Hard to pronounce, easy to stay

A slightly quircky hotel which suited my wife and I down to the ground, we were suprised to learn from the operations manager that the hotel had a bad reputation prior to a management change last March, trust me when I say this has more than been addressed.
My overall lasting impression of the experience at the U Zlate Studne was; apart from the beautiful rooms, that the staff could not have been better, if there was a rating higher than excellent I would award it for the staff attitude alone, we will be returning.

Our stay at the U Zlate Studne was great.
Very welcoming atmosphere, great view over Prague from the rooms and the restaurant (!).
The hotel employees were very service orientated and are running the hotel very customer focused.
We'll definitely come back some day...

Luxury nestling beneath Prague Castle

A truly memorable stay in a really special hotel. We searched long and hard to find just the right place to spend a romantic long weekend in Prague. U Zlate Studne was the perfect choice. It's situated just beneath the castle and in a quiet back street and yet a short stroll from all the sights! So welcoming and luxurious that we were happy to spend time in our room, relaxing and gazing at the spectacular views of Prague. We walked for hours around the city and past many other recommended hotels, all of which were in quite busy areas such as The Old Square and Charles Bridge area.
Kampa Park resaurant was fantastic and pretty pricey as people had said, but sitting on the terrace at night right beside the river was a real treat! (just make sure you book ahead). Apart from the regularly recommended places, we found it so much better to seek out some hidden-away cafes and bars off the main tourist trail- that's when you get to see the 'real Prague'!

My wife and I are experienced travelers and have never written our opionon of any place we select to stay until this time. The experience is one all guests who want to truely "feel special" should enjoy. From the warm greeting/check-in by the professional staff, fine antique furnishings, assistance from the small staff to the quality linens/ bedding in the rooms and heated restroom floors we need not say more. The resturant and view will not dissapoint as well, this you can count on. Also very clean, quiet and orderly. 10 out of 10, one you will always remember! Elegant.

A Wonderful Hotel for a Magical City

If you would like to experience the magic of Prague, "the city of 1,000 spires," U Zlate Studne is a wonderful place to stay. One can enjoy the fairy tale views from this romantic hotel, whether it be from your lovely room or the fabulous restaurant. And the hotel, though nestled next to the castle, is a quiet retreat with a convenient location. You can simply walk to all the major sites during the day and to fine dining establishments in the evening.

This is a wonderful choice -- we would highly recommend staying here. The roooms are beautiful and comfortable, the views of the city unbelieivable and the staff wonderfully helpful and welcoming. You won't be sorry of your this choice.

Intimate in size but huge in service

The location is great, with a back entrance to the castle grounds. Rooms and restaurants have wonderful views of the city. But the prize here is the exceptional staff who seem genuinely pleased that you are their guest.

A Hotel with a View

This is an excellent hotel for the following reasons:
-Our room was nicely decorated, clean, very attractive, well-maintained, and well appointed.
-The area is quiet.
-The service was excellent and attentive.
-The hotel is located on a slight hill giving it excellent reviews of Prague.
-The breakfasts were excellent and the breakfast room was located on the top floor of the hotel looking out over Prague, a pretty spectacular view(one wall of the breakfast room was all glass). For warm weather, there is an outdoor seating area above the enclosed breakfast room.
-The hotel property is actually adjacent to the Prague Castle property and during the day we were able to go directly from the hotel on to the castle grounds. On the other hand, the hotel is located about a half mile from a convenient metro stop so it takes a small amount of walking to get to the Metro to go to the Pest side.

Best Hotel of our Trip!!!

My boyfriend and I stayed here during a recent vacation through Germany and the Czech. From the moment we arrived at the hotel we were astonished by how special it is. During check in we were greeted by a helpful, friendly, very professional staff who immediately offered us champagne or mimosas. They helped us with our every request from maps to dinner reservations to finding the best galleries in Prague.

The rooms are beautiful, equipt with whirlpool tubs, mini bars and tasteful furnishings. (And Molton Brown toilettries).

The hotel has the best views or Prague, we thought the views were even better than those from the castle!
Perhaps the best thing about the hotel is the warm feeling that you get while you are there. It is small and just dripping with local culture and grace. It is almost like staying in a (very wealthy) friend's home, surrounded by cobblestone streets and gardens. I am convinced this is one of the most incredible and unique hotels in Prague and maybe in Europe. If you are looking for class and atmosphere, this hotel is your best choice.

We were a little worried about the location because everyone kept posting that it was "convenient" but also "away from the bustle of Prague." But do not be concerned: the hotel is really close to the Old Town of Prague (where most things are). It is a 2 or 3 minute walk to the bridge, and a 5 to 7 min walk to the center of Old Town, and we are not by any means big walkers. Additionally it is a very well lit walk at night, and it is totally secure because the hotel is next to the Parliament building--there are security guards nearby at all times. And to be honest, Old Town and the nearby areas are very crowded with tourists and now that I have seen it I would never stay there. This is the perfect location.

Overall, a fabulous hotel. The restaurant is also very, very good though a little pricey.

Top Local Tips for Prague

Eat out with a great view. Have a meal in the restaurnat at the Golden Well or on the roof terrace at U Prince. Both have fantastic views of the city.

Maly Buddha and Made in Japan Just up from the castle is a lovely Asian fare called Maly Buddha. The service is quite zen so be prepared to spend some time there. The food was quite good and unusual for the area so it is a treat for those not keen on Goulash. Made in Japan location between Wenceslas Square and the Old Town Square is also a wonderful option. Slightly more expensive but their presentation is quite worth it.
