Not as expectedfrom A TripAdvisor Member
First floor Superior Seaview room was basically furnished. Medium size terrace totally lacked privacy because of low wall between terraces of rooms on either side - too close proximity to neighbours in their jacuzzis. Parasols provided inadequate shade. Ants in bathroom. Noise in corridor late night/early hours of morning.
Dinner(buffet)in the restaurant on three occasions; in each case food was overcooked, some dishes to the point of being unrecognisable, and much the same items presented whether under a Cypriot,Italian or International label. Unappetising, causing later discomfort. Thankfully we discovered an excellent local restaurant which gave us varied and well-cooked and presented dinners for most of our two week stay.
Evening entertainment in Cava bar: second rate singers.
Advisable to take plenty of good reading material.
Fold up table tennis table in garden - not games room as mentioned in hotel details. Gap between two halves of rickety and surface-damaged table, old bats.
On sitting down in any of the public areas a waiter instantly appeared, placed a mat on the table and asked what we wanted to drink. This became very irritating.
We have stayed in 5 star hotels worldwide. Unfortunately, ambience, staff (apart from the chambermaid) and facilities of Azia Beach are well below par for a 5 star hotel. -4 stars more appropriate.
We felt cheated.

There were only 2 things that could have been
1. the restaurant - we chose to go to the restaurant one evening because it had been raining all day. Bad mistake as the food was so disappointing. Worst we actually had in our week there. Unfortunately we expected a la carte since there was a menu at the entrance to the restaurant but on the night we went it was buffet style. The food was only luke warm and the variety of food compared to other hotels of even a lesser standard was very poor.
2. Although the majority of staff were very polite and pleasant there was some that couldn't be bothered being helpful. There was one member of staff in the restaurant who even sighed when asked anything. He didn't get a tip that night!!!

Overall, we were very happy with our stay there.

ARRIVAL: On arrival check in was very quick and the staff very professional and friendly. The porter took our cases to our room (Junior club Suite)
JUNIOR CLUB SUITE: The room was very clean and a complimentary basket of fruit and bottle of wine was in our room. There were dressing gowns and slipper in the room and the bed was turned down every evening with freshly cut fruit left beside the bed. The rooms were cleaned every day. The balcony had a sea view with sunbeds and parasols. the sunset views were spectacular.
BREAKFAST: Lots to choose from, and if you chose to have eggs, they were cooked to order, (none of the pre fried eggs left to go cold).
BUFFET EVENING MEAL: Every night there was a different theme however on the first night we chose to eat late, and the food was rather dry. So I suggest you go early. You could chose to have your meal in the open air ampitheatre which was lovely on the warm nights.
BEACH: What beach?!
POOL: There was no need to take your own beach towels as they were all provided. The Waitress service was excellent around the pool, there was no need to move from your sunbed if you didn't want to. The waiters brought fresh ice cold Melon around in the afternoon which was lovely and refreshing in the hot sun. The pool was gorgeous and had a swim up bar.
t do it!!from A TripAdvisor Member
14 years together going on holiday to wow places and not so wow, it's the first time we've ever been charged to use the safe inside our room; first time I've ever been charged for ice and the first 5 star hotel that has never given in the room complimentary mineral water each day. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Taba twice last year [5*] this year 5* Hilton in Dubai and 5* Kurumba in Maldives - these were all out of this world and fantastic - truly 5* hotels. Azia beach hotel [without no beach] I would be very very generous indeed to give it 3*. As other reviewers have said, staff mostly eastern european, some friendly, some not. Laying around by the pool, the pool was quite nice and quiet for dropping off and reading. Would definately never go back to the Azia and would not recommend to any friends I wanted to keep!!
EXCELLENT HOTELfrom A TripAdvisor Member
There was a lovely bowl of fruit with bottel of wine in the bedroom on arrival. The room (superior sea view room) was lovely, clean and the bathroom was very adequate with bath and shower. The balcony was huge but perhaps not as private as it could have been.
The rooms are cleaned twice a day (thoroughly) and cleaning staff were very pleasant.
The pool bar staff were very friendly, not at all pushy. The pool bar really is great. The pool itself is really wonderful, never to full and always possible to get a good swim. Really beautiful.
The waiters and waitresses were very polite and always did their job correctly. Don't know what nationality they were but we had no problems understanding them! There are also some good restaurants just next to the hotel.
It's good to hire a car if you want to find some nice beaches because the beach next to the hotel is really not great.
On the whole, great holiday in Paphos, great hotel and lovely, attentive staff. The bottel of champagne brought to you on the last day is also a lovely touch.
Average 3-4 star!!from A TripAdvisor Member
The hotel was clean and functional but gave the impression of a business hotel as it lacked character. The majority of waiters were Polish and Hungarian and gave the impression that they couldn't care about the needs of their guests. However the pool bar staff were too attentive in trying to sell you drinks whilst you were relaxing by the pool. One got the impression that the management were trying to sell lots of overpriced drinks to guests.
Our room had a lovely view and we had a terrace as we were on the ground floor, but it had an interleading door to the next room that was paper thin and we could hear everything that was said and more!
The disappointing highlight was the lack of sandy beach! The gardens were also very run down and in the two weeks that we were there, half the grass was mowed, leaving the rest looking like a jungle!
However, in terms of location, it was reasonable as it was situated about 10 minutes outside of Paphos and the bus stopped right outside the hotel. I would suggest that you hire a car for a few days as this gives you a chance to escape the dreaded dining room cuisine that is the same most nights!
All in all, I think it should be rated 3 to 4 Stars and if you do stay there, definitely book yourself on the Cairo trip as this was amazing!
Ok...but !from A TripAdvisor Member
My family and I enjoyed a very good vacation in Cyprus. Azia Beach Hotel contributed in a small way to this. The hotel did not quite live up to its various advertisments however turned out to be adequate.
Rooms seem a little tired, however they are clean and well serviced.
Beware of 6 cyprus pounds per item charged for anything you put in the minibar fridge! ..unreasonable?
Also a charge to use the in room safe unusual?
Staff mainly of some Russian origin (maybe Polish?) all rather indifferent in attitude.
Pool facilities..excellent..especially for kids (hotels saving grace!)
Food; breakfast buffet reasonable but predictable. Lunch: ..never tried it so cant comment: Evening Meal: ..not good at all, various themed buffets somewhat akin to school dinners!. very disapointing and very expensive!
(if you are on B&B and take an evening buffet meal beware that they charge full rate for kids too!)
We used the Hotel purely for somewhere to sleep, and the pool area for sunworshiping ..for this it was fine..
There is a very small beach area a few minutes walk away ..very small! ..like no room for sun loungers. If the sea is at all choppy the beach is unusable for small kids. There is a raised sandy terrace thats not bad.
Its a shame that more local cypriots dont work there as they are such friendly and welcoming people ... seems to be lots of Eastern Europeans working in Cyprus .. not doing the place any favours!
Excellent local eating places: .. Fat Mommas (but you got to be hungry and need to book) Chloe's.. superb Chinese,
Overall ....Azia is an acceptable Hotel to use as a base while exporing Cyprus
Top Local Tips for Paphos
Akamas/Lara Take the time to go up the coast to Lara and beyond into the Akamas peninsula. Totally unspoilt.
Hondros Taverna Don't go to the tourist trap restaurants on the harbour to eat. Have a drink there an watch the sunset and then wander round to the Hondros Taverna (on the main road to Kato Pafos almost opposite Debenhams). It does wonderful Greek food and some lovely local rose wine.
Lots to see in and around Pathos Great Archeological attractions
