Historical Traveller Reviews of Leptos Coral Beach Hotel
Great Location , Nice Hotel , shame about the staff :(
from VlagouiOverall it is a great hotel with a lovely location in Coral Bay . Our Room ( a family studio ) was superb , accomodating 2 adults and 2 children no problem . We had a huge veranda/balcony wihich looked out over the sea ( great views ) . A huge plus was the room was carpeted unlike most so that meant we never had to worry about our little one falling over as she is just learning to walk .
The pool area and dining areas are great . Nice grassed areas behind pool side a la Amathus in Limassol which we enjoyed daily . We were on a B & B and I must say the breakfast buffet was superb . Reception staff were very friendly , breakfast pool side staff were not ( see below )
NEGATIVES : We felt that the pool bar lunch menu wasn't that great , not enough variety , no pasta at all for kids which is very strange - all kids love pasta . Saying that there is an awesome restaurant along the way from the hotel that serves a huge range of both Traditional Cypriot and non traditional fare - well recommended .
One thing in our mind knocks this hotel to 4 star and that is that majority( read 80% of staff ) . I have never in all my life of staying in 5 star hotels ( especially Cyprus ) seen so many miserable members of staff . The worst offenders were at breakfast bar the Egg lady who is so sweet and Christo the Head Waiter . They are inefficient and really have a lot to learn , I doubt they are trained prpperly . Too many non- Cypriot staff have ruined it I'm sure , I know they get paid peanuts but come on we are being charged 5 star prices . Pool side staff when u could find them were very slack . In fact there weren't any going round the sea and pool area to serve anyone .
All in all we had a great time and the staff certainly didn't spoil it for us but we would not return
Superb 5 Stars

All in all a very pleasant resort, and worth staying at even if its just for the architecture. Incidentally we compared it with other hotels in the locality which we had considered and thought it had a superior position overlooking the sea next to two beaches and adjacent to a small fishing and watersport harbour.
Jes and Julians Wedding, almost the grooms funeral too!
from LottisGodfatherThe Wedding ran without a hitch and as to did the entire stay, this is somewhere I would recommend to anyone for a holiday or a wedding.
The reason for me taking the trouble to spend my precious time writing this is something for which the hotel are not directly responcible, yet by voicing our experiences in this manor other holiday makers may not experience what we unfortunately endured.
On the beach front of the hotel next to the harbour is a kiosk which sells boat trips/ paragliding etc. The signage on the kiosk displays the Hotels logo and due to its location, the average person would deduce its something to do with the hotel (hence reputable).
We hired a self drive speed boat for the hour, went 5 minutes out to sea and the engine cut out. No radio, no t-shirt, no hats just left to bob up and down and eventually into the jagged rocks. When the proprietor of the kiosk came out to rescue us, he verbally abused us and said we had somehow caused the boat to hit the rocks. I was rather shell shocked that we had possibly the most scary experience of our lives had paid £50 for the pleasure and yet were being shouted at by a Greek gypsy.
On reflection I felt we should have our money back at the very least, but this request was simply greeted with another Greek outburst.
This company trade under the wing of this 5 star hotel and charge inflated prices as the clientel can afford it, they speak perfect English to get your money, then once things become a problem, they cant speak English anymore. I spoke to the hotel who say there is no relationship between the hotel and this kiosk/company.
My thoughts are: why does such a fantastic hotel allow its reputation to be tarnished by allowing this shocking customer service level occur in its name.
The Hotel once again is the best in Cyprus!
Fantastically Amazing!!!!!!!!!!
from A TripAdvisor MemberThank you for such a superb holiday.
Very good experience!
from PHV009> Location: of course, the hotel is situated in the outskirts of Paphos (+/- 20 minutes in bus to get from Coral Beach to Paphos Centre) but the website doesn’t hide this fact! So, we knew precisely where we would stay and as we intended to visit not only Paphos but also Limassol, Larnaka and Nicosia, we rented a car for 2 days. What’s more, there is a bus stop in front of the hotel. If people want to be closer to Paphos, why don’t they reserve a hotel in the city???? Important to know: there is a supermarket 50 meters away from the hotel. You can buy anything you want there at cheaper prices.
> Hotel facilities: great swimming-pool with loads of sun beds where you can lie, facing the sea and the small hotel private harbor, listening to the sound of the waves coming on the shore… (see the pictures to get an idea of the view!). This was just fantastic and even more fantastic when you know that the swimming-pool is waiting for you a few meters behind you. Concerning the sandy beach, we must admit that this is not the kind of beach you’d dream of: more stones than sand and no so clean as it should be. This is definitely something the hotel should be working on to deserve its 5th star. The hotel offers also a Health & Beauty Spa (we didn’t try it) and 4 tennis courts (2 hard, 2 synthetic grass).
> Food: this is the other reason why we don’t grant the 5th star. The food varied from good to excellent but there is a lack of creativity regarding the way to present the buffets. Having said that, there was food enough every evening at the Coral restaurant. On HB, you have 2 “free of charge” restaurants: Coral (buffets with evening themes like Greek, Italian, International, etc…) and the Calypso (menus). We were satisfied with the Coral, so we kept eating there.
> Room: we booked a promo room which meant no view on mountain or sea. As we were prepared to it, we have nothing to complain about! It is nonetheless true that the room needed some refurbishment but the air-conditioning was working properly, the bathroom was ok and the beds too. There is a mini-bar as well, which is perfect for the water bottles we bought to the supermarket.
> Staff: warm and friendly reception staff who welcomed us at 11 pm with a smile. The rest of the stay, we enjoyed the friendliness of the waiters/waitresses. 2 examples: 1) We didn’t have to argue to obtain a free dinner as we arrived too late the first day. We were on HB, so we missed the first dinner. They gave us a voucher for a free meal, so we were able to enjoy a lunch the day of departure. 2) As we were planned to leave the hotel at 7.25 pm and we had to give the keys of our rooms at 12.00, we asked the reception to reserve a courtesy room for 30 minutes so that we could enjoy a full afternoon at the swimming-pool without leaving covered of sun milk and wearing swimsuits. Once again, no problem at all. Well, the truth is that they proposed first to extend the use of our room till 6 pm (costs: CYL 20 = EUR 35) and then, the courtesy room possibility came up… but anyway, we eventually get what we wanted.
> Entertainment: we are not fans of entertainment, so no big deal for us if there is any. If people need so badly animation/entertainment, they just have to book a club hotel. Personally, I don’t mind not being bothered every 10 minutes by some guy/girl screaming & slobbering in my ears that the water-polo tournament is about to begin or that there is a darts competition downstairs with a chance to get a free cocktail. Animation occurred twice during the dinner: Cypriot musicians playing typical songs and dancing.
To conclude, we were certainly a bit concerned when we read so many bad reviews on this hotel but there is nothing to be afraid of: go there and enjoy the beautiful gardens, the great swimming-pool, the good food, the friendly staff, the relaxing atmosphere and the superb views on the sea… We had a great time there! Interesting to mention: the hotel was not full, all areas (and mainly the swimming-pool and the restaurant) were not too crowded and this is something important if you want to avoid fighting for a table at the restaurant or a sun bed at the pool….
Defending the Coral Beach!
from Honey2705Top Local Tips for Paphos
car rental at Larnaca airport It took ages to sort out our car-don't know why, we had prebooked a few months before the holiday. There are no apparent signs as to where to go to collect your car or where to park it on returning it! You need to walk to the carpark that is furthest from the airport building and there will eventually be someone there to help you. All the rental firms are together in the carpark- so its not much use just looking for your company!
Limited local attractions Hire a car to view further afield. Went to Nicosia 2 hours from Coral Bay. Water Park at Limmassol £15.00pp open 10.00 am to 6.00 pm. We arrived at 4.15 pm and decided not worth the money for just over an hour taking into account queing for rides etc. Had we known about it before we stumbled upon it would definately have visited - lots to do!!.
Car hire Hire a car as there are so many places to see, visit and enjoy. Public transport is regular but nothing can beat your own motor
