Great accomodation, food and staff

We were very impressed with the standard of our room, the up grade to executive was worth it, sea view and fruit wine robes were all nice. The towels and robes have probably been used for a few years now and lack that quality feel. A/C heating was great worked very quickly to heat up the room, didn't need the cold on as it was a pleasant 21C. The food can not be faulted, good quality lots of choice and as much as you want. Its not worth the up grade for 17 Euros/person to drink unless you intend staying all day and night just drinking! We did't par take in any of the entertainment but it did look a bit Butlins for our liking. The health suite is good but only opens from 9am to 6pm . Get the hire car from across the road. I did a deal for 4 days car and 7 days jeep for 175 Euro. Euro car would want two or three times that! There is a very small beach but plenty of grassed terraces and pool surround if you just want to sun bathe.Over all great place and we would return again. All of the staff were very friendly and help full.

Great hotel great staff great food. The best thing about holiday was Suzzanne Briton and Kaz from Thompsons they kept us entertained and made us feel welcome joining in. We enjoyed it so much in July this year that we came back. This is our 3rd visit and probably not our last.

All I can say is the staff were outstanding and the service fantastic. We have done Gold before but the staff here were so friendly and genuine not false. The location was slightly out of the way especially in the winter when the surrounding bars are closed but it has a good bus service and cheap taxis back if you are in town for a beer. The all inclusive drinks option is a must and even totally all-inclusive is good too as the lunch is of good variety and the snacks too. The bar service is a bit slow as you cannot get served at the bar as it is waitress service which is lovely but sometimes you do wait a bit. The bar staff are fantastic despite being so under pressure so come on Atlantica Hotels appreciate your staff and lighten the load. The locals are so friendly and go out of their way to talk and get to know you, we will definitely return in the summer of 2007 where I am sure we will see another side to the Atlantica Golden Beach, which will again make for a great holiday. Well done too for not having a stuffy dress code which sometimes is off putting even if you do love dressing up for dinner, it is nice to have a break and dress in jeans, not too casual but just enough to make you comfortable. We are a young couple who love going Gold due to the children thing and the fact you are going to get good service, food and rooms are nice but we have been put off in the past by other Gold hotels due to the stuffy clients and the entertainment but the Atlantica has changed our minds and guess what we didn't even mind bean bag boules this time. We had a great time and recommend this hotel. The staff to give a special thank you to are, Julie at reception, Monika in the bar who was a lovely young girl. George in the restaurant (my wee pal) and Peter one of the waiters.

4 stars - you must be laughing ....

Coming from a 5 star hotel in Limasol, we were really shocked about this so-called 4 star hotel. Does one star make such a difference ??? The room was very small, all the furniture was shabby, as I expect it in a 1 star hotel in PARIS!! The beds were not comfortable and the mattrass was not even covered up by some nice sheets. Impossible to sleep before midnight because of the noise in the corridors and when the neighbour took a shower there was such a noise that we couldn't even hear the tv anymore. The food was ok, but certainly not 4 star ... This is a hotel we certainly will never go back to.

superb hotel, staff very friendly, relaxation avaialble beside the sea on grassed areas. food wonderful. entertainment suited most however main Entertainer Suzanne Brittain was utterly brilliant and deserves to be in theatre!

Lovely relaxing holiday

We wanted a totally relaxing child-free holiday and we found it. I would say that the average age of guest was 40-50, some older and some younger. I wouldn't think it suitable for younger single people, as everyone appeared to be in couples or groups.
"Golden Beach" was a bit of a misnomer. there was hardly any beach and what little there was was certainly not golden. Nevertheless, we couldn't fault the hotel for cleanliness and cheerful service. There were several terraces of sun loungers all with their own raffia umbrella. The dining room was buffet style, but the menu was wide and varied with staff there if you needed anything.
If I had to find a fault it was the fact that despite the heat they did not have the a/c turned on. When I enquired at the desk they told me most politely that it was still winter! so we had to open the balcony doors at night for ventilation and the traffic was never ending along the very busy road outside. It made me extremely glad that I had gone armed with earplugs!

We stayed at the Golden Beach August 2005 and loved it, really friendly staff and good daytime and evening entertainment. I loved the lunchtime venue, away from the main buiding down a slight slope in what looks like it used to be an independant eatery that had been added to the hotel later. What a view, sitting outside, under the grapevines about 15 feet from the sea. If you want a relaxing holiday, stay here. I would add however that it is not for younger agegroups,(just how we like it nowadays) av age was about 45/50 and almost all were couples. The only critisism I would have is that there is hardly any beach at all, the hotel standards are very high and the food is good with a good selection, I know some people say it is repetative but come on.. try something different instead of wanting meat and 2 veg every day, you never know you might like it. Would deffinately go back here.

Just had a weeks stay at this hotel and it is above average. The food is good and plentiful, although there are a lot of sauces, so if you prefer plain english food, you may be short of choices. This time of year there are plenty of sunbeds, and sun last week. It was a pleasure to get up late and find a good area to sunbathe. The location is as described in the brochure, remote but we are not ones to leave the poolside. The all inclusive option booked via the travel agent was great value.
The room was excellent and the cleanliness standards are second to none.
The entertainment was good, the reps try really hard and are friendly. The music is mainly aimed at those born in the 30's and 40's, but the resident group "score" try and play something for everyone.

Just got back from a weeklong stay at the atlantica golden beach hotel with my boyfriend and we had a fantastic time!
We went in December, and being out of season really I was slightly dubious of what to expect, but it was really lovely. The hotel was very smart and clean, rooms spotless and cleaned everyday, staff friendly and helpful, and food delicious with lots of choice! We would go down to dinner feeling still rather full from a late lunch, intending to just have a little snack, but with different foods to choose from every night we always ended up piling our plates high! And then eating some of the yummy deserts too!!
The hotel was mainly full of the 'older generation' who seemed to really like the entertainment 'two'z company', a keyboard player and singer, not really our cup of tea, they sounded pretty awful to me but lots of people seemed to enjoy them. :D
There wasn't much to do around the hotel, just some bars close by, but the bus stop was literally just outside the hotel that takes you to Coral bay, and across the road is the bus stop which will take you to paphos town/harbour and the market. Found much of paphos to be like England abroad so I would defiantly recommend hiring a car, we went with streetwize who seemed more reasonable than the company the reps advise you to get, as students we were on a tight budget! We drove to Limassol, the Troodos mountains and the capital Nicosia, all of which I would recommend. We also got two buses to Paphos bird park which was worth visiting, would have been much handier to get there in a car but the buses were ok! All in all a fantastic holiday, would love to go in the summer when more places would be open and it would have been hotter/livelier, but it was a great relaxing holiday!

Stayed all inclusive at the Atlantica Golden Beach for a week and had a fantastic holiday.I went with my boyfriend, we are only 19 and although the majority of people there were older the hol was relaxing and peaceful Everything about the whole holiday was just perfect but the food was absolutely outstanding. The staff was very friendly, ensuring they catered for every need. There was an extremely personal touch to this holiday, staff would greet you by your name, and wave you off at the end of the holiday. Entertainment was brilliant, the holiday reps were great. Location not perfect but only quick bus into paphos. would definatlely recommend this hotel and will be going back again next year.

recently got back from staying here, food not very good, al la carte was awful, others complained,entertainment not very good, rooms really clean and large, we upgraded, brilliant views and wonderful sunsets, staff very friendly, bottle of champagne in our room after day out, for husbands birthday, nice gesture we didnt tell anyone, very quiet what we wanted, lots of germans, we didnt expect that, but friendly all the same, still put their towels out at 7.15am made us laugh, very sad, Troodos brilliant, we had snow, I looked silly, flip flops and shorts....
great place to chill no children or teenagers nagging,
will try a thompson gold again..maybe in our 70s not many our age there only in our 40s great all the same...

just returned from the atlantica golden beach, paphos, cyprus and had a truly wonderful time. no children makes it totally relaxing and peaceful. the staff were all very attentive and friendly, kamila and sebastian in the bar and lucas in the restaurant just a few of our favourites. the food was excellent and had a good selection every night. our a la carte evening was made to be quite special. up graded to all inclusive on arrival which makes everything hassle free. reps are based in the hotel and are very informative. we would highly recommend this hotel and would love to return.

Great Hotel

Myself and my husband stayed here and we found the hotel to be of a 1st class standard. We had a superior room with a sea view which was well worth it as the sunsets were so beautiful, we watched them nearly every day. The only two things that we could say that let this hotel down was the entertainment in the ballroom in the evening that was provided by the reps, it was of poor standard and very unprofessional and one of the singers there sounded like an average karaoke act. In the end we went out of the hotel in the evening to a nice friendly/homely bar called 'The Lucky Genie' and you only have to turn left out of the hotel and its about 200m on the same side of the road - well worth a visit but it is closed over the xmas period. The second thing was the food, it was nice enough and excellently presented but there was not much variety and the foods were quite fatty and the only thing they had every night on the carvery was roast pork, everything else was in a sauce. The sweets just consisted mainly of cream fillings and it got quite boring after a few days. We must mention Helen though on reception as she was so friendly and helpful and also the chamber maids as they did such a good job coming in twice a day to make the bed and clean the room etc. The only advice I can give is don't book any excursions with the reps as they are overpriced and you can get exactly the same thing opposite 'The Lucky Genie', we know as we booked the Egypt flight with the reps and it was more expensive than other companies but it is the same flight etc. Also if you were thinking of going to the Troodos mountains hire a car and drive up there as it is much cheaper and the roads are smooth if you go along the motorway to Limmasol and follow the signs for the mountains and that way you can stop and look at the spectacular views along the way. We actually did that and went up as high as Mount Olympus. Overall though we did enjoy our stay at this hotel and would recommend it. BEWARE of the English people that stop you in Paphos and Coral Bay as they are offering you scratchcards and of course EVERYONE'S a winner! It is all to do with time share and they will be persistent so say 'no thank you' and just walk on as they will try to drag you into converastion. These people also drive in cars and bikes and will pull up and talk and offer you a lift saying you have won a special prize on the scratchcards.

This hotel was brilliant, such lovely service all the staff were so friendly. My only quibble was the rooms are not very big just bog standard hotel rooms not special at all but then again you only sleep in them!

We had a fantastic start to our holiday here, the hotel manager even upgraded us to thier sister company in Limossol for our honeymoon-jacuzzi on the balcony, four poster bed, and an upgrade to all inclusive, we didnt pay a penny extra. Now thats wot i call good service!

Not cheap or cheerful Don't expect a great shopping experience here, save your money for a good night out. There are not really good shops in Paphos, with prices at least the same as the UK. Generally the shops sell the usual tourist tat, and there seems to be no local craft shops.
