if you buy 5 seventy minute tickets you can use them when you require.
My only moan with the hotel, being a non smoker was the stale smoke smell in the room.
