Avoid Going To This Hotel
My husband and I holiday three times a year and always stay in 5* hotels we have been to grecian Park in Protaris and coral beach in Paphos, we also stayed at Golden Bay in Larnanca 3 years ago and thought it was ok then. This visit was awful, the reception staff are rude and struggle to smile, few speak English and if they do it is very poor, our room, the decor was dated, our bathroom was crawling with insects, the hairdryer is so old I would be there all day trying to dry my hair, there are no tea/coffee making facilaties and no iron in the room, if you want to iron anything, you have to go to a dis used toilet to use an iron, breakfast is full of junk food and the only fruit is out of a tin in syrup, no one has the courtessy to show you to a table its just find your own and find a member of staff to get you a pot of coffee, none of them speak English or know how to smile and they often snatch your plate/cutlery away as soon as you put your fork down so if you want more food you hav...Read more

Not bad at all...would visit again
I'm really disappointed that others have had bad experiences here as we found this hotel to be very acceptable. We stayed just for 2 nights but found the facilites more than acceptable, food very good and our room was comfortable and clean. I admit is is by no means the five star place it claims to be and the reception staff were a bit "deetsy" when we first arrived, but overall I enjoyed the brief stay.

Worst Hotel EVER!
I have been going to Larnaca for the past 15 years and have stayed in numerous hotels, but we have never stayed at the Golden Bay as we thought due to it being a 5* Hotel it would be out of our price range. This year we decided to give ourselves a treat and the pay the extra for staying in the Golden Bay. Once we reached the hotel the reception staff seemed helpful and had no problems there. As i had a quick look around while checking in, the hotel looked almost bland and had no character, their centrepiece was a bright orange sofa in the strangest shape I have ever seen!!! Eventually we got to our room, the air conditioning was leaking in the bathroom so we asked to be moved....they moved us to another room, once in me and my partner could not understand what made this room part of a 5* hotel it was small, dated decor, very old facilities, the ugliest bathroom suite and to top that all off the had given us 2 single beds rather than the double that was requested!!! This is my sixth visit to Cyprus (I travel a lot, so I tried many hotels in many countries). I was very happy with Grecian Bay in Agia Napa, quite happy in Pafos Coral Beach, but this time I stay in Larnaca, Golden Bay 5* hotel.
That was the wrong move... On checkin they requested my credit card and told that they will block a "security deposit". Just in case. If I escape without
paying my bills. I tried to argue (I fully prepaid my stay, there was no information on security deposit). Ok, I agreed to pay the deposit (they asked for CYP100 (US$220)). Later I found that they blocked twice more!!
They blocked $450 on my credit card! This is a plain fraud! I WILL NEVER stay in this hotel, NEVER! Furthemore, airconditioning is really poor, it is too hot in the room. I contacted reception but they failed to do anything
about it (they simply save electricity). The beach is also much worse than in Agia Napa. Even worse, Golden Bay is about 10 kilometers from Larnaca, so if you are looking ...Read more
