As local residents we decided to stay within the island. The fact that August is a busy month due to holidays we booked in the Kissos. Superior Rooms were the best option even though we paid a supplement. The whole family was not coming out of the excellent pool going around the rooms. Breakfast and snacks were good, BBQ night was awesome... Would definitely go again when it is more quiet.

Any doubts raised by other reviews we have read about this hotel were quickly put to rest. Great choice buffet breakfast and evening meal. Beautiful size pool, just lay there and watch the swallows swooping around. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very clean. 2 mins walk to sea....not sandy beach. Well worth hiring a car to explore the mountains and west coast ( and they drive on the same side of the road as us with all signs in greek and english) Only got back last night. Snowing in uk and Anita is still sun burnt. Better pack all those shorts away! Lovely warm days take a cardigan for evening strolls.

We have just returned from a week in Cyprus and thoruoghly enjoyed our time at the Kissos. Very decent accommodation at very affordable prices. Well located between the old town and the harbour. Good, convenient bus route nearby, just far enough away from the hussle and bussle. Clean and friendly. Would definitely return.

Historical Traveller Reviews of Kissos Hotel

Friendly and helpful staff

from wanderer23
Better than average 3 star hotel as far as decor, cleanliness and facilities etc. The food was a bit boring, bland and repetitive. The staff are extremely friendly which makes it a really good hotel. Having to pay for the kettle and fridge was a bit much though as you really do need a fridge in your room for water etc. Entertainment is a bit poor, if it was important to you, you would not be happy with it. All in all, it was good value and I would go back again as it met our needs at the time.

Watch out for the hidden extras!

from H3artburn
Clean and adequate. Watch out for the hidden extras, such as fridge, tea & coffee. Must admit I was appalled at the thought of having to pay £1.50 pppd for tea making facilities. Food is boring but good value compared to some of the local restaurants. BBQ night particularly good value. Breakfasts in particular have nothing to recommend them and why chips with everything? Quiet hotel with entertainment at the week-end including that good old standard...............karaoke!!

Wouldn't go again though.

Great Hotel/Location

from terlga
We have just returned from a week B&B at the Kissos Hotel, we stayed in the old part but were very satisfied with the room, the breakfasts were also adequate, a good variety. The pool area was also ok and the pool itself quite warm. Not much organised activity which probably is a good thing. Just one thing never change money at the hotel, the rate was 77 cents for one English pound plus one pound commission on each transaction, the banks were not much better. Many of the shops especially around the harbour were giving 85.2 cents. Food and drinks are quite expensive compared with the Greek islands, but we found an excellent place to eat and drink, almost opposite the hotel on the other side of the main road (Tombs of the Kings Rd.) The Maestro Grill, the food was excellent and good value, a Meze (20 dishes) for one person was Cy£6.00, everywhere else it was £9.00 and a minimum of 2 pers.
Aristos made us very welcome. I expect he will remember Helga & Terry.

great hotel

from suzierobb
we booked our holiday 10 days before we arrived. i thought it was a good choice by the travel agents. the hotel was lovely and we were pleased with our room. the only problem was the camp bed for our 12 year old daughter. we stayed b&b and the breakfast was excellant with lots of choice. the staff were very friendly especially the bar staff. one of the staff remebered that i liked pina colada especially in happy hour. we enjoyed the pool and the lagoon pool. we also liked 'pat', the entertainment man. we would definitely return

Good Hotel!

I was a little apprehensive about our stay at the Kissos this year due to some of the negative reviews that have been published on this site. My worries quickly disappeared upon our arrival at the hotel when we were greeted by very friendly staff and a refurbished clean standard room, which did not have any unpleasent smell as has been mentioned before! The size of the room was more than adequate for the two of us, however, if there were three adults it may be a little snug and a superior room may be worth considering. The air-con in the rooms is free but the safety deposit boxes have a sur-charge, but is only 1.50 CYP per day. The larger pool was lovely and clean, we prefered this one to the lagoon pool as it was deeper and larger, but the lagoon pool also looked clean. We stayed bed and breakfast, which was also adequate and there was plently of choice. Excellent location for the harbour (20 -30 min walk but bus stops all along the route) and a 10 min walk to the Tombs of the Kings and nearest beach (very rocky).
Overall, a good hotel and if we were to return to Paphos then we would definately consider the Kissos again.
Eating out - we particularly enjoyed the Honduras Tavern opposite Debehams at the harbour for traditional Cypriot food, very nice and not expensive. An Italian called La Piazza in the harbour area was also lovely, quite formal and also quite expensive, but about the same price for a meal of a similar standard in the UK. Fat Mama's was heaving every night and we went to see what it was all about, but have to say were a little disappointed as the food was not brilliant and the portions were off-puttingly huge (and my boyfriend and I have very large appetites).
Paphos must-see - the mosiacs were amazing definatly worth the 2.00 CYP!

loved this hotel

We have just returned from cyprus and we stayed at the kissos It was lovely and clean the staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The pool area was lovely and clean as well. the only fault if you could even call it that was that with desserts there was no ice cream or cream Would I use this hotel again very definately yes.

Fantastic Hotel - Great Location - A Must Go

from A TripAdvisor Member
I Have been going to the Kissos Hotel for the last 9 years, taking groups of between 50-120 people with NO complaints.

Having just returned again,I must admit that the hotel just gets better, with the standard rooms being partly refurbished, the pool area spotlessly clean, staff attitude towards guests is second to none, and the food is of good quality as well.

I personally would ignore any of the negative comments read on any website regarding this hotel, as some people should stay at home and complain in the rain!!!!!!!

If your budget allows you too, go for a superior upgraded room at the Kissos Hotel, as these are largerthan standard room, newer, and great as you can walk straight out in to the lovely lagoon pool.

A MUST GO, AND I,VE ALREADY BOOKED ANOTHER HOLIDAY THERE LATER IN THE YEAR. 10/10

Brilliant

from A TripAdvisor Member
After just coming back from this holiday I felt I must say how brilliant the hotel Kissos is. The food caters for every taste and if you are watching your figure then there is something for you which is not boring. We had a room overlooking the lagoon and the small single window looked out to the sea. The room itself was very spacious and the beds comfortable, the room was very clean the bathroom was adequate and again very clean. The shower worked properly (didnt go hot and cold). The evening entertainment was enough for us, just a DJ playing 60's 70's music. The distance to the beach is only about 10min walk but it is not a good beach very rocky. The walk to the harbour and seafront took me over 1/2hr but I am a slow walker my husband managed it in 20mins when on his own. Bars and resturants are very close by and loads to choose from. All in all we loved this hotel and will be returning again.

Top Local Tips for Paphos

TAXI Negotiate a price before you get in the taxi - from airport to Kissos should cost between 15 and 18 CYP. Otherwise the taxi driver will charge 20+ CYP.

Jeep Safria Down in the old port area, you can book jeep trips up to the mountains, well worth doing, but take a jumper it gets cold up there.

fat mama's Don't order a starter before your main meal.....the food was lovely, but too much for me....the entertainment was great! Well worth a visit
