Historical Traveller Reviews of Atlantica Oasis Hotel
awful stayed 12 hours that was enough
from mandy050I had read the reviews but tried to keep an open mind upon our arrival 28th december. As soon as we pulled down the narrow road and outside The hotel my heart sank it was just what i feared
although the staff were friendly at the reception it was shabby and needed updating. We paid nearly £2600 for a family of five. upon arrival in our rooms it didnt get any better. tatty furniture portable tv and a pokey bathroom
We went down for evening meal not a lot of choice and the entertainment was awful. This was not the standard we were use to and we consequently moved the next morning ironically to another 4t in paphos of which we had a fabulous time.
We have been to many 4t hotels and think the only reason this has been given this rating is for the facilities rather than the accomodation and overall the interior needs a good update.
Note we were then charged over £200 cancellation fees
Good Value
from A TripAdvisor Member(Nags Head across from hotel definiteley one of the latter). Will definiteley return to Cyprus but next time will be a seaside location like Protaras.
Christmas at the Atlantica
from MonorThe entertainment team were 2girls and a boy who were very enthusiastic in everything they did. However there was an awful lot of Bingo.
Because the hotel has a mix of all inclusive, half board and bed and breakfast you seemed to have to give your room number all the time even though wearing wristbands.
The Gala Christmas meal was very nice but not much different from the usual meals. For anyone who had to pay it was 25 Cyprus pounds rather than the usual cost of 8 Cyprus pounds and I do not think it was worth the difference.
Cypru itself is very interesting and historical and we had a really good time.
not that good
from A TripAdvisor MemberFirstly the good points. The hotel was very clean and the staff excellent, very happy and helpfull.
Now the bad points. This was booked on a price breaker, Thomson 4 star sellection, west Cyprus. Not sure how Limassol was west Cyprus, it is more East Cyprus and the hotel location was not very good, nothing to do there, only a few shops and pubs.We have been on many Thomson pricebreakers holidays and have always had a good hotel, this was stated as 4T rating but in my view was nearer 2 star. The food was awfull, no varitey and stogy and the all inclusive was poorly done , you had to ask for a snack and this made you feel a nuisance. The pool was good but to cold to go into, indoor pool was a bit of an add on. The room was basic and old, in need of a refit. This holiday was good value for us but I would not have been happy to pay the full price. Most people where hoping to go to Pafhos but I suspect Thomson had a deal for this hotel. The weather was great, trips half the price of Thomson if you booked down the road.
Dissapointed!
from BHHOne morning no fried eggs until having to ask!
Room basic could only find two english speaking chanels on tv fortunately one was Sky news so you could keep up to date!
Building of villas right next door! and do they start early!!
Pool freezing! can't understand why they don't heat it... over the week saw only three persons use it!
Very noisy location! fast accelerating cars and motor bikes etc!..
Beach was awful!
Entertainment each night not great but the group Midas Touch could knock a tune out albeit they were usually dated songs!
Wouldn't return to either this hotel or Cyprus as a whole...too much building going on!
Happy to answer any questions if mailed!
Fantastic Hotel
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe facilites in the hotel were great. Half board so didnt need to eat out much but the Nags head opposite is great. Shops and eating houses including MacDonalds and Pizza Hut for the kids all just around the corner. Beach across the road o.k not fabulous. A bit noisy at night but will probably depend on what part of Hotel you are in. We backed onto a road with a couple of quite loud pubs. Fantastic Hotel location perhaps lets it down slightly. We would definately go back.
Too large with too little
from A TripAdvisor MemberStayed H/B. Breakfast and evening meal had pretty good selection although only luke warm. Microwave available if you could work it in the restaurant. Payed extra whilst there for all inclusive, for a total of 8 days. Must be a minimum of 4 days at a time at £10 a day each. Not bad value although A/I had restricted menus during the day. Lots of drink available after queueing for a ticket first, when busy, the queue was 6-8 deep with only one bartender. Not so good. Visited the Nags Head across the road, excellent service and discovered "proper" not watered down beer. This put me off drinking in the hotel for the rest of the holiday. Hotel entertainment not the best, lacked any zest and bars were too small to accommodate all guest during peak time - poor! . Entertainment team did not mix with the guests during the day, failed to encourage guests to get involved with day time activities. Kids club was good although individually run by the tour companys(Thomson-First Choice etc.)Not all in one! Pool was very cold and access was difficult due to overcrowding of sunbeds around the pool. Not enough sunbeds available during peak holidays and towels had to be out by 0800hrs to get a reasonable spot, if at all.
As described in earlier reviews "ok" if you like Blackpool/Butlins and tacky gift shops!
awful, noisy, terrible food
from A TripAdvisor MemberWould not recommend unless you enjoy Blackpool!
fantastic holiday
from A TripAdvisor MemberExcellent 3 star Hotel
from A TripAdvisor MemberI cannot understand the previous review regarding food and staff, the staff could not have been more friendly and even more so when you got to know them better, you can have a really good laugh with them. The food is excellent and as for not being hot (previous reviewer) we very often had to let ours cool down..! The choice was excellent too, we expected the usual weekly turn round of choice but to our amazement the second week was different again. I have to say that I'm usually fussy with my food abroad, well so my wife says, but on this holiday my only problem was to make a choice from all the different dishes I did like and no they were not all English dishes they were varied. Even then if you did not like all the choices every single night there was always a roast joint to choose from. In fact the food choice is far too varied to describe here.
We booked half board but then having had one meal out with a few drinks we soon realised that the extra £10 Cyp per person for All inc' was very, very reasonable plus most of the resteraunts were selling English food anyway and the choice was more varied at the hotel plus if you like a drink on your hols there were 33 choices of cocktails, all be it only 19 were free on the AI, but hey what a choice and of course beer, spirits and wine. I do admit that there was sometimes a wait at the bar and would imagine that it is worse during the height of the season.
The cleanliness of this hotel was 5*, the rooms were cleaned daily (7 days a week) even the whole of the surrounding pool area was washed down daily. The towels were changed on a daily basis, not really necessary due to there constant water shortage. We had a double hotel room on the second floor (room 201)over looking the pool which was very spacious. Although the bathroom was a bit on the small side the shower was excellent compared with others we've endured even 5* ones. Rooms which did not over look the pool could be subject to some traffic noise.
One thing that did annoy us was the cats, yes there are cats, about 6, that are kept in a corner outside but are allowed to roam around and if you don't like cats, like us, it can be a bit annoying but not enough too spoil our holiday.
Over all a very enjoyable stay.
Top Local Tips for Limassol
Adonis Restaurant This restaurant is not far from Burger King and offers, Italian, Chinese, Greek & other. We dined there four times and the Garlick Mushrooms are absolutely heaven. The Chicken Al la Creme is delicious and not once in the times we went did we experience a bad meal.
shared mini bus taxi. Beware! The receptionist told us of a mini bus that picks up from various hotels and goes to Pathos for around £7 per head. We booked this and was picked up at 10. This taxi did not pick up at any other hotel, instead it picked locals up that were travelling to and from work. We went through housing estates, hospital grounds and shopping malls. We were picked up to return to the hotel only to be told by quite an aggressive taxi driver that he wanted more money to take us back to the hotel as it was not on his round and he would drop us at a bus stop for the same price we had paid to get to Pathos. We did not agree with this and he made us feel very uncomfortable. As we reached Limmasol he asked if we had made our minds up, we told hom we would pay £15 if he took us to hotel he very reluctantly agreed and started shouting in Greek which made us feel very awkward as the rest of his passengers were locals.
Car Rentals Book when you get there. I shopped around on the net and made contact on arrival. Costed £96 rather than the £160 first Choice wanted for similar four seater car with a/c
