A Fantastic Holiday

from Anon4
On arrival at the hotel we were very impressed with the reception area it's very clean and contemporary in style. When we got to our room (room 6) our opinion changed it was very small, with no fridge and no pool view as we had paid for. it was also located above a night club so we didn't get a wink of sleep all night. The following day we complained at reception and they eventually moved us to a superior room with a fantastic pool view and the all important fridge as the weather was so hot it was a must have (charged at £26 for the 2 weeks). I would advise anyone to upgrade their room to a superior or junior suite and make sure it has a pool view or you may have a view of the main road or the monestry.

The food at the hotel was beautiful it had a good variety and was always well stocked up. We ate at the hotel about three times out of the 14 nights and we were always impressed, especially as it only cost £8.00 pp for three courses.

All of the staff at the hotel were very friendly and remembered you each day which made you feel special.

We hired a car for two days and we were so so happy that we did. We drove up the Troodos Mountains which are stunning and then over to phapos which is lovely.

Nissi Bay is a must it has crystal clear water and white sandy beach, it does get quite busy but it is easy to see why.

Avoid Caravels restaurant (flambe restaurant) opposite the hotel as my partner was extremly ill for a few days after eating there.

Los Bambos is the best Mexican restaurant ever. It is always very busy and best to either go early or book a table. It is located just off the main square up the street from the Titanic bar. Everybody we spoke to said it was their favourite restaurant.

There is no need to take your own towels to the hotel as you can get a card from the reception and then exchange the towels as often as you want. It gives you more space in your suit case to take all of that cheap alcohol home.

I would definately recommend this hotel to anybody but would always point out the above tips.

Great place to stay!

We have just returned from a great 2 week holiday in Ayia Napa (myself and my boyfriend). The Napa plaza was a wonderful place to stay, it was spotlessly clean, the staff were all very friendly and approachable. We stayed bed and breakfast, the choice was great from yogurt, fruit, cheeses, cakes to a full english breakfast, it is buffet style so you just get up and help yourself. Breakfast is served between 7 and 10. During breakfast there is a flyer on each table advertising wat type of theme nite is on in the hotel. We went out most nites and didnt stay for any evening meals or entertainment.

There is a fridge in the hotel room which costs 2 cypriot pounds per nite. The pool area is very nice and gets busy, everyone puts towels on the loungers on a morning so when we went down for breakfast we used to choose a couple of loungers. I went in the indoor pool 2 which is quite cold but lovely to cool off in after sunbathing.

The mexican restaurant which is next door and part of the Napa Plaza is lovely we went a few times, don't 4get to mention that you're stayin at the Napa Plaza nd you get 15% discount. Clarabels across the road from the Napa plaza is also a lovely place to eat, it does get very busy and is a popular place to eat, however we didnt wait long for starters or main course.

Castellis restaurant is very nice too, the pasta was delicious.

The Golden Arrow is a pub which is a great place to watch the football matches, tennis etc. We watched the England, Portugal match in there nd there was a great atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and the service is great.

The beach just about 10 mins down the road was great, lovely and peaceful. We went on the glass bottom boat which only cost 1 cypriot pound, it was good, however dont expect to see much through the glass there are only a few windows. the boat stops in the middle of the sea nd you can go snorkelling, free equipment provided. The yellow submarine is a must, it cost 5 pounds for an hour and a half, it was a lot of fun and the crew are very friendly and a good laugh. A diving show is provided and there is a chance to snorkel and visit the caves.

The nite life in the square is great, visit Bedrock (Flinstones bar) which is a karoake bar and a lot of fun. You get free shots and buy one get one free coaktail tickets from the reps standing outside all of the bars as well as free tickets for clubs.

Ayia napa is for all ages, not just the young, it caters for all and is a great place. Feel free to email me if you want to ask anything.

A little disappointed

30th June 2006
My husband and I (29 & 26) have just returned from a fab 2 week holiday in ayia napa. We booked the Napa Plaza hotel after reading the amazing reviews so went with high expectations. We were a little disappointed with a couple of things but it didn't spoil our holiday and overall we were impressed by the contemporary style of the hotel and the fact it was spotlessly clean.

Firstly there are not enough sunbeds around the pool for all the guests and we were more than a little annoyed that by 8am most of the beds had been reserved with towels. The hotel says they will not allow this but didn't take any action against it. Also the air-conditioning in our room was more like a warm air fan, so the room was permanently warm and not comfortable.
Apart from this we enjoyed our stay. As i've said it was spotlessly clean and well presented. The breakfasts are lovely, lots of choice but we didn't use the hotel for any other meals so I can't comment on those.

We got married in Paphos, Cyprus last year and drove across to ayia napa for one night with some friends so we knew it wasn't as bad as the tv makes out. The main square where the clubs are is a 5min walk from the hotel up the hill, so you can avoid it if preferred and you are not disturbed by any noise through the night. There are plenty of restaurants on the doorstep of the napa plaza. We LOVED El Chihauhaua the hotel's mexican restaurant, food was superb also the italian near the main square. Avoid Clarabel's and Castellini's like the plague. At Castellini's we waited an hour for our starters and a further 30 mins for the main course which was not at all worth waiting for. My lasagne tasted like shepard's pie urghhhh!!

As we couldn't get round the pool we hired a moped (1wk) suzuki jeep (1wk). Nissi beach is close by and very nice but it gets quite busy/noisy. Not my idea of relaxation! About a 5min drive from nissi beach is agia thekla. It's gorgeous! White sand, clear blue water and very few people about. Bliss!! We also went a bit further up the road to Liopetriou which is pretty much the same but is quieter and has a nearby restaurant serving fresh fish caught that day by local fisherman. Delicious!!

I wouldn't stay in this hotel again because of the poor air-con and the sun-bed hoggers but it is a clean place with friendly staff in an excellent location. As for ayia napa I would definately go back beacause it has beautiful beaches, is cheap to eat/drink and is lots and lots of fun!!!

Fantastic Oasis in Ayia Napa

from A TripAdvisor Member
We visited the Napa Plaza the first two weeks in June, and the hotel lived up to every expectation we read on tripadvisor.

This was our first trip to Ayia Napa, and before we booked, we were slightly sceptical as the town has its reputation! But we were wrong, and the hotel couldn’t have been in a better position.

At first we were looking at staying at Adams Beech Hotel, which we walked to along the beech front. But the Adams is a good 40 min walk from the centre of Ayia Napa.

The Napa Plaza, however, is situated off the main road, and we were surprised just how quite the hotel was. A couple of minutes to the left up the hill from the hotel starts you off on a road full or bars/clubs, and a 5 min walk right takes you to the beach. Either way, there are plenty of places to eat and shop.

We stayed on a Half Board basis and had a pool side room, which I would strongly recommend getting. In fact, if you get asked where you want to be within the hotel, get the second floor on the Monastery wing side. You get far more sun on your balcony than the other wing!

The hotel staff just bent over backwards to help you, they were very friendly. Being only a small hotel, I think around 200 guests, they get to know you quick and work very very hard. Overall, the hotel was finished to a high standard; I’m surprised it’s only a 3 star!

The food was spot on! The Pool Bar within the Hotel serves good lunch time meals, although a little pricey. The evening buffets were different each day of the week, and their version of a Sunday roast (which was on a Wednesday!) was excellent… We ended up eating out only four times during the two weeks.

I would strongly recommend eating over the road at the flambé restaurant, Clarables. And there’s also a pub on the left called The Golden Arrow that serves decent pub food. On the door step there’s also the usual Pizza Hut, Burger King and KFC!

The Hotel owns the Mexican restaurant outside the hotel, which we didn’t go to, but it came highly recommended by our rep. There’s also Peppers bar at the front of the hotel, which is trendy and there’s a huge wall which they projected the World Cup games on and other channels.

Overall, a thoroughly great hotel, and we would highly recommend it anyone. We would go back there again.

Go - you will love it - we did!!

We have just returned from a fantastic week at the Napa Plaza and will definately be going back. This hotel has recently been refurbished and has a lovely airy and clean feel about it.
Hotel is situated 5 mins walk from 'The square' so my two twentysomething children rolled home at around 4am after dancing their socks off. (no noise in hotel)
Not a lot of young famalies at this hotel - I think it suits older kids better.
I am quite fussy and houseproud but was not disappointed by anything in this hotel
The pool area was spotless and we always got good positioned sunbeds.
Food was really good and always fresh and well presented.
The reception staff were the friendliest and most helpful we have ever had on holiday.
Bar staff friendly and happy and a must is a massage in the spa.
It was my daughters 22nd birthday on the tuesday and she was delighted to have strawberries and champagne delivered to her room by hotel PR.
You will not be dissapointed if you stay at Napa Plaza -go and enjoy.

Nice

from A TripAdvisor Member
We had a good time at the napa plaza. The location was good, however it was quite noisy. The hotel itself was noisy as well. Overall though we had a good time. Liked the pool very much and the cafe outside was nice. The rooms were also nice. Might return again, but I think next time I will prefer something with a bit less excitement! For teenagers though or people who really want to party I reccommend it.

Napa Plaza.....Rocks!

from A TripAdvisor Member
We went on our visit at the end of May start of June 2006, this was my first trip to Cyprus and I thought it was a great place.

The Napa Plaza is a wonderful hotel, definately above the 3 star rating it has. We especially liked Pepper bar at the front for our first drink of the evening, great for people watching. We went B and B and the buffet breakfast is excellent....just can't be faulted! Most cocktails at the pool bar are 2.50 Cy£, and brandy sours are CY£1.80...and those guys put in BIG measures!

The location is ideal, just 2 minutes stroll to the Square, but so quiet. Yes a few people come back at 3 or 4 and make a bit of noise, but nothing excesive, infact the staff were very good at trying to keep people quiet and stopp them jumping in the pool at 5 in the morning.

There are a good number of sunbeds, but although it says that you can't save beds, about half of them had towels on by 8.30. This didn't bother us at all since we went to the beach everyday, and got back about 4 or 5 for drinks and a dip.

BEACHES:
The Town Beach....about 5 to 10 minutes down the road, past the harbour and you have the Town Beach....nothing fancy, clean and loads of faclities...but a little soulless.

Nissi Beach.... A wonderful beach, nice size, but very busy and noisy from loud beach bars...fun to watch the bungy jumpers on the headland.

Makronisos Beach...Small and furthest from town...family beach..all the faclities.

Golden Beach (Landa)... between Nissi and Makronisos...our fav. Small beautiful bay, go and eat at the New Golden Beach Bar....MASSIVE portions and very friendly guys running the place. Although the best beer (Leon) is had from the first bar you come to (first right as you go down beach). It will cost 4 or 5 CY£ to get a taxi out here.

We got to the last 3 beaches by bike. Push bike that is...we rented from Costas just down from the hotel, but there are loads along the road to Nissi. New mountain bikes were CY£3 a day, so we got them for three days for CY£8, about £10...great value. There is a cycle path along the Nissi road and it is safe enough, although often blocked in the morning by delivery vans etc!! Nissi is about 15 mins away and Golden beach 20.

We loved Memorys bar, because there were no gimics and free shots, just a straight up atmosphere and nice staff. You can drink CHEAP in Ayia Napa touts offer free shots left right and centre, try and go for ones that offer proper shots of known brands otherwise you get the 'orange liquid'! Best kareoke bar was the Seahorse down the road to the harbour.

Nicest food was at the Ambli greek tavern...amazing meze and the best chips ever! And Sage, down from the Liquid bar. Pricey, but totally wonderful nosh!

If you like beer (like us) then don't always go for the KEO, if you can find it try Leon..esp. daught, it knocks the socks of anything else on Cyprus.

We went on a cruise on our next to last day, and you will get offered loads day or night. Some are cheaper, some more expensive, some longer and some shorter. We went with a longer more expensive one CY£10, Cpt Marko...you go round the coast to see Famagusta, have stops for swimming (great!!), plus food cooked on board (delicious)!! We saw some of the cheaper boats passing, and they looked packed. We went early in the season, so it might get busier, but our trip was brillliant!!!

Before I went to Ayia Napa I had in my mind the picture of a town where every night was a bad Saturday night in the roughest place in the UK. But I was wrong, next time we go we'll be taking the kids, I would recommend Ayia Napa to anyone.

t impressed

from A TripAdvisor Member
We have just returned from this hotel and we were not impressed. rooms very basic compared to other places in europe. we booked the room for a further six hours as we had a late flight. wot a disaster. they locked us out of the room at 12noon then at 5.30pm other guests were given the key for the room unaware we were still there. we were at reception three times about this and theyu were not helpful at all.
Our room was facing the fountain (side of hotel) we were woken most mornings at 06.30am with the chiurch bells then with the service as there were loud speakers.
we will not return to this hotel again.

Excellent Hotel

from Jonty007
What a brilliant Hotel. There were six adults and two young children in our party and we stayed half board. The rooms and general areas are all decorated to a high standard and fitted out with a classy contemporary style. The hotel is spottlessly clean and the staff go out of their way to help, especially with children.

The location of the hotel could not be better - right in the center of Ayia Napa, but it is still peacefully quiet at night. The food is excellent and plentyful and is often served outside in the evenings beside the pool. There is also a sheltered childrens play area which is great for giving the kids a break from the sun.

One thing to remember when travelling to this hotel is that they provide you with beach towels which saves you a fair bit of weight in the old suitcase. you get 1 card per person at reception and then exchange this for your towel at the spa reception - you can then change the towel as often as you need throughout the holiday.

Combined our party has had 18 trips to Cyprus between us - 14 of these to Ayia Napa and we are all agreed that this has been the best hotel any of us has stayed in on the island.
