The Axa is a basic tourist hotel. The location is what makes it stand out as suberb value for money.It is a ten min stroll from the old town sq. We stayed in January 2005 and again in Jan 2006. It was clean and warm and the water was always hot for the shower.
There is a huge range available at the self service breakfast which is served until 11. Cold meats, cheese, eggs, fresh ruit,jams,pate,yogurt. A huge variety of breads and a toaster available.Juice Tea coffee and chocolate. What lets the food down is the poor choice of cooked breakfast items:- beans and frankfurters and hard boiled eggs. It didn't bother me but my daughter likes bacon and eggs.
There is a swimming pool in the basement which you have to pay a small fee to use but it was clean and well maintained.You can book an inexpensive massage at the pool. Very thorough masseur.
Between Nam Rep & Florenc metros and on tram route.

This hotel is well located yet the rooms are tiny, dark and not exactly clean. The staff unfriendly - when we wanted to change the room, they asked for extra charge. The breakfast was poor and the quality definitely did not correspond with the price we had to pay. We will never return to this property although we loved Prague!

Top Local Tips for Prague

Public transport pass. Buy a pass for unlimited public transport travel before you leave the airport. The desk is situated almost opposite the arrivals door. There are three and seven day passes and longer ones for locals. A seven day pass costs very little more than a three day pass so if you are staying 4 or 5 days buy a 7 day pass. You will need to validate it in the yellow machine at the metro station or on the bus ONLY ONCE the first time you use it. We stayed 5 days last time and gave the unexpired passes to the chamber maid.
