We have stayed twice at this hotel together with others,it's our belief that you would struggle to find a 3 star hotel to match this one, everybody you could come into contact with are absolutely fantastic! really efficient staff, nothing is too much trouble for them,Beautiful Food,Service, the housekeeping staff are exceptional,Reception is First Class ! without any doubt this is the cleanest hotel we've stayed-in A real tribute to all it's members of staff !BRILLIANT ! 10 out of 10 .
I love coming

Historical Traveller Reviews of Napa Mermaid Hotel

A Lovely Hotel

from londonholidayluva
The Mermaid is a lovely hotel. The reception and decor is very modern and chic and gives it a good 4* appeal.

The pool area is very nice, spacious and there seemed to be enough sunbeds but I can imagine there being a lack of beds in peak season.

The female staff around the hotel were awfully rude but the males tended to be very friendly and welcoming - maybe this is because I am a woman myself.

The rooms were nice, again very modern. Very comfortable beds and pillows.

The decor in general I thought was lovely but older members of my party felt the decor lacked a 'homely' feel.

It is a good 20 minute walk from the centre of Aiya Napa. There are some restaurants along the way but better ones are in town.

I would highly recommend the Meze in the Limelight Taverna. This was the best meal I had all week by far. Service and food was spot on.

I work in the hotel industry myself and I must say I found it extremely annoying that you were charged for:

Use of safe
Use of the tea/coffee making facilties
Use of the jacuzzi
Use of the fridge

I wouldn't have expected to pay for any of these services but hey ho.

A great holiday all in all.

Fine - but not 4-star

from das1360
Booked a 4-star hotel in AYIA NAPA through Alpharooms two months before travelling. However, the weekend before departure, due to overbooking, was offered the NAPA MERMAID as an alternative 4-star hotel. Prior to the week before we travelled, the NAPA MERMAID was advertised on Alpharooms (and other travel sites) as a 3-star but Alpharooms coincidentally changed it to a 4-star during the week before we travelled.
Whilst first impressions of the hotel public areas are of 4-star quality, unfortunately the rooms are not. We booked a standard sea-view room which was smaller than we have experienced in 4-star hotels and the en-suite was tiny, as was the balcony. The NAPA MEMAID's own website is misleading. Yes there is a kettle in the room but tea, coffee, milk etc is charged extra. Yes, there is a safety deposit box in the room but use of this is an extra charge. Yes, there is a mini-fridge in the room but there is also an extra charge for its use. There was no internet connection and no hairdryer in the room (as was advertised) when we stayed there. I'm also not sure how a camp bed could easliy be put in a room of this size for a third person, again as is advertised on the NAPA MERMAID website.
We stayed on a B&B basis and the breakfast, whilst adequate was below what we have experienced in other 4-star hotels. The pool area was nice but it was very difficult to get a sunbed due to the usual early-morning towel syndrome.
On the plus side, the bar was very nice in the evenings (seemed to be closed during the day) and prices were reasonable in comparision to other hotels in the area. There was also a good standard of entertainment every night and the hotel Staff were always all very pleasant. In my opinion, the NAPA MERMAID is a 3-star hotel, trying to be a 4-star but being heldback by the size of its rooms and all the 'extra' charges which I would have expected to be inclusive in a 4-star hotel. Unfortunately, it would not be at the top of my list of 4-star accommodation if returning to AYIA NAPA.

Napa Mermaid truly first class

One of the best!

from JulesHilton
Having just returned from a weeks stay at the napa mermaid in ayia napa I must start by saying.. a week just was not long enough! I travelled along with my best friend to stay at the mermaid after reading reviews on here and we was not let down by this, the hotel itself is fantasic, very clean and well maintained, all of the staff were very welcoming and made our stay there with them very pleasant indeed. The hotel is situated quite away from the main bar/restaurants but this is very good as it is nice and quiet, is is also a fair walk to the bar/club area so possibly a taxi would be advisable for this. There was entertainment on at the hotel every night which kept most people entertained and the food there was also very good (different themes most nights, but a good selection of whatever was on offer) The hotel has undergone refurbishment and looks absolutley stunning, tho there was maintenance people undergoing repairs on our last day but this didnt really disturb anyone. Overall I would definately recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a quiet relaxing modern hotel in ayia napa the beach is literally just over the road and bars/restaurants a few minutes walk away. I myself am definately considering going back next year but will be looking at booking directly with the Hotel rather than through an egent! good stay all round!!!

Excellent in every way....appart from.....

from Youngy74
Read all the other reviews and they will tell you how clean and modern this hotel is, and they are all correct. Its a great place to stay, close to the beach, 15 min walk to the town center, and is extremely comfortable.
We stayed for 9 nights and upgraded to a junior suite...well worth it if you want to treat yourself....there is about twice as much space than a normal room (both inside and out), and they threw in half board for free (cyp47 per night was our deal).
The food is excellent at all times of the day!
HOWEVER - they let themselves down on 1 or 2 key things.....
You only get 1 key per room, and no matter how much I pleaded, begged and argued for another, they wouldn't budge. This was very inconvenient......
The hotel staff are amazing...APPART from the reception staff who were always rude, ignorant, unhelpful and generally very dismissive of everyone - stay clear !
I would 100% recommend this place on 2 conditions, only speak to reception to check in and out, and make a spare copy of your room key yourself - if you can do this, I guarentee you'll have a good time.

Fantastic clean, classy modern chic hotel!

from spanner20
If your looking for a clean and modern hotel with freindly and helpful staff this is the hotel for you. The hotel recently went under a huge modernisation meaning that has been brough completely up to date with a very modern design. We stayed half broad and the food is fantastic aswell, there is something for everyone and if you dont fancy ur dinner you can just order from the lunch menu up too £6 which is more than enough to provide yourselves with a good meal. The hotel is situated on a slight hill but taxi's drive by frequently if required. Its about a 2 minute walk over the road to the beach which is clean and family friendly. I travelled in a large group of varying age (21-58 and a toddler) and everyone enjoyed it. For the young at heart it takes about 10-15 minutes to walk to the main square where all the clubs are but there are plenty of small quieter pubs along the way. One tip if you are intending to go to the clubs haggle wth the PRs cause the first night we did get ripped off with the drinks they say its buy 1 get 1 free but the price is actually double so have a banter and agree how much your drinks will cost before you go into any club. This is part of the fun anyway so just enjoy it! Castle is the best club and if you drink in the hollywood bar first ask for free tickets and Mike will walk you in VIP style.

Wonderful, modern and chic

from Bea80
I have just returned from a weeks stay at the Napa Mermaid, and it was absolutely fantastic. I read several reviews about it on here and was slightly apprehensive that the refurbishment may not have been completed but I need not have feared as everything was finished to a very high standard. It was beautiful, modern and airy. The staff were excellent and the place was always spotless.

We stayed in a standard room that had a view straight out across the sea which was lovely to wake up to each day. The room was very modern in its décor and furniture, and had a flat screen TV. The only thing I would say is that the bathroom was a tad on the small size and was a bit of a squeeze for 2, also the shower is not very high up so if your tall you may have to bend down a bit. It was however more than adequate and clean towels were left each day.

Breakfast was a buffet with plenty of choice and something for everyone. The pool bar was very convenient if you wanted refreshment throughout the day, which also included a very well stocked selection of ice creams! In the evening, the terrace bar opened at 6pm, and there was usually some sort of entertainment from 9pm onwards. The bar staff were very attentive, and would frequently check if you needed anything. The terrace has plenty of comfortable sofas and chairs, and was a nice place to relax in the evening before going to dinner.

The sunbeds were comfortable and most of them had some sort of shade throughout the day. They had adjustable head screens if you wanted to keep the sun out of your eyes. As always though, you had to be off the mark quick to get a decent spot! There were 2 pools - one for small children and a main for adults, both of which were clean. The only thing I would say is that once it got a bit wet around the edge of the pools, it became rather slippery even if you were wearing sandals/flip-flops.

The hotel was just across the road from the beach, which has blue flag status, and in my opinion is much nicer and cleaner than Nissi beach, which is on the other the other side of Aiya Napa harbour. There are water sports for the more active holidaymaker and plenty of sunbeds for hire. The sea was mostly calm while I was there and it was very warm. There is a very good taverna that overlooks the beach called the Mistralli. It serves good, reasonably priced food all day, with fantastic views of the beach from the terrace.

The hotel is a short walk from the town centre and the harbour. The main road into Ayia Napa is full of taverna’s and shops. Just before you get into the main square, there is an excellent restaurant called Sage and next to it, its sister bar, Liquid. Sage is a much more modern restaurant than most of what is on offer. I would highly recommend eating there, as the food was superb. Another good place to try is Los Banditios, a rustic Mexican at the top of the square. Be prepared for big portions though. Both places were very good value for money and I wouldn’t hesitate to eat at either again. If it’s just a drink you want then try Pepper, it’s the most chic cocktail bar around, and serve the best mojito’s I’ve ever tasted!

The Napa Mermaid was a really wonderful place to stay and helped to compliment a fantastic holiday.

Wonderful !

Just back from a two week stay at the Napa Mermaid.

The hotel was a throughly enjoyable experience. It is recently refurbished to a very high modern standard, the reception area is very impressive when you arrive.
The rooms were of a good standard, beautifully clean and modern.

We stayed on an All inclusive basis and the standard of all the food and drink was excellent. There is a huge amount of choice at breakfst lunch and dinner. Everything is beautifully laid out and served to you. Very much like being in an excellent restaurant. In fact we did eat out on some occasions, which was great for a change of scene, but we had to admit that anything we ate out was no way near the standard of the Mermaid.

The staff working at the hotel were always very friendly and helpful and made the whole stay extremely pleasent.

I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone.

The beach was nearby and easy to get to. There are plenty of bars shops etc nearby to pick up anything you might need.

The centre of Ayia Napa is about a 10 min walk away and despite what people may think about Ayia Napa is actually very nice. It does have its main area with clubs and bars if you want them, but it is also very easy to avoid them and not even know they are there. Plenty of shopping also to be done around this area also.

The Napa Mermaid was a wonderful holiday and I find it quite difficult to think of anything negative to say about it!

WOW - Made my Holiday!

from Dpp69
Wow, we have just returned from a 2 week stay at the Napa Mermaid. Not normally one to write reviews, but this hotel was such a pleasant & unexpected surpise I felt compelled to. The hotel has undergone an extensive re-furbishment and what a job they have done - it is very chic and tastefully furnished throughout, it fully deserves its 4* rating. We had a standard room which was contemporarily furnished, the only very slight comment I'd make would be about the size of the bathroom, bit of a squeeze for 2 in there but it was spotless, modern and adequate. In fact the whole hotel is spotless, and has a very modern feel throughout. we stayed on a B&B basis, food was great, plenty of choice. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Have to mention the sun beds, plenty of them, v. comfy and they have their own adjustable head screens so you can happily sun your body whilst shading just your head if you need to. There's entertainment every night - it's not the Palladium but some of the acts were highly entertaining (albeit perhaps not for the right reasons) but if you have a sense of humour there's worse ways to start your evening off whilst enjoying a cocktail. Beach is a 2 min walk away but we mainly stayed by the pool. I's around a 15-20 min stroll into the centre of Aiya Napa, with plenty of bars/shops and restaurants on the way. Also, recommend the Square Pub, just on the edge of the Sqaure, this is a live acoustic venue where various duos play. This was our favourite pub and spent many a night there and thoroughly enjoyed it (at 38 & 40 we've done the clubbing holidays). On the whole a fantastic holiday!

Napa Mermaid WOW !!

from STTT
We stayed at the Napa Mermaid the first week of the school holidays and what a wonderful experience.

The Napa Mermaid has just undergone renovation and it looks wonderful very Chic to say the least.

Rooms: We stayed in a Grand Suite which consisted of the following.

1. Living Area with Flat Screen TV two sofa's Kitchen with Bar and Stools and coffee/tea facilities.

2. Bedroom 1 - two twin beds/flat screen TV/Bathroom with shower and sink - very modern and comfortable.

3. Bedroom 2 - one low style double bed/flat screen TV/Bath/Shower.

4. Turn down service each night/dressing gowns/slippers/pool towels provided.

5. Terrace with a Jacuzzi and sun lungers - if you want the large terrace you need to request the grand suite on the first floor.

The grand suite was 5 star status, excellent offer as the room had just been built.

6. Pool lovely with plenty of sunbeds

7. Bar/restaurant areas very very chic this is not a 3 star hotel more 4-5 star.

8. Entertainment - rather lacking not much for children to do but great to sit outside with a cocktail and watch the world go by.

I have travelled quite abit and I have to say the management at this hotel have really made this a very welcoming Hotel, all staff very friendly and went out of their way to assist.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions.

Top Local Tips for Ayia Napa

Take a trip to the mountains If the heat is getting to you, hire a car and go in search of the Kaledonia Falls in the Toodos mountains. Its a 2.5km hike uphill following the path of the river bed but you once you get there it is well worth the effort, and you can also cool off under the waterfall!

Haggle Dont just go into the 1st bar you see when you get there have a walk round the square and talk to some of the promoters they'll try and drag you in their club but just have a chat to them find out the deals they're offerin then tell them that you'll be back later they'll try and drag you in but move on and i assure u that if you walk past again they'll offer you a better deal second time around. At the end of the day your on holiday so get a little bit cheeky with them, push for free drinks or tickets to clubs most will offer them anyway, but just dont be taken for a mug, make sure you get the best deal. They like you more and you'll get more out of them if you haggle a little with them, its fun for you and them.

Water World Its a must, Go its brilliant. Check their website out first if you must be its a definate day out. Don't go via the holiday rep though as you have to make your own way there at 10 euros via taxi each way can be expensive. However local tours do it for the same price with free transfers.
