This hotel is awfull!
I stayed there for 2 nights with my boyfriend and the room was very dirty...The towels are awfully old and I couldn't look at the tv without tears!
I will never recommend it to anyone!

This was a last minute booking. We booked and then read some reviews which left us wondering what were we going to. Well it was no where near what some reports had said. It is a 3 star hotel. We did think the room was small, but after all we were only sleeping in it. It was cleaned every day. The staff were up early and cleaning all areas. We found it spotless and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We were all inclusive and we found all meals of good standard (tho fried eggs not the way we cook them in England)Maybe there could have been more variety at the evening meals. The only down side of this hotel was the fridge and air con. You have to pay extra for it. We just left a window open to cool our room at night and you had to buy bottled water, but by the glass and it was included in package. The pool was very cold,not heated, but we did get in it and once in it was fine.

Arrive home today 15/08/08 hotel was typical 3*** Rrooms were basic. We had 3 rooms, 2 single and 1 double tv and fridge in each room. We had gone all inclusive, food alright for 3 of us, but my husband wouldn't eat anything. There I had to go out to the take away each night and breakfast in the restaurant next door each morning. The fridge in my room never worked. I told them about it when I went back 2 days later. I was told if I wanted it on, it would cost me three and a half euros a day to put it on. Yet the other 2 rooms we had were supplied with a working fridge. I never said anything incase they were not supposed to have it on. When I asked about food at the poolside bar I was told that this was not included in the all inclusive (never heard of this before) We could have as much to drink as we wanted local beer (yak)one night we got 2 bottles of english beer. This cost us 9 euros. Taxis are 8 euros to get in. The hotel staff were really friendly, but I did find the 2 female receptionists, not the girls that cleaned the rooms, the restaurant staff and the bar staff especialy Kiran brilliant. We had a good laugh with him
and last but not least there is ivy or some form of creeping plant which is growing all over the hotel. In some rooms it's starting to cover the windows. I was glad I did not get one of those rooms. If you left any food lying around ,you find that you will get swarms of ants. Hope this is of some help.

Cheap and not cheerful

The hotel is very tired and requires updating but the rooms are kept clean. The aircon was only just working and I had to sleep without covers. We went B&B but the food poor. The pool and surrounding area was very good and the staff in this area friendly. However, the reception staff were unhelpful and sullen - hence our not cheerful heading to this posting. Everything was too much trouble and in the end you tried to avoid even dropping your key off. Paying CYP2 per day for the fridge was ridiculous although they had a small shop area
at reception where you could buy drinks and other products at good prices. Good location with bus stop outside where you could go to main town or Coral Bay at .80cents and bars and restaurants nearby. Adequate for the price but would never recommend it to anyone unless they were strapped for cash.

Good hotel, but very basic

Booked this holiday on the monday before flying out the wednesday, so it was very last minute. The hotel itself is clean, although a little old and tired-looking, but for what we wanted (basically a room to sleep and a place to eat) it did the job.
We stayed HB which was fine too. Breakfast was very much like ive experienced before (i guess its hard to please everyone) so it was cereals, fruit salad, yoghurt, ham, cheese, then sausages, egg, bacon or fried ham and beans. Not sure what lunch was as we ate out, then tea was a choice of fish, pasta, and two choices of meat, with veg and salads etc, with dessert being cakes, fruit and jelly.
All in all the hotel was fine and we had no problems.
Paphos itself is nice too, very pretty and very welcoming.

Staying at the Veronica hotel was an experience. the hotel is in serious need of a makeover. the rooms were comfortable but needed a lick of paint and to say the least a good clean. The food was very poor and not much variety and did not really bear any resemblance to the menu as stated on the wall outside the restaurant. The check in staff are less than helpful and at times seemed quite offish.
It was well situated for local amenities but was a good half an hour walk not the twenty minutes as stated in the brochure from the hotel to the harbour.
On the positive side the swimming pool area was nice and quiet and you can always get a sun bed.
It was ok for a cheap holiday and Paphos is a very nice place with friendly people and lots of nice places to eat and drink (but not this hotel) Paphos is a good place for couples and families but not for the more young free and single revellers

Me and my boyfriend stayed here last August, as we had booked a late holiday and this was one that we where offered, we had never been in Cyrpus before.
The hotel was comfortable but the staff are not friendly at all, tried to avoid them as much as possible, looking at what is advertised as in the rooms our tv did not work, you must pay for the fridge, there was no inhouse video as it says or mini bar, but to be honest none of it mattered as we only used our room to sleep in or relax on the balcony.
The pool was wonderful, it is very private, lovely gardens surrounding, the bar was right beside us and is shaded with lovely seats if you get too hot.
I am going back but would not worry too much about where you are going to stay or how expensive you want a hotel because Paphos is so beautiful and there is so much to do that you will very rarely be in your hotel either way.

Great family run hotel for peace and quiet

Spent a fortnight here and just got back. This hotel was recommended to me by a friend who has been there many times. We just loved it - no loud music, no animators making you do things, just beautiful gardens, lovely rooms, staff that couldn't do enough for you and the lovely owner who built the hotel, petros (Peter) who was always around if you needed anything. If you are a couple or family (with older children) who just want to escape and relax - this is it. great value for money. Lovely garden and pool. Food was fine, even though I am a veggie and my partner a fussy meat eater, we did fine. The hotel is in a great spot - near the beach but in a peaceful position. Best restaurant we found in Paphos - Ficardos, down the street next to the bakery and the Irish pub. Great food and a really memorable experience every time- we ate there a lot. When we were at the Veronica the guests were mainly middle aged and older people. No kids clubs. No gangs of stag parties - that's not the clientele they want and anybody wanting a wild time would be best to look elsewhere. Its a great traditional hotel.

I found the Veronica Hotel to be of a good basic standard.
The bedroom and bathroom were both of a good size and were airconditioned. The bedroom had a fridge and television which, if you wanted to use, cost extra.
The downside was a shortage of hot water, mainly showers and washing was done in luke warm water.
Rooms were cleaned to a good standard as was the rest of the hotel including the public areas and pool area.
I found bar staff, restaurant staff and cleaning staff to be very friendly and helpful. As my wife suffers from Coeliac Disease and requires gluten free food, the chef warrants special praise as on more than one occasion, when the buffet dinner was not suitable, he cooked something especially for her.
The hotel is located approx. 3mls from Pafos town centre and 2mls from Pafos harbour, both of which are easily and cheaply accessible using public transport. There area number of shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance.

Just got back from Cyprus yesterday ( 18th October 2006 )
We stayed for two weeks in this hotel and what can I say but it was great , when I first read reviews here I was not looking forward at all .
We arrived and were checked in within a few minutes , rooms were clean and bigger than some I have stayed in Crete in the past .
We had half board so had breakfast and evening meal which I must say I enjoyed the evening meal every night throughout the two weeks, did not each much for breakfast apart from toast and scammbled eggs, all meals were self services so you are not limited to what you can eat which is a great idea !
We hired a safe downstairs for the 2 weeks which was £4 cyprit pounds per week, the fridge in the room was extra and we did not use it.
The rooms had two single beds , wardobe , 2 chairs , dressing table, Fridge and TV and much needed air conditioning then a small balcony which was fine for what we used it for.
The hotel staff were great our favourites were Lisa in the main Bar at night and Jaroslav ( young lad ) in the dinning room on an evening both very friendly and helpfull.
This hotel needs the ratings changed as it should be more than a 2.5 star , its location is slightly away from the main busy bars near the harbour but there are some good bars near by.
Overall = Excellent 95 % will defo go back again !!!

cheap and clean

This hotel is on the tired side and in need of updating but clean. Coffee good but the rest of the breakfast poor, would not try the rest of the food. The rooms are a fair size but having to pay £2cyp a day for the fridge was steep. Central for Paphos and the pool side of the hotel was quiet in the evenings. Not much of a view., that being of a vacant plot. Cheap and clean

We have just returned from Hotel Veronica it is in a great location , near to the local bars and restaurants and only a few minutes walk from the busy Bar Street area. The hotel was quiet and peaceful although the bar was quite busy at nights. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and because it is quite a small hotel the staff soon got to know you.
The pool area is really nice and very clean and the rooms were a good size and were also clean. We would certainly stay in this hotel again. I would reccommend it to anyone as it was very reasonably priced and the location was great.

Top Local Tips for Paphos
bargains and packing My advice is to buy your toiletries and make up there and not bother to pack them if you're short of room. Everything is cheaper and everything is available to buy so no need to worry if you forget anything. Opticians: very high quality - the Cypriots are known for it - so very much cheaper than in England and loads of frames to choose from - you only have a couple of days to wait till you get your specs. Chemists: if you need prescription medication while you are there you can probably get it at the chemists - the chemists are very helpful if you are unwell and can dispense far more than is the case in England.
80c No 10, 11, 15,, Bus just outside the hotel Take a Mug, they only have small cups , shop around for trip pricesand ask what you get..and a good sun cream.
Paphos itself Paphos itself is amazing, the nightlife is brilliant whether you just want a quiet meal or a quiet drink to busy clubs, teh nicest pub we found was Flintstones, the owener is lovely and it is such a relaxing place to have a laugh and chat, the Phivos restuarnt down from the main area has beautiful Cyprian food and the staffa re so lovely you will stay a few hours at least
