Is this really the same Cactus Hotel Larnaca

“WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a difference two months makes”
As the Headline states................... From my last visit a huge change in the look of the reception area, I wanted to see the rooms.
I stayed 2 nights this time, again I was pleasantly greeted & reconized by the reception staff, which i think is great.
The room had a fresh look about it, part tile floor, part carpet, & the heating worked :-)
The whole hotel looked like it was going through a transformation.............
I have all ready booked my next business trip with the Cactus & look forward to how it will look in season.

Cactus Hotel November 2007

I Arrived at the Cactus on Friday 2nd Nov 2007 at approx 1700, yes it was getting dark so I couldn't see much of the outside, but it did look the same run down, from neglect.
A smartly dressed receptionist, who was very polite & courteous, greeted me.
I had only booked a small single room, however when I got to my room it was a double.
The room had a clean odour too it, however me being me, & what I had read previous, I had to inspect it throughout.
Surprised, I was as the room was definitely clean even under the bed!!!!!!!!!
The next day I met with the same receptionist who asked me how my night was, I replied it was OK, what I had read about the hotel I thought I would be in for a rough night.
I was then approached by 2 gents, who in turn introduced themselves as the new hotel management as of the 1st of November, and explained to me that they were starting the process of turning this hotel back to it's former self.

A Life of Grime!!

In all the years that I have been travelling abroad, this is the worst accommodatin I have ever seen. The staff were nice enough -receptionist, a cleaner, and a handyman - wasn't there long enough to see if there were any more staff. I read somewhere that the hotel was refurbished in 2001, and I believe that. I also believe that it has never been cleaned since. One expects some dust etc during hot weather, but not hair balls under the bed sitting on top of pure dirt, skirtings that were filthy with all manner of "spillages", between the spars on the armschairs had obviously never been cleaned since they were bought (presumably 5 years). The bathroom area, was an entomologists dream. The cockroaches in the bedroom were the end. All in all not even someone who was hoping for an "Adventure" holiday would enjoy this hotel. We booked out an hour after we checked in, and that was including the time to make a series of phone calls to find alternative accommodation. In all honesty...... Read more

Worst Hotel Ever

My friend and I booked in at 5.30pm on 16/10/2006 and were on our way to another Hotel at 7.30pm. The smell outside the Hotel should have been warning enough but we still ventured inside and checked in - much to our sorrow. The only thing I can say is that the sheets may have been clean but I was too afraid to inspect them too closely. I was shocked to see that state of the carpet and the dust and filth under the bed and bedside cabinets was undescribable. The beds were bolted to the floor and I cannot understand why as you would need to be insane to try to run off with one of them, but maybe the beds were in the habit or running off themselves!!!!!. We went to the nearest shop and bought bleach, disinfectant, cleaning materials and cockroach spray and on our return informed Reception that our rooms were dirty and they said that they would send a maid, but seemed totally amazed that we were complaining.
