My husband and I have just returned from Cyprus, where we have been going for the past 14 years. This year for the first time we were staying at the Kapetanios Hotel. We could highly recommend this hotel, it was clean, friendly and the food was excellent, we will definitely return there next year. Good bus service to the old town and also the tourist area.

Good value for money!
All staff, especially the receptionist were welcoming, helpful and friendly. Rooms were good sized, comfortable and clean.
Location was excellent, quiet and peaceful yet just a street away from the main promenade route. Would have given one or two more of a rating if the the food had been good. ie not bland, not as if it had been in the warmers for a day, like you get in a 2 star hotel in Spain.
And what about a nice dessert now and again!

Three generations of my family recently returned to Cyprus to visit the places we lived as a forces family during the 60's & 70's and we had a fantastic time.
We chose this hotel for it's locations as we wanted to tour about in the car. We booked half board thinkg that if we got back tired at least we had a meal waiting in the hotel and wouldn't have to go out. In fact we never wanted to eat out. The hotel had a mix of nationalities staying and all tastes were catered for with a mix of international and local cuisine.
The hotel and amenities were of a high standard and the staff were very friendly.
With a mixed age group, a vegetarian and an autistic boy of nine we had every need catered for and will definately return again.
It is a family run hotel that made the guests feel like family.

We have just come back from this hotel.First off I would say my family and I have travelled extensively for the last 30 years and stayed in dozens of hotels in many countries ranging from budget to 5 star.We found this to be an axcellent 3 star. Large rooms, friendly staff, very good food.Public rooms, bar and pool very clean. In a good position for promenade and old town. Eight members of our family stayed there and will be back next year.Great value for money.

Just got back from staying at this hotel, first of all I will give you the positives points of this hotel, the staff were friendly and hospitabal, the bedroom was very spacious and cleaned every day,the shower was good and the balcony was nice to sit out on at night before you went out.
Now the bad points of the hotel, the food was rubbish, breakfast consisted of salads food like cucumber, tomatoes, and spicy meats and cheap sliced packet cheese, the hot food was streaky bacon flooded in oil,the sausages were little hot dog type sausages which were awful, with beans which were just about warm, evening meals revolved around beetroot salad(so if you like beetroot you will be ok)Russian salad, potato salad which was nice and different forms of rice, most main meals consisted of either Pork,Chicken or Beef in different varities each night,a couple of nights they put on decent food but that was all, entertainment whilst you eat was pathetic a magician was on twice in 2 days and cypriot singers whilst you eat.
The lifts in the hotel kept breaking down and me been stuck on the 5th floor kept having to walk down the stairs, but no good for someone who is disabled, the hotel was nothing more than a glorified knocking shop of prostitutes going with old men in there 70's,one night around 8.30pm I was in the bar talking to some English people with my back to a 42" tv when 4 dirty cypriot men put on a pornographic film for 10 minutes laughing there heads of when children were around,I found this disgusting, finally this hotel was full of Russians,I would say it was 90/10 Russian/British and it was the Russians who were catered for, pool very small but ok,so if you are going to Cyprus go somewhere else.

We were 2 sisters and a wheelchair mum aged 89. A very friendly helpful hotel, good value for money. We read reviews about poor food before we went, but the food was excellent for a 3 star hotel. It was a buffet, catering for english, german and greek tastes. For breakfast there were cornflakes or muesli, the continental meat sausage, cheese, cucumber tomato, eggs boiled and one other way each norning with sausage or beans. There was fruit juice and toast- cooked by yourself so it was hot. then tea coffee cocoa. The evening meal (buffet)was usually a selection of 5 salads plus cold meat or cheese, then a selection of 3or 4 hot dishes of excellent quality with roast potatoes and frozen veg - a bit soggy- but Ok. Puddings got a bit boring- 5 different cakes to cut your own slice and fruit. We had been prepared to go out for the evening meal- but there was no need.
We mentioned 3 faults in the room and all were fixed in a day. They did make a couple of errors- somehow forgot the wakeup call- but we were up anyway and gave my mum the disabled room which was excellent but no other room was very near for her to find us. They placed us next door to each other the next day but all the other rooms had baths with a shower so it was difficult for my mum to get in and out.We managed though.
The parking is easy round the hotel and the sea is only about 100 yards away (narrow, mixture of sand and shingle mainly)beach and very shallow. The main town too was as they said 15 minutes walk away. There was a promenade along the sea front which made the walk very easy and pleasant with the wheelchair.
The swimming pool was easily accessible and my mother managed to get in and out of it. There was a pleasant large covered area by the pool, for shade and plenty of loungers and seats.
There was a cyprus night with greek food and dancers and a singer on another night. It is an excellent choice for mature couples who do not want nightlife. There are places around but not like the regular tourist area up the coast. In the evenings it was very quiet around. We found it a central base for driving all over the island and welcomed the quiet at night. There were some couples in their 20s 30s but mainly the clients were 50s 60s 70s. The hotel was better than we had expected

We upgraded after the first night because air conditioning was to loud. The upgrade was worth it, nice bedroom. Breakfast was very basic. Near to town centre and very close to the beach. We would go again. If you are looking for a budget hotel we would say this was ideal.
