My husband and I stayed at Riverside for one week in October 2009. We were not sure what to expect after reading some reviews. We stayed in King Suite where the view was fantastic. The terrace was very relaxing and in the evenings it was nice to have a drink there in a peaceful tranquillity. We had a lovely time in beautiful surroundings. The breakfast was great, cooked and presented beautifully. It was so nice to sit out on the terrace to have our breakfast with views of mountains on one side and sea in distance. The pools and the village are kept very clean. We had lunch by the poolside. Both of us being vegetarians, we were looked after quite well and nothing was too much for the friendly staff. It was excellent value for money. Free of charge WiFi was welcome change from other resorts. Riverside is a family owned holiday village and run with great pride.

Excellent pool facilities for the kids (and adults alike)
Very friendly staff
Great free of charge WiFi
Riverside is a family owned holiday village and run with great pride. Their staff are excellent and they themselves are always on hand to take care of your every need.
Ignore any critical comments, some people just enjoying finding faults.

'Check in, dump bags in the room, meet friends'is usually the routine we follow when we arrive at this lovely friendly complex. We have enjoyed at least a dozen, relaxing, sun drenched holidays in the last 4 years. Picking apricots in May and pomegranates(?) in October. The food is lovely, the family who run the village, eat regularly in the restaurant! Any problems are sorted quickly and everyone is very obliging.

Friendly, friendly, friendly and so relaxing. We had a great holiday where we could sit quietly on any one of our four balconies, in or out of the sun, or relax around the huge pool area. The children seem to be well catered for with their own dedicated adventurous pool which left the big pool fot the adults. The food was great. Although we booked half board and intended to dine out from time to time in nearby restaurants, we found it difficult to turn our backs on the Riverside restaurant. The quiet location is great too, not too far from the main road and the sea. The Riverside bus makes a daily journey into Kyrenia which is a real bonus. We will be back again in 2008 and looking forward to it!

Riverside is a family run complex with a relaxed informal atmosphere which should suit all but the most nitpicking.
Food is excellent, the 2 pools are good and the villas are fine.
Everything you need is round and about including other restaurants within walking distance. Not that near the beach but there is a daily bus.
Ideal for all except for may be the young lovers who might want a bit more life.
Been going now for 6 years and wouldn't go anywhere else.

Had a thoroughly good time at The Riverside October Half Term. The 3 children played in the fun pool all day long whilst the wife and I relaxed in the sun and fantastic tropical surroundings. There is a drinks/snack bar right next to the pool which was great. Ali and his team are very friendly and organised. Car hire from here was a bargain and convenient. Not too busy, but enough people to have a good atmosphere.
Would highly recommend for a family holiday.

My family and I have been to Riverside many times and feel like part of the family now. It is a very well run family business
Rooms are clean and well furnished and the gardens look beautiful with a mixture of flowers, shrubs and fruit trees.
Theme nights are great fun for all the family. The Cyprus night and the weekly bar-b-que are good value for money.
There are 2 outdoor pools. One with flumes which keep the kids entertained for hours. The poolside bar offers a good selection of drinks and snacks. There is also a small on site shop offering the basics should you wish to self cater without leaving the complex.
Car hire is recommended as the beach isn't within walking distance. The hotel offers a courtesy bus twice a day to the beach and car hire is available at the reception.
A fabulous base for exploring the island.
Riverside is a complex we will continue to visit on a regular basis. We have made many good friends here.

This resort came recommended to us by friends who had enjoyed staying at Riverside which has 4 star rating. I think this is only because of the pool facilities which are great for children. The accommodation was well below par for 4 stars as was the food in our opinion.
Couldn't fault the restaurant and pool bar staff for their friendliness and service although I truely wondered how the restaurant manager had been in his job for as long as he said. The barbecue night was disasterous (not enough food) because a crowd of late arrivals invading pre booked tables. Our table was gone as was our food and when we complained, I felt he was not really interested and very defensive.
I also don't enjoy eating flies with my food so always tried to take meat, cheese, fruit from under the plastic wrap.
Villa staff were very sweet but the cleaning was not up to standard either. Outside patios/balconies and furniture were not cleaned before or during our stay with some chairs covered in bird poop!
Pool area was overcrowded by inadequately supervised children (not the hotels fault but a parental responsibility)and my 4yr old was kicked if she did not go down the water slide fast enough whilst other children stopped half way down the slide, causing pile ups. It was diabolical!
What is more, our hire car (organized through the hotel) was hired out before we returned the keys at the agreed time. My husband went to check that the car was empty of our belongings and the car was already gone from where we had parked it .... already been used, it emerged, by somebody else. We thought it had been stolen!
We would love to return to Northern Cyprus as it is beautiful and the local people freidly and welcoming. Riverside? Sorry, but no.

We have returned here year after year and always feel very welcomed. Riverside is great for relaxing, dining and drinking. Staff are always very friendly and helpful if a problem occurs. Local roads are more pothole than anything else but the challenge of driving around adds to the charm, roads are gradually being improved. There are so many places of interest to visit nearby by car plus various coach trips for further afield trips. Any taste in food is also catered for locally away from Riverside, if wanted, so the fish and chip lovers can even find those. Food at Riverside is either set menu or a la carte, with a choice of fantastic salads, soup, fresh fish, giant chops, kebabs, and dozens of puddings, washed down with Efes beer or some very patable Turkish wines. For swimmers there are 2 outside pools, 1 of which is a fun pool with slide and a helterskelter, in the winter months an inside pool. For the football addict there is a sky tv in the Ranch Bar and most bars locally also have football on sky. Tvs in the rooms are Turkish but BRT2 shows English films from 6pm. English papers come to the local supermarkets around mid afternoon, for those like me who like to do the crosswords. We always book self-catering and have only 1 moan about this resort, the lack of cooking utensils, but we always manage. Toast, cereals and a fry up or local yoghurt with honey for breakfast, lunch from the pool bar , and evening meal at Riverside or at one of the many restaurants nearby or within a short car drive or taxi. Kyrenia which is about 8 miles away is fabulous at night. Various themed nights are held at Riverside and are worth going to. Go and see the belly dancer whilst working your way through a meze or try and sing along with a Turkish singer and dance the night away. Yes some of the roads are awful, it can be very hot in the summer, the flight there can be very long,( we get there via Larnaca in the South Cyprus, with a taxi sent by Riverside to meet us at the airport journey time is cut by 3 hours)but once at Riverside just unwind and relax. Visit the local beaches or Kyrenia(Riverside provide free buses)and then go site seeing. Saint Hilarian castle is a must.. Now the practical. At Riverside they have their own car hire with a supply of petrol and a mechanic if needed, a laundry, tennis courts, jeep safari, horse riding, gym and massage. Each year we come back home and start planning next years visit. That should tell you something, people return time after time to Riverside.
