The Trinidad's location couldn't be bettered, particularly when you have one of the Castle-facing rooms. The Metro station is across the road, the Old Town Square with its sights and eateries just across the river. The place is clean, and our room was a spacious one with a large and well-equipped bathroom. The staff were helpful and friendly, although not always readily available. The Trinidad is a bit of a time machine, too, taking you back to the communist past: the furniture is tacky and pretentious, and the room decor includes large plastic plants. The only real criticism is the breakfast room, which is in the basement with hardly any natural light. Moreover, on several occasions during our stay a bunch of local men were curing their hangovers at the bar while we ate our (very good) breakfast. So, perhaps not your typical four-star hotel, but still good value for money - and lots of local flavor. |
