Wonderfully nice

Our party of 12 staff, just had our annual Xmas Party at the Bunch of Grapes and frankly from the moment we first walked in to check the place out. We just knew it was perfect, and believe me, we know an awful lot of restaurants. Making the arrangements was a joy in itself, but the degree of cosiness, hospitality and overall friendliness at the event was second to absolutely none The food and service was just fantastic too. They put on a special Turkey and catered for a couple of vegetarians. We all ate like kings and everyone commented later on how surprisingly tasty and enjoyable it truly was, and bear in mind we are all familiar with Cypriot cuisine. Absolutely, everybody enjoyed themselves immensely there and the party atmosphere was possibly the best any of us have ever experienced. And although we made a bit of a mess with party poppers and had at least one true party animal, if you know what i mean, the staff were absolutely understanding and joined in the fun too. Stavros the Owner features in many photos of the night, and Toni was always so very attentive. Our party was probably one of the most successful and enjoyable ever, that we will never forget and that fact I attribute directly to the Bunch of Grapes and it's truly wonderful staff.
The Real Pissouri - Paradise Found

We dined there again yesterday (9 November 2007), the latest of many enjoyable evenings at the Bunch of Grapes Restaurant, which is excellent in all respects. It is owned and managed by a local family, Stavros himself learned his trade from his days in the Columbia Hotel, through the Vraka, Pepis and other tavernas, and when he bought the Bunch he implemented all this genuine experience. Its popularity speaks for itself, it is full every weekend evening, summer and winter alike, booking is almost essential.
I refute the criticism of Stravos and his staff about their attitude to children - they welcome children. We have had first hand experience of this with our grandson and niece, both of whom we would be happy to leave with Stavros and his wife at any time. But they do not welcome children whose parents either cannot or will not even attempt to keep them under control, for example by preventing them from spreading butter on restaurant chairs so they can laugh at the distress of clients who then sit in the chairs such children have contaminated getting it all over their clothes! Even worse are the parents who not only fail to prevent such behavior, but condone it and walk out without paying when it is brought to their attention by the restaurant owner.

I have just returned from Pissouri last weekend after our most recent visit. Over the last 5 years I have visited on 7 separate occasions. Why do I go? Despite continued expansion in the area I still find the village a lovely place to stay and the locals friendly and so easy to talk to although language can on occasion require some visual expression! During our visits we have got to know most of the tavernas in Pissouri and indeed the surrounding area. We have without question always found a warm welcome from all and by now are on first name terms with many.
On this latest visit we were dismayed to learn of the criticism given to the "Bunch of Grapes" which has always been one of our regular eating places
We have visited this taverna 3 times during the last fortnight and as always found the atmosphere relaxed and surroundings excellent. The menu is varied offering a wide choice of Cypriot food which when served will meet the demands of the most pernickity! The proprietor Stavros along with his staff are most attentive and cannot do enough to make you most welcome. This attention is possibly reflected in the need, more often than not, to book a table during the height of the season.
My compliments to the Bunch of Grapes and to Pissouri as a whole!

It started off as a nice evening, entered the restaurant and was pleased by the surroundings. It was quiet, we were the only ones at the restaurant. The menu was provided to us and it was limited but we had heard the food was good. Our party was around 15, 8 adults and 5 kids. We were talking to the waiter and discussing how nice it is to be out with the kids and he was friendly and saying how good it is that families do go out together. We ordered our food and the starters began to arrive, a few more parties also arrived. Suddenly and out of the blue the manager/owner walked in and rudely stated that that this is a high-class restaurant and that the children must be kept under control and quiet or he will throw us out! This came as a huge shock as we were sitting in a restaurant with that was almost empty and the children were well behaved. All I can say about this restaurant is that they are not family orientated and that for this reason I would not recommend it. I've been coming to Cyprus for the past 30 years and have never been treated in this way. We walked out of the restaurant as soon as he said this!

Showing cyprus off to friends should be fun not embarressing. Being threatened and shouted at rates low for me. The Bunch of grapes boasts an eclectic menu which is neither cypriot nor quite european whilst also including a kid's menu. So imagine my surprise when after having booked the early seating (7ish) and informing the restaurant that we would bring children, we were told to make our children invisible or we would be thrown out if more customers were to arrive. Weren't we paying customers??? The owner would not reason with us so sadly we had no choice but to leave. If you're looking for a pleasant family night out with good food, stay in the square. This is definately NOT one of those hidden away treasures you hear about.

I cannot give a review of this place as a hotel since I did not stay there but I can give a review as a visitor to the restaurant! This is supposed to be a family restaurant, which welcomes families with their children! Am sorry to say that this is not the case at all! If children are being rowdy and naughty running around disturbing other customers yes I would expect a POLITE word from the manager/owner which I am sure that every reasonable person would accept! But the setting here was the opposite, the children were well behaved eating their starters and the restaurant had just 1 more table with 4 people. Just as the food started to arrive, the manager comes up to us and very rudely threatens to throw us out if our children are not quite! When I got up to ask the reason he was so rude and how he expects children between the ages of 1-6 (7 in total) to be quiet, he actually threw us out and was even swearing at us!!!.... Is the word Disgraceful a strong enough word for such behaviour...definitely not! This has left me and my friends feeling so angry and I would NOT recommend this place to any family
if youre in Pissouri you will find the Square restaurants much friendlier and with dissent food!

On holiday with friends in Pissouri we heard about The Bunch of Grapes and booked a table for 15 (8 adults & 7 children). Shortly after placing our orders the manager came out and rudely informed us that if our children didn't keep the noise down we could leave. Please bear in mind the restaurant was empty at the time and the children were chatting but in no terms shouting. We got up and left. My advice don't bother.

We have been many times reminds me of UK Oldy Worldy Pub with log fire in winter and outside in the summer the courtyard is beautiful. Food is excellent service is good and then you can stroll to your room which is cosy after enjoying the wine! We are going with some friends on Boxing Day for 2 nights cant wait.

I booked this after looking on the net as a birthday surprise for my husband, we stayed overnight. Absolutely excellent in every way. We liked it so much we have been back twice since and are going again in October with some friends.
