Superb - Green Garden Hotel, in the centre of Prague

We would highly recommend the Green Garden Hotel for its customer service, cleanliness and location. Its only around a 10 min walk to the centre of Prague, but the easily navigated metro system is also just a short walk away. We had dinner in the restaurant on our first night and it was excellent value for money in lovely surroundings. The rooms were warm and cozy. This is a hotel I would definately book in to again should I visit Prague in the future.

The hotel, staff and faciilities are wonderful. The staff work exceptionally hard, and are always ready to help. The breakfast was very good, continually topped up, so plenty for everyone. Evening menu had plenty of choices. The bedroom and en suite were beautiful, comfortable and exceptionally clean.
Will definatley return.

Historical Traveller Reviews of Green Garden Hotel

Not bad but not what was advertized

from hjr006
We stayed at this hotel for three nights at the beginning of July. We specifically selected this hotel as it was centrally located and AIR CONDITIONED. We specifically booked a smoking room that was airconditioned. We checked into the hotel only to be informed that we were allocated to a room that was non-smoking and non-airconditioned. Lukily Prague was having a bit of a cold spell while we were there thus the air conditioning was not an issue. But, be aware that you may not receive an air conditioned room.
The hotel is clean and the staff were friendly and helpful.
It is situated between two incredibly busy roads and we found we were awakened early in the morning by the trucks even with the windows closed.
I would stay here again, but I would also likely look around to see what else is available.

Could be Better

from BrunoScotland
Stayed for 3 nights. On our arrival we were allocated Room 510, when we entered the room it was pretty awful. Carpets, walls, pictures on walls all left a lot to be desired. The shower tray was chipped in many places. The towel had at least 6 holes in it and lots of stains. When I complained to reception I was told that I would probably be moved that evening, however this did not happen as they told me hotel was fully booked. Next morning 1st thing I was back at reception, and at last got moved - to a room that was beautiful - Room 101 - you would think we were in a different hotel. It is obvious that some parts of this hotel are in need of renovation.
Our second complaint was the hot breakfast - or lack of it. If you went for breakfast in the last hour of serving, you were lucky to get a couple of small sausages. When the staff were asked for more they told us 'sorry there is no more'. There was plenty of other 'cold' foods to eat, and the breakfast room was lovely & clean. We won't be back at this hotel - sorry!

Enjoyable Stay

from misterh60
We had a great time in Prague at Easter. The hotel is fairly central but between busy roads - noisy if you need the windows open, although there is air con. The rooms are well equipped and comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed the breakfasts - big choice of cereal, scrambled egg, bacon, breads, ham and cheese, sweet bakes, fruit and good coffee.
The receptionist may have been grumpy when harassed but she was very helpful. I think in general, the Czech people seem to be quite dour.
We ate in the hotel and it was okay but to be honest, better value could be had elsewhere. We would recommend Legenda (on the main road nearby), Pivovarsky Dum (micro brewery a couple of blocks away - must book in the evening) and Ungelt jazz pub (behind the church in the old town square).

I dont agree with the other reviews

from cabottaxi
We stayed 4 nights in this hotel in a 4 adult suite (2 teenagers ) which consisted of a bed settee for the main bedroom. The room was dingy and smelt 'foosty'. The carpets were dark brown as was the 1960's style furniture. I can honestly state that the room we got ( 407 ) was the worst hotel room i have ever stayed in.After 2 days cleaners were in an adjacent room and we could not believe the difference between the 2 rooms. We complained to reception and were moved into 2 separate 6th floor rooms at no extra cost.It would appear that if your room number is 106/107 206/207 306 /307 and so on then these rooms have not been upgraded and if they are similar to what we got then you are going to be dissappointed. The noise of the traffic will also alarm you especially, if you get one right next to the 4 lane one way road which is adjacent to the hotel.Breakfast was poor with mueseli ( 3 types ) bread rolls, apples and satsumas, tea and coffee. A cooked breakfast comprised of low grade bacon, willi winkie sausages and bland scrambled eggs which because i suffer from a weak immune system passed up on.

A good experience for a 3* hotel apart of the smell in the room

from Pupica
We booked a double and we got an apartment with 2 rooms and a big bathroom with 2 washbasins. We supposed that it was a mistake, but we didn't complain:-).Everything was simple but clean. The personnel was nice and helpful. The only annoying aspect was the bad smell in the room, but we lighted some ondorized candles. We were satisfied with the buffet breakfast that had several choices. Me and my boyfriend really enjoyed our first trip together in this hotel.

fine if you dont spend too much time in the hotel..

from sunshinelb
The hotel is very well situated, 15 mins walk from Wenscles square (all the shopping, Bars & restuarants), and 5 mins walk from metro & tram. Buffet Breakfast was good even though their coffe needs improvement (ask for nescafe & make yr own!!). The rooms are clean and good with a mini bar. The bathroom is a little small though. But the front desk staff really need to learn to smile more. Prague is a beautifull city and we had fun.

Good Location

from Pete_Travelcare
Prague in June was wonderful, fantastic weather, vibrant atmosphere, wonderful architecture and the most beautiful women I have seen. Anyway the Green Garden is in Praha 2 about 10 mins walk from wenceslas square, the rooms are smallish but comfortable with an awful shower and the grumpiest receptionist in europe although it became fun trying to get her to smile. Breakfast was not very impressive but plenty of cheap places to eat which are all within walking distance. To conclude a wonderful city and an average budget hotel within easy reach of attractions don't expect anything with luxury and you will be fine.

Can recommend this hotel.

from SBF.Dublin
Lovely hotel - bedrooms a good size. Location good. Breakfast v.good & it was nice to have a bar for the night-cap before bed - can recommend this hotel without hesitation. If there was to be one negative it would be with the front desk staff - who were not overly friendly.

Excellent hotel in a beautifull city.

Got a cheap flight to Prague. Hotel was fully booked so i was sent to another, The Hotel Green Garden. Can't fault the hotel. Beautifull both outside and in. Room was a bit basic but had everything we needed. Staff were friendly in a sort of eastern European way. Great bar and excellent food in an old beautifully decorated room. Why are modern hotels so souless? This hotel has bags of charachter. It is between two busy roads and it takes 15 minutes walk to Wenceslas square but only five to the nearest tram and metro. Staff are always on hand to help the lost traveller, wondering where to go.
A few Prague tips. Use the trams a lot so buy a day or weekly pass. Drink in the Czech bars, beer half the price of touristy ones, U Zlatecho tygra (The Golden Tiger) Husova 17, hard to find but a true Czech bar favoured by President Havel and Bill Clinton, shop in czech shops for the same reason.

Get a room on the sixth floor!

from A TripAdvisor Member
We were sent to this hotel after the botel we were meant to be staying on had had a fire and was leaking! Lovely first impression, in a great spot - little noisy with windows open as is sandwiched between two busy roads, but very clean, well kept hotel. Staff are friendly as far as Czech people are concerned! Try and get a room on the 6th floor - much to our delight we had been booked in the most perfect room that overlooked the city and amazing views of the fabulous Prague Castle.

Also has spa and massage facilities that looked very appealing if you have the time!

All in all a lovely hotel that topped off our magical visit to this beautiful city!
