A really good Hotel

Arrived after dinner had finished at 9pm but we were welcomed with an orange drink and in the room we found sandwiches a drink and some fruit.
The rooms are not the largest we have been in but they were one of the cleanest. The towels were changed daily and the sheets every couple of days, even the day before we left.
Woke up in the morning to a blue sky and a nice view of the pool and the sea.
At breakfast we found everything from fruit and porridge to a full English breakfast. Coffee on tap from the machines spread around the dinning room. Whatever time we came down we could always find a table inside or out.
Lots of sun beds round the pool together with lots of activities provided by hard working animation team.
Lunch could be a Chinese or more simple fair in the pool bar. The air condition restaurant was also available for a larger selection of good food with plenty of Choice.
The evening meals were also first class with the meat in the carvery falling off the knife, plenty of choice.
Evening entertainment was good and bingo was fun for those who wanted to play.
You don't have to queue for the all inclusive drinks, waiters cannot wait to refill your glass and dispose of the empties.
We both really enjoyed our two weeks away and plan to return in May 2008 with the in-laws.

Have stayed at this hotel for 14 years. It is our other home! On our first visit we were allocated this hotel and we seen no reason to try out other hotels. At first we had usual annual 2 weeks but when we retired we stayed for 3 months. Christmas and New Year are really SPECIAL. Our grandchildren loved it and rate it the best holiday of their lives. We got to love Paphos so much we are now planning to sell our home here and buy a property in Paphos. Over the years we have made a lot of wonderful friends of many Nationalities. There is something for everyone at this hotel. The food is wonderful, varied menus every evening. Yes the odd one has found reason to complain but they soon realise they are in the minority. All the staff are friendly, caring, anxious to attend to your every need. Management are really lovely. From the day you book your holiday at the hotel you feel their friendship We book directly and when we speak to a member of staff we can feelr their friendship straight away. On arrival it is like being met by close family. Our rooms are welcoming and it is then great to go to the various social areas and renew friendships with our many friends from previous years. The Animators work so hard to make our stay an enjoyable one. Their Shows may be seem familiar but with a turnover of members a new face can bring a new dimention to the sketch. One must remember that not everyone is a returning holiday-maker, Bingo is a great laugh but great when you win. The activities are many and when you win you receive a Diploma that evening. Not only that but you ladies get kissie kissies from the male animators and the males get kissed by the lovely girls. Now and the a chap gets threatened he'll be kissed by a male Animator. All so delightfully done. Some evenings outside Entertainers come and do just that. Line Dancers were a big attraction. They were a group of ladies who were fund raising for a Paphos Hospice. Their ages ranged from youngisg to 82 years. They were really worth watching. I could write a lot more but the best thing to do is BOOK YOUR NEXT HOLIDAY AT THIS HOTEL and experience it all first hand.

My husband and I first visited the Phaethon in 1999 on honeymoon. We have been back every year at least once ever since and are due to go back again in November 2006. We have found, over the years, that the service has been and remained outstanding. The rooms are beautifully clean (having been refurbished a couple of years ago), the maid service excellent but the thing we like the very most are the staff - it's like going home to your family, they are so friendly and welcoming. The only disappointment over the last few years has been the evening entertainment (in-house shows). These have been the same for the last six years! I do understand that some new shows are being introduced this year and look forward to seeing what they have on offer this time. If you have never been to Cyprus before and you choose Paphos as your holiday resort, I would recommend the Louis Phaethon Beach without hesitation. I hope you enjoy your stay(s) as much as we do.

Stayed here in June 06 for one week, very short transfer time from small local airport. Rooms were small but very good and clean. Excellent daily maid service, even tucked our younger sons teddy in every morning! Lost the electricity to our room one day, hotel engineer appeared within 10 mins, he couldn't fix the problem their and then. And the next day they appeared to have another go to no avail so we were offered another room with a sea view! Within walking distance of a Waterpark. But a bus/taxi ride from local town but this meant hotel itself didn't suffer from nightlife noise. Excellent facilities at hotel with a shop, good front desk service. And separate water sports facility on beach just off hotel grounds. Good outside pool with animation team/lifeguards and pool activities. The all inclusive meals/drinks were excellent and couldn't fault the food at all. Loved this hotel and would thoroughly recommend and the hotel chain to anyone with a family. If I was going to the eastern med again I'd definitely look for one of these again. Only black mark was tour operator's recommended hire car company not the best one around. Top tip take 5 mins to walk around the car park to see the standard of hire cars and then choose the company you'd like to hire from. Again great hotel, good location, excellent staff, fantastic value for money. Couldn't fault the hotel itself. Just choose your hire car company carefully.

I have been to this hotel twice and i'm going back this year. This hotel is great the quality of food is excellant the quantity is never ending. Lhe local drink is weak but if your all inclusive just order doubles it's all paid for already. The staff are nice and friendly the never stop working. The rooms are spacious and clean. i would reccomend this to anyone of any age, especially families.

Good Hotel But Needs Improvements!

from AxtonHarlow
Just back from the Phaethon Hotel, mixed feelings about our visit. The Hotel Foyer was lovely and bar and restaurant clean and well kept. Shame I couldnt say the same for our room - in need of redocoration and bathroom in desperate need of renervation. Pool area excellent - kept nice and tidy. beach - well if you could call it a beach - there was so much washed up sea weed didn't fancy going anywhere near the watersports - couldn't face putting my legs into the water! Food in restaurant excellent although for me too English - bread and butter pudding and apple pie and custard for dessert! Would prefer to of seen more local food. Entertainment - well in the day it was excellent but thank god there was a bus into the town as in the evenings it was like being at a bad english camp site, too painful even to watch. Nearest bar or supermarket was 15 minutes walk and at 35 degrees not something you would want to do very often - thank god there was a bus.
Staff and hotel overall good but think they need to look at these areas in order to improve.

Excellent For Families

from A TripAdvisor Member
Just returned back from this Hotel and it was supberb, we stayed on a all inclusive basis and it was fantastic the food was excellent, staff so friendly, and the animation team was fantastic, they would motivate you during the day to particpate in the games if you wanted to and the shows of a evening were fantastic!! there is a mini disco every night for the children which my son enjoyed. If you dont have a kids club with your holiday company the hotel runs one twice a day and they win prizes, we travelled with portland and had the thomson kids club which was excellent the kiddies reps work so hard and my son won lots of prizes too. The hotel is a few miles from Paphos Harbour but buses run every 15 mins just outside the Hotel and its only £1.00 on the bus and that will take you anywhere in Paphos. The Hotel is opposite the water park which took us about 10 mins to walk to well worth a visit, go on Wednesday becauce thats the airport day and its really quiet and no queing up for rides. Would I go there again definately without a doubt!!! As a Travel Agent myself and never been to Cyprus before this hotel is highly recommended and so is the resort of paphos.

Good all-round hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
Good all round hotel for adults and kids. Staff friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Hotel and rooms always kept clean. Good mixture of food and more than enough. Kids well catered for both food and entertainment. We booked half board but upgraded to all-inclusive because the hotel is out on a limb, although there is a good bus service. Nearest bars/food outlets approximately 15 minutes walk away. Although the distance isn't too much of a problem, unless you ate in the hotel, you have to consider the daily walk in the heat to the nearest bars etc. Phathos is even further. We had relatively peace and quiet and didn't see any abuse of the food/drink side of the all-inclusive. However, in the middle of the holiday it was a Greek Bank Holiday weekend and we were overwhelmed by Greeks. I'm sorry to say the peace and quiet disappeared and the amount of wasted food and drink now apparent made us realise why we think twice about going all-inclusive. Apart from being out on a limb the only other thing that let the hotel down was the beach or lack of it. Each hotel had a small beach that was covered in washed-up sea grass. I couldn't understand why either each hotel couldn't be responsible for their own or 'pool' their rescources and have it cleaned that way. Either way, it wasn't a mammoth task and those that operated the water sports could have made an effort, it would have made their outlet more inviting. The local tourist map given out by the reps. listed them has 'Blue-flag' beaches. Would I stay again yes, but not during the peak season when I can only assume it may resemble that Greek weekend.

Excellent for families and couples

An exellent hotel overall food first class, staff very helpfull and polite. the animation team work very hard to make sure that all guests children and adults enjoy thier stay they put on a good entertainment program in the evening, and a good choice of sport activities during the day. situated in a nice quiet area. will recomend this hotel and will go back.

Great place for Families

from Ballydorn
We took our two grandsons for a week to this hotel and neither of them wanted to come home. We were on half-board and were impressed by the standard of the buffet and the its daily change of menu.
We were unimpressed with the standard of entertainment. I'm not sure who it was aimed at, but it did not appeal to us, in our sixties, nor the boys aged 10 &12. The older boy waited all night to be called for the Karaoke and never was. Meanwhile some "performers", of very dubious ability, were called twice.
One reason why we chose this hotel was the promise of archery and target-shooting at which the boys are already proficient. It was therefore a great disappointment to be told that no one under 16 could participate in either.
One warning to those who arrive, as we did, on an overnight flight, demand a room away from the central area. There was a disco going on there on the Saturday night. We had paid extra for seaview rooms, but we couldn't close our eyes for the racket. It stopped at 11.15pm, which normally wouldn't be a problem, unless, like us and the children, you had very little sleep the night before and needed to get to bed early.
However, I should say that the staff were without exception, friendly, polite and helpful. Minor problems were dealt with instantly.
Their helpfulness extended beyond the period of our stay there. I left my reading glasses behind. I emailed the hotel and they were forwarded to me by data post at a lower charge than originally quoted.

Having been to this hotel for two consecutive years I think that speaks volumes. We had no complaints what so ever. We actually went here the year before my husband and I married, we enjoed it that much that we cancelled our honeymoon to the Dominican Republic so that we could return to Cyprus and the Peathon Beach.
We are a family of four, with two young boys and we all were sad to be leaving the hotel. We found the staff to be so polite and helpful, the rooms were cleaned daily and the room attendants were always keen to please, the beds were spotless and no musty smells. The food was excellent, I must have put on half a stone with the cakes that were on offer, there was something for everyone. The animation team were great, especially Rio. They really went out of their way to involve everybody and create an easy atmosphere. The shows were fantastic, they all worked so hard, offering pool and field activities all day, child disco early evening, shows until 10.30 then finishing off with a disco until 12.00 and the crew were more than willing to go clubbing after. (I don't know where they got their energy)
The pool side and pool were kept clean at all times with cleaners constantly swilling away access water, the snack bar was always clean and constantly stocked.
The beach staff loved the holiday makers especially the children, they offered fresh cold cappucino and melon whilst waiting for the water sports, which were a little expensive but worth it.
Overall it was fantastic, lovely food, clean rooms, polite helpful staff, fantastic weather and a great water park less than 500 yards away. The only tip I would give is take plenty of mozzie cream and keep your balcony door shut at all times. Have a great holiday!!!!
iWe had a fantastic time and would recommend this hotel to anyone, I can't wait to go again.

We booked a week 4* minimum guaranteed all inclusive late deal (allocation on arrival in pafos with Thomsons). We had never done this before and literally hours later we were on our way!
We only paid £972. for two adults and a 14yr old child and was looking for a relaxing week in between our main holidays, we could not have chosen better ourselves. It would still have been worth the full brouchure price.
The slovakian animation team were fantastic, one of the best we have seen. they kept everyone of all ages entertained from morning till night, don't know where they found the energy!
The food was excellent, different choices every day, service to match.
The rooms were rather small and compact, but the sea view we were given made up for this (to be honest we were never in it).
The waiters in the bar area were rather slow in bringing your first drink but once you had one, and they knew what you wanted they literally had a pad ready waiting for your next!
The sauna, steam room and jaccuzzi were a welcome pamper session at the end of each day around the pool.

great for kids

from A TripAdvisor Member
location/hotel: the hotel is at the end of a number of hotels south of paphos. paphos is not walking distance but there is a bus service. the beach is not really a beach. so this is really disappointing!!
there is a pretty large pool with a childrens pool. there are 2 playgrounds (very large compared to other hotels). this was a real plus for our 4 yr old boy. he loved the pirat ship. bring your own towels for the pool !!
you only get one key for the room which can be annoying. also all electricity only works when the key is in the slot (incl a/c). the TV programm is a real minus (two engl news channels/ one german channel). there is no minibar/fridge in the room!

service: most service personel is eastern european and very friendly. the entertainment during the day is alright and fun. they offer a lot of acitivites. there is also a thomson kids club and a local hotel kids club. both very friendly and competent (but only english speaking)

noise: maybe we were lucky but the guests behaved well and it was not noisy. be aware that music is played from 10 am to 11pm in the center of the hotel and can be heard in all infacing rooms. that can be annoying if you do not like ABBA.

food. like most people we did all inclusive. the food is very good. a good mixture of english and local food. the wine is not very good. but you can buy if you want. they have one local and one internationla beer.

people: 80% british, 15% french, 5% russian and 3 people from germany (us). we were lucky as there where very few people who started to drink from 10 am on. there are mainly families and senior citizens. I would not recommend the hotel for couples or 18-30 type people.

good hotel

from 37willow
We have just returned from a lovely week in this hotel. Lovely because it is a very relaxing atmosphere, the rooms and public spaces are comfortable, the food is excellent, and the staff were very pleasant and helpful.
It was very welcoming, after a very delayed flight which resulted in us not reaching the hotel until midnight,to find a nicely prepared supper of sandwiches, fruit and soft drinks in our room to make up for the fact that we had missed dinner.

The only down-side was the overcrowding over the weekend due to the fact that the company offer deals to the general public obviously to fill the rooms unoccupied because it is winter. This resulted in massive family groups who completely took over the restaurant and public areas to the extent that the long-stay guests arriving for meals etc. could not find a table to sit at. In summertime, there could be use made of the outside terraces to house the maximum number of guests, but in the winter they do not use these spaces, and consequently it was purgatory. Also due to it being winter season, the number of staff was inadequate to cater for the numbers involved on the weekends. A blight to an otherwise idyllic holiday..This in itself would stop us from revisiting this hotel.

Excellent mini break

from A TripAdvisor Member
Me andmy husband had a mini 4 day break here,, apart from the weather (it was freezing!!) we had a lovely time. The hotel was excellent, all staff were very friendly the food was of a very good standard and the bar staff were excellent. They actually served you at your table as soon as your glass was empty!! My only one complaint was there were no cypriot dishes served, however i understand this is probably due to the fact that the guests were all english. Would not hesitate to book this hotel again! We were also very lucky to meet 2 fab couples from Barnsley and never stopped laughing!!
