Historical Traveller Reviews of Helios Bay Hotel

from smith2309
After visiting helios bay hotel 6 times and being old age pensioners we were treated with immense respect by Nicos and all his staff were wonderful and very helpful. The food and drinks were very reasonably priced and very good. The last three times we stayed at the Helios Bay we stayed in a two bedroomed villa at the side of the hotel with our daughter and her husband and used all the hotel facilities which we found very adequate. We will be visiting Helios Bay later this year 2007 and taking along our family, as we had a very enjoyable stay. anyone who does not like Helos Bay Hotel are very hard to please.

Having travelled to Cyprus for some years for holidays last year, 2006, we discovered the Helios Bay just outside Paphos on the Coral Bay road, we are travelling back there for a stay this June, 2007, enough cannot be said about the superb holiday that can be had at this idilic location, being family run, Nicos and his staff make you feel welcome from the outset, the rooms are spacious and very well maintained, with a daily cleaning service, a swimming pool, and a kiddies area set aside in the pool, has a adjacent snack bar, for those essential eats and drinks whilst hard at work on that tan, and a great weekly BBQ and entertainment tops off a terrific time, thanks to all at the Helios Bay

fantastic hotel

from mrcBristol
We have been going to helios bay since 1999 which is where we actually met. The atmosphere at the hotel is so friendly and family orientated that we decided to get married there 4 years later what fantastic memories we have!!!
Over the years we have stayed in various different accommadation within the hotel all of which have been to the highest quality of cleanliness and excellent facilities available. As the years have gone on the family has grown so too has the rooms we require the studio's are more than enough for a couple and the one bedroom apartments are gorgeous with the balcony where you can sit out and enjoy the view and then there's the villas which provide you with that bit of privacy that some of us like with your own patio's.
The pool is brilliant plenty of room to cool off and even if you can't swim it's shallow enough one end for you to just cool off and believe me you will need to cool off!!!!!!!!!! The childrens pool is ideal with the barrier so that they can't get to the big pool it's quite safe our little boy loved it when we took him he was just under a year at the time.
Helios bay don't have entertainment on every night but then thats quite nice because if you are looking for more then you can go to paphos or coral bay which are only a short bus journey away if not you are able to have a drink at the pool bar and enjoy a relaxing evening, however they do have their bbq nights which are brilliant fun the food is fantastic all the family gets involved they have cypriot dancers who are amazing then a quiz followed by some karaoke which nicos and loucas (the two brothers who run the hotel) get quite involved in worth seeing!!!
I hope if anyone is looking to visit Helios bay that they enjoy it as much as us it is very addictive we will be looking forward to seeing nicos and all the team in september when we go on holiday with our new addition to the family.
Keep up the fantastic work Nicos, Loucas and everyone at Helios Bay see you in september!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Hotel Location Friendly Staff

from BIG_D_WolvesOnSea
We enjoyed our first stay at Helios Bay Apartments so much that we have just returned from our second one. As a couple without kids we stayed in an apartment on the top floor overlooking the sea - great views of the sunset over the sea while sipping an Ouzo with lemonade. It is conveniently situated on the main road between Coral Bay and Paphos with well tended gardens and good facilities including a jacuzzi, swimming pool, beach bar and shop. Some of the apartments at the side of the hotel don't have such good views, but you can email the hotel for an upgrade as we did - didn't cost very much. Rooms were clean and well appointed with air con and TV and were cleaned every day. Friendly and helpful Staff. We had a chilled out week in Cyprus - alas went far too quickly. Will definitely stay at Helios Bay apartments again.

Great place to stay

from davefry
My wife and I have been going to The Helios Bay Hotel Apartments now since 1998. We go there for our main two weeks annual holiday and meet up with a number of friends who do the same. We try other places later in the year but have not found anywhere better than the Helios! Our daughter was married in Cyprus in 2004. The wedding reception was held at the Helios. Nicos the owner and his family and staff did us proud. It is in a beautiful and tranquil spot and highly recommended. We are going out again on the 4th June.

year after year

from jordyOswestry
This will be our fourth year at helios bay, each year gets better and better friendly staff good food at snack bar (tuna pitta breads are to die for) pool and gardens are excellent, lovely stroll down to the beach. Ideal place for people who want to chill out. Treated like a guest not a number. Any problems staff are more than helpful to sort them out. Good place to take children as it feels very safe.

Perfect Holiday Resort

from JakeEggborough
Helios Bay is one of most relaxing and friendly hotels we have stayed in. The family and staff have always been helpful when needed giving you space to enjoy your holiday but reassuring to know their help and advise of the area is available. The rooms are spacious, very clean and comfortable. Overall we would give this hotel an excellant rating due to the hard work of the family and staff that makes you stay feel special

simply the best

i have been going to cyprus for 16.years.
we always stay at helios bay hotel.
it is run by a family, and gives off a family atmospere,
we have met other people there and stayed friends for years,
most people seem to go back there year after year, its like a home from home, its so relaxing.the staff are always there to help in any way they can,i have been to all these large 5 star hotels, there you are a number, here you are a name or family,
it is right next to a beach, bus stop right outside to take you in to paphos or coral bay. so for them that have done it all and just want to relax (no car) its ideal, the rooms are cleaned every day.
once a week they have a bar-b-que, the food is great .with cypriot dancers , Quizz. , karaoke , disco. a great night had by all.
plenty of sunbeds for the pool or to lay in the lovely gardens.
there are plenty of restarants within walking distance, and for those who want it a bit livelyer ,only a short car or bus ride in to paphos , with a lovely harbour.bars restaraunts cocktail bars and clubs. i have and will recomend this hotel to any one
i will along with my family be back there again in july/august,

t get enough

from atrima4
I always promised myself I would never repeat locations for a holiday. I've just come back from my 7th stay at Helios Bay and will be returning in August for my 8th visit. April is not as vibrant as August, but the friendly, welcoming approach in which the the Hotel is run is as good at Easter as it is in the Summer. I can't understand any negative reports written about this Hotel, every year I've gone back (in August) I've bumped into the same families who have been visiting for as long if not longer than me.
It may not be as big as some of the hotels in the area. But at Helios Bay you get treated as a guest instead of just another number.

t stay there again

We went on a 5 week self-catering winter break. To be fair it was a pretty cheap holiday. However, we found the hotel to be pretty basic and in our view did not merit 3 stars. The room facilities were very basic - obviously supplemented by purchases of previous occupants. Hot water was a problem all the time we were there. I complained to Reception as I was unable to get water hot enough for a shower and was advised to let it run for "10 to 15 minutes to warm up!". Apart from the fact that this did not work, Cyprus has a chronic water shortage hardly assisted by advice of this type, The hotel lists itself as being in Paphos. In fact it is quite a long way out - certainly too far for most people to contemplate walking. There are bus stops outside the hotel for Paphos and Coral Bay but there are no evening services in the winter. While there is a Reception area it is certainly not a place you would want to go to for a drink in the evening. We would not use this hotel again.
