The food was varied plentiful and tasty. The staff very friendly. I had read some very varied reviews before going and so was a little worried but I need not have. The swimming pools were lovely if thats what you like but the best beach was only a short bus journey along to coral bay. Our beach at the sea was a rocky area that had been made fairly flat by cement infill so that there was a safe walking/sunbathing area with access to a protected swimming area which was ideal for snorkeling just in front of St Georges hotel next door.
Very clean hotel

This is an excellent family hotel. Very clean. Hotel staff were polite but mini market staff were VERY rude. Food was excellent and drink was plentiful!!. The towel 10 euro deposit system was great as you had a clean pool towel every day. Entertainment was a bit cheesy at times which just made it even funnier!! Would recommend this hotel for a peaceful relaxing getaway.

I returned yesterday from a weeks stay at the Laura Beach Hotel (pronounced Lawra). I stayed there with my 2 children (10 and 8 yrs) and we loved it. The hotel is huge, and beautifully decorated throughout, all the staff are friendly and can't do enough to help you, the place is spotless, the views are amazing, the swimming pools are clean and big enough to never feel crowded (i counted 7 in total, inside outside and small childrens pools).

We went all inclusive and food was served all day between 7am-10pm, the catering staff do an excellent job, and dinner must take them all day to prepare. Hot and cold/ healthy and not so healthy food is always available as well as a child menu, the food is beautifully presented and delicious, my children can be a bit picky but they tried all kinds of different food and i think it was the presentation that helped. At dinner there were several different choices of meals every night in the week we were there.

The beach is a few metres away from the hotel and there is a beautiful lagoon to swim in, although it was quite deep in parts for children, we prefered the hotel pools.

The animation team were great, there were lots of games organised, and the kids club song 'shake it up, shake it up' was very catchy. :-) My children liked the kids club 10-12 and 3-5 so much that we arranged trips so that we either left after the morning session or returned for the afternoon.
The evening entertainment was great fun and different every night it was entertaining for children and adults, we especially liked the greek dancing and the guy who balanced 20 glasses and a wine bottle on his head.

I used public transport, taxis were quite expensive but the bus was just as easy, the hotel seems to be located mid way between Paphos town/market and coral beach, with the harbour making the point of a triangle between them all. The bus cost 1 euro for children and 1.35 for adults and the stops for the Laura are right outside the hotel. The drivers were helpful and all knew the Laura and if you ask them they'll shout up the bus to tell you when you get there. At night the big red 'Laura' sign can be seen from a long way up the kings road and is a good landmark for getting ready to get off.

I would highly recommend this hotel for value for money, service, location, and fun. I travelled in a group of 20 from the UK, with everyone staying at different hotels and although everyone was pleased with their accomodation the Laura did appear to have the most facilities and was also the best deal. We can't wait to go back and we will soon.

I'd like to thank everyone at the Laura for making it a fantastic holiday for me and my children.
Good Times

Just come home from the Laura beach and we all want to go back. This is a holiday with something for everyone. The children are treated really well and the service was great nothing was too much trouble. We wouldn't say it was a four star but a very good three.

Fantastic place. Had a few reservations about visiting Cyprus, but well worth the visit. Everything about the place was second to non. The hotel staff, animation team all ever so polite and friendly. Fell in love with the views(they are so breath takingly beautiful) This holiday really spoilt me and i would definitely go back next year.. Spoilt for choice with the food too. Carvery nearly every night with as much fresh fruit and salad and veg as you could eat even the desserts were to die for.
Everything was amazing

First time to Cyprus, loved it going again September with the children, to look at organising our wedding at the hotel for September 2008, everything wonderful. Could look at little better evening entertainment but overall small price to pay for a fantastic holiday.
Fantastic! Going again at the end of the year!

What can I say except WOW! My family group compromised of my grandparents (late 70s) my parents (mid 40s) my brother (15) and myself (19) and I must admit that I seriously doubted any hotel would cater for us all, but the Luc Laura gave us all the holiday of a lifetime! The animation staff were incredible, they made a point of learning our names (as we enjoyed taking part in the activities going on during the day) and it was lovely when they came and called us by name for an activity, it really gave the holiday a personal feel. Alex was particularly great, he even managed to have my grandparents playing in the darts contests, and Naomi was so friendly we all signed up for whatever she was organising!! Okay, some of the activities weren’t as good as others, but as they had two going every hour of the day, you could always do something you wanted at any time! The pool was enormous, though during peak hours filled with inflatable’s which were supposed to be banned. A major bonus was the massive amounts of sun beds, I think there was enough for two each should you feel so inclined!! The food was also delicious with massive variety, not as much fresh fish as I expected, but there was so much else it was hard to miss it. The beach isn’t far away but it is on a bit of a slope (but if my granddad can manage it can’t be that bad!). Only criticism, on all inclusive I expected there to be some sort of water sport on the beach available free of charge, but they were all very expensive. There was a bar at the beach as well, so if you wanted a drink you didn’t have to walk up to the hotel. All in all a marvellous time was had by all and I can’t recommend it highly enough. Oh, and though we didn’t use it the kids club looked great, they always seemed to be having fun!

Ok but could be better

We have just returned from our Holiday to the Luca Laura. I had some reservations staying here due to the mixed reviews.

When we arrived we were dealt with promptly but when we got to our rooms we were very disappointed. The rooms were small, very dated and in need of repair. There was plaster falling off the walls, mould in the bathroom, broken bed and filthy mattress. The other family travelling with us also had this problem. The room was only just big enough for a couple let alone with children as well. We went straight back to reception to complain. The staff were very polite and asked us to return the following day. The next day both families were both given better and larger rooms at no extra cost. There were 8 families complaining at the same time as us with regards to the same matter. What was a bad start was sorted very quickly. If you are travelling with children make sure you book a family room and not a standard room.

The food was plentiful and a good choice was offered. There are 2 sittings. The early one for families but again as a couple if you wish to eat earlier you just tell them at reception. The snacks are the same every day. Toasted sandwiches and pizza and chips. Crisps and milkshakes are not included in the all inclusive package. Free bar closes at midnight and then you have to pay for drinks.

Entertainment was a bit hit and miss but it all depends of what you like. Plenty for younger children but not alot for teenagers especially at night.

Pool ok but not that big. Always clean though. Beach is down some very dodgy stone steps so not good for those with mobility problems. Not a very large beach either and when the tide is in no sand at all. Take a bus ride and go to the beach at Coral Bay.

If you want a quiet holiday this Hotel is not for you especially during school holidays. Lots of children were running amock in the Hotel and it took several people to complain before anything was done. A member of Staff usually keeping an eye but sometimes they just stood around and ignored them and let them get on with it.

The main town of Pathos is about 5 km away and not 2 as stated in some of the holiday brochures. The buses run every 15-20 minutes to Pathos and Coral Bay. Costs 70 cents for adults and 40 cents for children. Be careful though they do get very crowded and sometimes dangerous. An inspector got onto a bus we were on and there were 86 people on it. Are only insured to carry 56. There is always another one that comes along so sometimes it is best to wait. A taxi to Coral Bay and Pathos costs £5.00 each way.

Great excursions to go on are Georges Fun Bus and the waterpark. Great days out for all ages. George is the Ali G of cyprus.

There are a few bars and restaurants within walking distance of the Hotel but everything else is a bus or taxi ride.

Hotel exchange rate is very poor. 74 to the pound. All the shops that change money were about 80-81 and the banks 83.

On a final note I dont think the Hotel warrants 4 stars. We have been to lots of Hotels that have been 4 or 5 but I think this should be a 3. The other all inclusive hotels that we have visited have offered alot more. There is so much to see and do in and around Pathos and you can find some good quality restaurants and bars at good prices that we will definetly not do all inclusive again but this is our preference and others see it in a different light to us. The Hotel is ok but could be alot better for a 4 star considering the amount that we paid.

Great - recommend others to go!!!

I stayed at the Luca Laura Beach Hotel for 2 weeks in July/Aug and it was brilliant! The hotel was lovely, staff were friendly, we were lucky enough to get a sea view even though we weren't supposed to have it. It was gorgeous!! The private beach was a bonus, so if you got bored of being by the pool you could just have a walk down to the beach which was handy. The only thing i could complain about (which isn't a proper complaint) is the location. There wasn't much going on where we were but it was still nice. Also the food had a good choice but i wasn't sure about some of it (probably because i'm a fussy eater and lived on pizza and chips!) All in all it has to be one of the best hols i've been on and i'd highly recommend anyone else to go!!!

Very Good Quality Family Hotel

from Retired Former Globetrotter
Just returned (August 13th) after a two week stay and can endorse the good comments which have been recorded earlier. I simply cannot understand the grumbles which have taken place.
There is a good variation of food on offer at the main meal and also for snacks during the day. All the staff were very friendly to us ( I suppose it depends upon how you treat them).
Just one annoying point. I do wish the hotel would activate their threat to remove towels, lilo's and other objects on unoccupied "reserved" pool loungers before 10-00am. I must add that this was not the German's doing this but predominantly the British.

we have just come back, had a great time.
staff were lovely and very acommodating, the hotel was very nice and clean. there were lots of activities all day for all ages.
the food was lovely, alot was typically greek, which we all loved. also there were english food ,if you wanted that sort of thing. the only thing that bugged me was english people complaining about it,saying they expect to eat what they have in england. ....we are in cyprus!!!!!!!. all i can say about that is that they should have gone to butlins.
some parts of the hotel could do with abit of a face lift, but it was always well presented.
we made lots of friends and enjoyed the whole holiday, just a shame we had to come home.
we would go back again

A Perfect Holiday!

I have just found this review site for the Laura Beach Hotel, and cannot believe some of the adverse comments. We spent three weeks at the Laura Beach hotel in March 2005. From the moment we walked into the hotel we were treated with total courtesy and friendliness by reception, restaurant and domestic staff alike.

The hotel was spotlessly clean throughout. Our room had recently been refurbished to a high standard, and was very comfortable (and we, like other guests before us, also enjoyed the ‘swans’ provided by the domestic staff). A close by wing was also being refurbished at the time of our stay, but the management and workmen ensured that there was minimal disruption or nuisance to guests. A small error on an interim bill was quickly and politely rectified, followed up with a complimentary gift of a fruit basket and bottle of wine by way of apology.

We enjoyed the ample variety and presentation of foods in the restaurant, especially the selection of Cypriot foods, which, I might add, we didn’t get in the Paphos hotel we stayed in the previous year! Over the three weeks the food was a bit repetitive, but there was sufficient variety to allow us to be selective without getting bored with it! There are a few restaurants and tavernas in the immediate area but we didn’t feel the need to use these other than for the occasional drink or coffee during the day. During our stay we encountered a Cypriot bank holiday – and yes, the Cypriots flock to the seaside at bank holidays just like the Brits! Everyone in the hotel was in high spirits and extremely polite and friendly - and we certainly did not experience any change in attitude to us by hotel staff.

The hotel has a great location mid way between Paphos and Coral Bay, with a regular day time bus service right outside the hotel. Unfortunately this does not run at night time, so we had to use the services of a taxi on the few occasions we ventured into town during the evening. Otherwise, we enjoyed the in-house entertainment, quizzes and even tried our luck at bingo.

The one small criticism we have of the hotel is that the grounds appeared to be a little neglected – the flower beds needed a good hoe and weeding, and the grass could have been cut more regularly - the gardeners had actually started working on tidying the palm trees but garden waste was being bagged and dumped very close to the garden boundaries. However, this has not deterred us from booking again for three weeks in March 2006, and we can’t wait!

Nice hotel. Not the best, but certainly not the worst.

from borisbrain
Have just returned from the Laura Beach Hotel, which was really quite nice. There's a really impressive lobby area which gives it a nice spacious feeling and captures the sun nicely. The staff are hard working and quite friendly, and Mike the night concierge is a very friendly chap.

The rooms aren't particularly enormous but are quite comfortable. We upgraded to a sea view for £8 cyp. per day which made for a very pleasant view, but it does expose you to the din of the poolside entertainment each evening. It's fine if you like that sort of thing, but wasn't our cup of tea. Bathrooms in all rooms are tiny, but adequate.

The buffet restaurant is OK - good food but not a vast choice, certainly not up there with the Caribbean resorts. They lay on a special selection for kids which was quite nice. We stayed all-inclusive but by the end of the week we were going to Paphos harbour each evening which was much more lively.

There are extensive grounds to the hotel - a large garden before the path down to the beach - and this can be quite a trek. There's a small sandy beach at the hotel which is quite nice and sunny, although as soon as you get into the water this turns into pebbles and then just downright painful rocks before hitting the sandy bottom again. The sea currents are very strong, so you won't be able to swim very far. Be careful getting in and out - I'd recommend some beach shoes to avoid hurting your feet.

There's a lot to do at the hotel - a jacuzzi, gym, health club, massage, tennis and so forth. There's also an animation program at the hotel, so be prepared for somebody to try to drag you into some kind of activity. The pool isn't that big and is usually swarming with kids, and you'll need to be up early to get a lounger by the pool. There are other loungers in the gardens, and also in an area by the beach, which also had a handy bar.

Speaking of bars, the main hotel bar was ok, with disco if you like that sort of thing.

The hotel is well served by buses - for 70p you can get to Paphos harbour or the other way to Coral Beach. It's really worth getting out the hotel since there is so much to see. We did a jeep safari into the Troodos mountains which was really quite something - don't bother with the minibus version because they can't get onto the off-road tracks where all the good stuff is. You can also take boat trips from Paphos harbour, but don't go on a day when the sea is choppy. Despite its size, the boats travel very slowly indeed, and several paople were struck with sea-sickness.

All in all it was a great trip. The hotel isn't the best I've ever been in, but it's certainly not the worst. I'd be happy to stay there again, but I wouldn't go all-inclusive - there's too much to see and do elsewhere.

Have fun.

nice hotel

enjoyed a lovely weeks holiday at this hotel in june, hotel is a family hotel but as a couple of friends we really enjoyed it. Staff excellent, food good, good choice of buffet style food morning and night. WE stayed half board but would recommend you choose all inclusive as drinks are expensive in the hotel. A number of bars are close by and offer excellent entertainment and drinks are cheaper. Try El Paso bar next door or two brothers over the road for cyprus evening on a friday night. Rooms very clean and maid service very discreet. Only critisism would be entertainment on a night, its aimed at the children or germans who seem happy to play bingo or who wants to be a millionare. The bar after 10pm does offer some musical entertainment for the adults whixh we enjoyed. It is hot in cyprus but the air con in the rooms and local buses is a boon. We visited paphos harbour and town which is picturesque. On the whole would go back, all the hotels along the coast seem a decent standard

Absolutely fab!!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
I really am confused at why people can say this hotel is terrible, it is fab. The maids are pleasant. The food is great a wide range for adults and children. The animation team oh what can I say they were excellent it is very hard to describe the hotel but it really is brill!!!

I would reccommend it to anyone. They checked us in quick and we were in a party of 9. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The scenery was awesome!!!!!! We went on loads of excursions to different towns and to the mountains they were amazing and we learnt alot the pictures taken excursion were fab.I would highly reccomend you went on a cruise to Eygpt. That is a true memory My duaghter was sea sick but even she said it was worth it --->we saw the pyramids!!!

Also the bus takes you anywhere for just 50c. Coral bay is good it is 10 minutes away.Request a sea view room they gave us one without an extra charge. There are two stores within a 2minute walk, its safe to walk on the streets during the night. The store in the hotel is slighty deerer then the puplic store. You should visit the sea during the night after the show.

Go!! thats all I can say!

Top Local Tips for Paphos

Shopping Paphos has access to many shops you would find in England including Debenhams, etc

The Bus Service! The bus service outside the hotel is great. The Number 10 & 15 runs to Pahos Harbour and Coral Bay and only costs 80 cents each! This was a life saver in getting out and about and seeing the sights.

Drivers As our rep said when we arrived, traffic light signals have diff meanings: Green=Go, Amber=Go, Red=Go slower. Drivers here are scary so be careful.
