great service
from mole1
Enjoyed a very pleasant stay with my wife, staff and service both excellent as was the food in "Hot" although fairly pricy worth the extra money as Czech food not the best !
Stayed 3 nights which was more than enough to see all sites in Prague which has changed a lot since my last visit 10 yrs ago with prices much higher also a mecca for stag/hen weekends.

A fabulous hotel, smack bang in the middle of wenceslas square. Great location - Great service very friendly and helpful staff. The only thing this hotel lacks is a hospitality tray. Would certainly highly recommend this hotel to anyone and would love to visit again. Prague is an absolutly beautiful city.

just returned from a three night stay at this hotel for my birthday. the hotel rooms were spacious and very clean.
the staff were very friendly and helped us out with everything we needed to know.
the hotel was in an excellent location and managed to find all the sites easy enough.
being a travel agent myself i would recommed this hotel.

Lovely Quiet Hotel - Great Location

My boyfriend (by the end of the trip - fiancee) stayed here and we have no complaints!!! It is located in a great location short walk from everywhere - jewish quarter, old town square and charles bridge and is on the main shopping street!. We asked for a room on the top floor after reading previous reviews as we didnt want to be kept awake all night - we also got a balconey which gave us a lovely view of dirty rooftops!
The hotel restuarant is expensive by Prague standards but a 3 course meal for two (starters not great but yummy main courses and dessert to die for) plus bottle of wine works out at about 70 euros not bad!.
There are loads of pizza bars nearby and TGI is only a short walk away. The staff coming up to our visit were excellent really friendly although our driver from the airport would not have been out of place in an ABBA tribute band was a lunatic on the roads!!!
All in all good location for short break!......oh yeah.....loads of free apples!!! :-)

Great hotel, great location

Stayed for 4 nights with hubby for our anniversary. I had requested the hotel to arrange for a car to collect us. Cost was 750kc, organised to perfection. Our room was at the back of the hotel on the 7th floor. There was a bottle of champers and red wine awaiting us. A lovely welcome. The room was small but beautiful and very clean. The view from the balcony was not great, but hey we had a balcony.
Breakfast was a great buffet affair, yes the number of tables is limited for such a large hotel but the staff were superb and I never saw anyone waiting for a table. The food was yummy too.
We went to Rocky O'Reilly's Irish Bar to watch the rugby, great Steak Sandwich there! Good atmosphere, good service. Also ate in the Czech Restuarant 5 doors down from the hotel, traditional Czech but did not come near to Hot (Hotels own restuarant) price or quality. Speaking of which I cannot recommend this restuarant enough, the food is fabulous.
Asked the hotel to arrange a shuttle bus to take us back to the airport 480kc. We were the only ones on the bus and went direct, could save some money there!!Once again organised to perfection.
The only negative aspect is that the aircondition is being modified and it was warm in the room. This work is due to be complete at the end of this month. Prague is a great place to visit, not cheap. This hotel is in a good location to be based. Take good walking shoes, all the streets are cobbled.

What a difference a year makes.......

Having had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Jalta last year, we recently booked a return stay as a family group. We returned as a party of eight people plus a small baby and our problems began on check in. Having booked four rooms for 3 nights on a B&B basis, we were advised on check in that at the time our booking was made, the hotel was only selling rooms on a room only and that we would therefore have to pay extra for breakfast, should we wish to take it. The Front Desk and Reservations staff were unmoving in their stance and surly in their responses, finding our disagreement with the rate amusing whilst at the same time making comments in Czech, no doubt about us, whilst we tried to sort the matter out. Lastminute also attempted to resolve the matter on our behalf as we had booked through them but they received the same response. On getting to our rooms, we discovered the air conditioning is currently out of action due to refitting, one of the two lifts is out of order (indefinitely) and that there are various works going on in the stair-wells and along corridors which is unsightly and difficult to navigate around; none of which is advised on booking/prior to arrival. The room was small and not cleaned as well as last year; the only consistent feature seems to be that the hotel telephone charges are still as extortionate. We also tried to arrange our airport transfer through the hotel having done so last year but this time they tried to charge us 90 euros; we booked it through a local operator and paid half that amount. All in all, easily the most disappointing of our three stays in Prague. I will no longer recommend this hotel to friends/colleagues due to the poor value for money, exceptionally low standards of service and the ongoing renovation/construction works within the hotel. In addition, the location of the Hotel is no longer the best as Wenceslas Sq itself seems to have become increasingly commercialised, touristy and somewhat ‘seedy’ over the last twelve months. That said, the rest of the City remains timeless and is absolutely beautiful; I would definitely recommend Prague as a fantastic place to visit. However, I would absolutely not recommend this hotel and will never consider staying there again.
Great atmosphere and location.

Spent two nights at the Jalta and was really pleased with the experience. Rooms were comfortable and well furnished although the service at the front desk was not four star standard, bell-boy watched as we lugged bags to our room! However the location is fantastic, close to everything, and the bar and restaurant were superb. No complaints for the money.
beautiful hotel

Me and my husband have just spent a weekend in this wonderful hotel. I asked for a nice room as we were celebrating our tenth wedding anninversary and we wern't dissapointed. We had a room at the front of the hotel on the third floor with a double balcony, the room was spotless and the bed massive. The hotel it's self is in the middle of the square and very handy to go sight seeing from. The staff were very helpful and polite. Sitting in the resturant/bar area at the end of the night drinking cocktails and people watching was excellent.
4 star??
from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed before in the Andel hotel. Also 4 star so we could compare.
The most disappoining was the batroom. Too small for 4 star and the combination of shower in bath is not a 4 star worth. The shower was that low that even my partner of 1.80 meter could not stand straight under the shower.
Situation is excellent, middle of Old Town, Price is too high!! compared to hotels also in the neighbourhood

Top Local Tips for Prague
pssstt Charlie??? Be wary of the amount of people around the old town square area that are attempting to sell you drugs. We must have been asked about 30 times in 5 days. If you're after the drugs then i suggest you hang around the square after dark, if not dont answer and carry on walking.
Comfy Shoes! Make sure that you take comfy shoes with you. All of the streets are cobbled and I can gaurantee that you will walk for miles, it's the best & easiet way to get around.

Firstly as an experienced traveller i expect to apay that little bit more for telephone calls made from the hotel room, but man do these guys see you coming....2 ten minute phone calls within the EU and i was charged over $100!!!
This was after i consulted (and was misled) by the telephone charges card they leave in the room. Complaints fell on deaf ears.
The rooms were nowhere near 5 star standard - it was exactly the same as most 3 star Hotels.
The Hotel Jalta bar staff were friendly, the reception staff consistently bewildered, the taxi staff surly, and the maintenance staff very busy on the constantly broken elevator.
Finally DO NOT opt for the Hotel Jalta run taxi service, it costs twice as much to get you to the airport than it would a local operator.
