A Lovely Hotel
from londonholidayluvaThe pool area is very nice, spacious and there seemed to be enough sunbeds but I can imagine there being a lack of beds in peak season.
The female staff around the hotel were awfully rude but the males tended to be very friendly and welcoming - maybe this is because I am a woman myself.
The rooms were nice, again very modern. Very comfortable beds and pillows.
The decor in general I thought was lovely but older members of my party felt the decor lacked a 'homely' feel.
It is a good 20 minute walk from the centre of Aiya Napa. There are some restaurants along the way but better ones are in town.
I would highly recommend the Meze in the Limelight Taverna. This was the best meal I had all week by far. Service and food was spot on.
I work in the hotel industry myself and I must say I found it extremely annoying that you were charged for:
Use of safe
Use of the tea/coffee making facilties
Use of the jacuzzi
Use of the fridge
I wouldn't have expected to pay for any of these services but hey ho.
A great holiday all in all.
Fine - but not 4-star
from das1360Whilst first impressions of the hotel public areas are of 4-star quality, unfortunately the rooms are not. We booked a standard sea-view room which was smaller than we have experienced in 4-star hotels and the en-suite was tiny, as was the balcony. The NAPA MEMAID's own website is misleading. Yes there is a kettle in the room but tea, coffee, milk etc is charged extra. Yes, there is a safety deposit box in the room but use of this is an extra charge. Yes, there is a mini-fridge in the room but there is also an extra charge for its use. There was no internet connection and no hairdryer in the room (as was advertised) when we stayed there. I'm also not sure how a camp bed could easliy be put in a room of this size for a third person, again as is advertised on the NAPA MERMAID website.
We stayed on a B&B basis and the breakfast, whilst adequate was below what we have experienced in other 4-star hotels. The pool area was nice but it was very difficult to get a sunbed due to the usual early-morning towel syndrome.
On the plus side, the bar was very nice in the evenings (seemed to be closed during the day) and prices were reasonable in comparision to other hotels in the area. There was also a good standard of entertainment every night and the hotel Staff were always all very pleasant. In my opinion, the NAPA MERMAID is a 3-star hotel, trying to be a 4-star but being heldback by the size of its rooms and all the 'extra' charges which I would have expected to be inclusive in a 4-star hotel. Unfortunately, it would not be at the top of my list of 4-star accommodation if returning to AYIA NAPA.
Napa Mermaid truly first class
from Jud11One of the best!
from JulesHiltonExcellent in every way....appart from.....
from Youngy74We stayed for 9 nights and upgraded to a junior suite...well worth it if you want to treat yourself....there is about twice as much space than a normal room (both inside and out), and they threw in half board for free (cyp47 per night was our deal).
The food is excellent at all times of the day!
HOWEVER - they let themselves down on 1 or 2 key things.....
You only get 1 key per room, and no matter how much I pleaded, begged and argued for another, they wouldn't budge. This was very inconvenient......
The hotel staff are amazing...APPART from the reception staff who were always rude, ignorant, unhelpful and generally very dismissive of everyone - stay clear !
I would 100% recommend this place on 2 conditions, only speak to reception to check in and out, and make a spare copy of your room key yourself - if you can do this, I guarentee you'll have a good time.
Fantastic clean, classy modern chic hotel!
from spanner20Wonderful, modern and chic
from Bea80We stayed in a standard room that had a view straight out across the sea which was lovely to wake up to each day. The room was very modern in its décor and furniture, and had a flat screen TV. The only thing I would say is that the bathroom was a tad on the small size and was a bit of a squeeze for 2, also the shower is not very high up so if your tall you may have to bend down a bit. It was however more than adequate and clean towels were left each day.
Breakfast was a buffet with plenty of choice and something for everyone. The pool bar was very convenient if you wanted refreshment throughout the day, which also included a very well stocked selection of ice creams! In the evening, the terrace bar opened at 6pm, and there was usually some sort of entertainment from 9pm onwards. The bar staff were very attentive, and would frequently check if you needed anything. The terrace has plenty of comfortable sofas and chairs, and was a nice place to relax in the evening before going to dinner.
The sunbeds were comfortable and most of them had some sort of shade throughout the day. They had adjustable head screens if you wanted to keep the sun out of your eyes. As always though, you had to be off the mark quick to get a decent spot! There were 2 pools - one for small children and a main for adults, both of which were clean. The only thing I would say is that once it got a bit wet around the edge of the pools, it became rather slippery even if you were wearing sandals/flip-flops.
The hotel was just across the road from the beach, which has blue flag status, and in my opinion is much nicer and cleaner than Nissi beach, which is on the other the other side of Aiya Napa harbour. There are water sports for the more active holidaymaker and plenty of sunbeds for hire. The sea was mostly calm while I was there and it was very warm. There is a very good taverna that overlooks the beach called the Mistralli. It serves good, reasonably priced food all day, with fantastic views of the beach from the terrace.
The hotel is a short walk from the town centre and the harbour. The main road into Ayia Napa is full of taverna’s and shops. Just before you get into the main square, there is an excellent restaurant called Sage and next to it, its sister bar, Liquid. Sage is a much more modern restaurant than most of what is on offer. I would highly recommend eating there, as the food was superb. Another good place to try is Los Banditios, a rustic Mexican at the top of the square. Be prepared for big portions though. Both places were very good value for money and I wouldn’t hesitate to eat at either again. If it’s just a drink you want then try Pepper, it’s the most chic cocktail bar around, and serve the best mojito’s I’ve ever tasted!
The Napa Mermaid was a really wonderful place to stay and helped to compliment a fantastic holiday.
Wonderful !
from S31BirminghamThe hotel was a throughly enjoyable experience. It is recently refurbished to a very high modern standard, the reception area is very impressive when you arrive.
The rooms were of a good standard, beautifully clean and modern.
We stayed on an All inclusive basis and the standard of all the food and drink was excellent. There is a huge amount of choice at breakfst lunch and dinner. Everything is beautifully laid out and served to you. Very much like being in an excellent restaurant. In fact we did eat out on some occasions, which was great for a change of scene, but we had to admit that anything we ate out was no way near the standard of the Mermaid.
The staff working at the hotel were always very friendly and helpful and made the whole stay extremely pleasent.
I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone.
The beach was nearby and easy to get to. There are plenty of bars shops etc nearby to pick up anything you might need.
The centre of Ayia Napa is about a 10 min walk away and despite what people may think about Ayia Napa is actually very nice. It does have its main area with clubs and bars if you want them, but it is also very easy to avoid them and not even know they are there. Plenty of shopping also to be done around this area also.
The Napa Mermaid was a wonderful holiday and I find it quite difficult to think of anything negative to say about it!
WOW - Made my Holiday!

2. Bedroom 1 - two twin beds/flat screen TV/Bathroom with shower and sink - very modern and comfortable.

The grand suite was 5 star status, excellent offer as the room had just been built.
6. Pool lovely with plenty of sunbeds
7. Bar/restaurant areas very very chic this is not a 3 star hotel more 4-5 star.
8. Entertainment - rather lacking not much for children to do but great to sit outside with a cocktail and watch the world go by.
I have travelled quite abit and I have to say the management at this hotel have really made this a very welcoming Hotel, all staff very friendly and went out of their way to assist.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions.
Top Local Tips for Ayia Napa
Take a trip to the mountains If the heat is getting to you, hire a car and go in search of the Kaledonia Falls in the Toodos mountains. Its a 2.5km hike uphill following the path of the river bed but you once you get there it is well worth the effort, and you can also cool off under the waterfall!
Haggle Dont just go into the 1st bar you see when you get there have a walk round the square and talk to some of the promoters they'll try and drag you in their club but just have a chat to them find out the deals they're offerin then tell them that you'll be back later they'll try and drag you in but move on and i assure u that if you walk past again they'll offer you a better deal second time around. At the end of the day your on holiday so get a little bit cheeky with them, push for free drinks or tickets to clubs most will offer them anyway, but just dont be taken for a mug, make sure you get the best deal. They like you more and you'll get more out of them if you haggle a little with them, its fun for you and them.
Water World Its a must, Go its brilliant. Check their website out first if you must be its a definate day out. Don't go via the holiday rep though as you have to make your own way there at 10 euros via taxi each way can be expensive. However local tours do it for the same price with free transfers.
