Top Local Tips for Prague

Tour Guide I just came back from Prague and there is so much to see and do you would need a month. I had 4 days, but I hired my own tour guide, Katarina Kruspanova, www.prague-perfect.cz and she took me just where I wanted to go and showed some places I didn't know about. She was so knowledgeable about the history, architecture, culture. I know I saw so much more becaus of her. The Old Town Square was my favorite, definitely go up into the Old Town Hall Tower to get a view of the Town Square and the city. You must cross Charles Bridge and see St. Vitus Cathedral and the Castle. My tour guide even took me out of town to my ancestors village and a fascinating city called Kutna Hora with a unique bone chapel, garlards of skulls and crossbones draped everywhere and a chandelier made up of all of the bones in the human body. I also saw the beautiful St. Barbara's Cathedral. I can't wait to go back and see more and I'll definitely hire Katarina to show me.

Prague in the summer Prague is a walking city. Wear very comfortable shoes and you can travel anywhere by foot. You can always jump on a tram if you get tired or if you want to get quickly to the highest part of the city and enjoy the views. In the summer take layers and enough light weight clothing for your stay. The weather can be changeable. In July there were days in the mid 90's [the higher elevations are cooler.] Get a centrally located apartment with air-conditioning. That way you can take a mid-day break and cool down. Regarding crowds, the first part of July was less crowded as, apparently, some EU schools don't get out until mid July.
