I returned from this hotel on august the 5th after staying in constantinos the great for 2 weeks. The hotel was lovley and the food was really nice. It seemed to be quite hot in the restaurants though so getting to sit outside was a bonus. The rooms were nice, our air conditioning worked really well, but our shower did brake 3 times which was quite annoying. The staff were really nice, and they're really quick to take your plate once you've finished. The weather was absolutle boiling, we only had one day with a few clouds in the sky and that was still really hot. The hotel is quite close to the main street with all the bars/shops/clubs on which was good. Although going all inclusive is reccomended as its quite expensive there. Overall i reccomended this hotel to many people, and i have read several reviews that say it isn't very nice, in my opinion its one of the best holidays i've ever been on!

This hotel should be down-graded to at best 3 star. If you want a holiday in the Middle of Blackpool then go here. Outside of our window was a 100 Foot fairground ride, below our window was a sceptic tank which was emptied every other day at 6.30 am. Opposite our window was another Hotel which had noisy music blaring away until after 1am every night. The Hotel Air Conditioning is useless, if you are on the top floor prepare to scorch, warm air rises and because the floors do not have working Air Con it gets very Hot. The room Air Con does not cope with the heat which passes around the door frame. The Room itself was clean and well furnished but very small, 3 people sharing without adequate storage space for clothes meant we lived out of our suitcases for 2 weeks. The beds where rock hard and had plastic sheets on which made you sweat and crackled ever time you turned over.
The bathroom was ok but could do with refurbishment. The tiles were dirty and cracked. And all of the room doors slam shut, so if you want a bit of piece and quiet during the day, forget it. The maids slam every door all day long.
Breakfast was fine if you like a fry up every morning, you had to queue for at least 15 minutes for a pancake or omelette and the coffee was terrible. We took to making our own using instant coffee as the coffee machines where useless. 3 Toasters for 1000 people is definitely not enough. The Grounds are too small and if you are lucky or early enough to get a sun bed expect to be surrounded by people who are not staying in the Hotel and using the sun beds free of charge. We also saw Bar Staff serving children with alcohol in exchange for a small fee. Most evenings we had to avoid drunken teenagers hanging around the outside bar. The Pool is too small for the size of the hotel and it was very dirty, the drainage gulleys around the edge are all broken and there are holes you can trap your feet in. We even saw local teenagers using the pool jumping from the Bridge over the pool and one morning saw a staff member fetching broken wood and nails out of the pool. The beach however is excellent and a great way to escape the noise from the Hotel.
The Hotel is not very clean and there was quite a lot of damage which was caused by some of the guests, like ripped wallpaper, damaged light switches, burnt seats and the Carpet in the Dining Room had lifted in several places causing people to trip and spill food. The Evening meals where atrocious, the choice of food was very limited and not well thought out, and became very repetitive. We noticed that some of the meals resembled left over food from breakfast i.e. cold bacon salads, cold boiled egg salads, and cold sausage salads. And the desserts are left on a table for people to cough and sneeze over instead of being under cover and the Ice Cream is not changed daily and we saw kids dipping dirty fingers in and hair floating on top of the vanilla ice cream. The waiting staff are obsessive at dinner with plates being removed whilst you are still eating your last mouthful, and we found we where being rushed to leave which makes sense when you have a full hotel with a very inadequate dining room. The entertainment throughout the day is appalling and at night it was a joke. Overall this Holiday has spoiled our love of Cyprus, and we would never venture to Protarus again. The description in the first choice brochure says “Enjoying an excellent beachside location, this hotel lies in the friendly resort of Protaras. There are a good range of facilities on site, making this attractive accommodation ideal for those looking for a relaxed, beach-based holiday”. This is a lie; we have come back from this holiday exhausted from lack of sleep due to the noise and feel we need another break to get over this one. My advice is to stay away from here unless of course you like Blackpool in the Sun. If not take ear plugs and get drunk every night.
Blackpool with sunshine. What a dump, Noise, Noise, Noise. Karaoke Bars on every corner, Football Hooligans roaming the streets, broken pavements, cars booming loud music all night long. If Ayia Napa is worse god help us all. I feel embarrassed to be English.

This was by far the best holiday I've been on. Constantinos the Great has everything going for it. It is placed centrally along the road through the resort but is set well back so you don't get any noise from the bars shops and restaurants. It is also located right on the beach and I mean right on the beach.

I couldn't fault the hotel, the room was very cleen, very comfortable and with the best air con ever. Admittedly you couldn't hold a conference in the clean and practical bathroom, but I don't really want spectators in the shower with me. We also had an unbroken view of the sea, despite being in a side sea view room.

The food was very tasty and plenty of choice at every meal. The staff are very attentive and don't leave you without a drink or with a dirty plate for long.

The entertainers keep you amused all day with pool side activities if you want to join in but they don't hound you if you don't. The night time entertainment was also good and had a wide variety of shows.

There's no question, when we go back to Cyprus we will go back to Constantinos the Great.

One last comment is that if my praise of the hotel isn't enough, Mr Tsokos himself was staying in the hotel at the same time as us and considering the group owns 140 or so hotels (including the one next door) I think that's pretty high praise!!

In a great location but doesn't really deserve its 5 star rating

When we arrived it was a lovely hotel, staff where fantastic so willing to help and assist. Our only problem really was the food it wasn't the best at all really hard to put a meal together. Were not fussy eaters but we found it difficult, but I suppose some people might have thought it was lovely. The pool area is great and also great if you have children, but beware weekends can be hectic as the locals use the hotel and its beach so it gets really busy. The animation team are always doing things for the children, and also parents round the pool such as darts, table tennis, killer pool and poolside quizzes. When Constantinos opened it would have definitely been a five star but on our visit there we think it deserves a 4!! The managers of the hotel though are always keeping check on things and making sure everything is ok. Mr Tsokkos himself spends allot of time at Constantinos, he mingles in with the crowd though he doesn't give away who he is as we were told by somebody there who we got talking too. It's in a great location just at the top of the road is all your pubs, bars, restaurants which have really competitive prices. Zodiac Karaoke bar is such a happy and friendly place they do lots of buy one get one frees on lots of drinks all day and night, the owners are great people. (Good food 1 child free meal with two paying adults). we hired a car for a couple of days it was 18 pound a day and well worth it we got to see some beautiful places, the roads are easy to work out as they drive on the same side as England(well recommended-windmill car hire at the top of the road nr Constantinos)

Constantinos Beach Hotel Protarus Cyprus.
BEWARE half boarders, you may be asked to relocate full board at a sister hotel! THe COnstantinos is advertised as 5 Star and it certainly isn't the sister hotel arre 4 star and they are even worse! THe CTG rooms are ok but the beds are excrutiating awful and the bathroom is cramped old and shabby. The food is ok, bit boring if are all inclusive, but the quality and quantity is good. The beach is fantastic and the strip (Local shops and restaurants cater for all sorts. All in all its the hotel that lets the whole holiday down.

Top Local Tips for Paralimni

Take plenty of sun cream Go just outside the high season ie June or Sept, one you miss the school hols and two the hottest time of year is from begining of July to the end of August

when to go if you want a qiet hoilday then november is the time to go, very quiet at this time.

Autumn beaks The weather late October break is usually brilliant. Lovely warm days and pleasant evening temperatures. This late in the year there are occasional rain showers and we had hail last time. But the weather normally warms us quickly and it is normally just the odd shower and very occasional thunder storm.
