what a week

from vicks23
only got back sunday and im missing it already! there were 7 of us in total with 2 rooms, rooms were big and clean, only thing didnt have towls changed enough so had to collect from reception. the beach is nice, but if you go 5mins down the road you will be at nissi beach and that realy is a beautiful place to go! the hotel is in a good location for water park (def do there its great), beach and the square! staff cant do enough for you, the ents staff are funny, they do a great job! food is good like the way you pick off a menu for lunch and dont have to go into restaurant. i would def go back and stop in this hotel again, it caters for all!!!!

Liked the Hotel hated The Pidgeons

Just came back on 2nd May. On the whole it is not a bad place to holiday Staff are great and hotel is generaly very clean, although rooms could do with a bit of an upgrade. Only problem that we could see was, on rooms with balconies facing onto the sea they have a problem with pidgeons nesting on the roofs. in the morning there was droppings on the railings and balcony floors and to be fair these were washed and the hotel staff did deal with the problem. The hotel is fairly well located, far enough from the centre if you want quiet, and near enough to walk to the pubs, clubs and restaurants. Good place for families. and yes I would go back.

we loved the place

from brano
me and my family really loved it,the appartments were clean the area around was really well kept and the pool area was clean, and there was lots of activitys during the day. Inside the reception area it was amazing the dining room and the food was lovly, there was something for every taste. the staff were freindly trustworthy and truly lovely people. this hotel was close to every were you needed to be, Nisssi beach being one of the best. we took very happy and fond memories with us. next year were going to paphos, but we do hope the following year to come back here. thanks to all the staff there. hope if your going ther you will have a brilliant time as we did. XxX

Gone down in my estimation

from Loups
What can i say, we have been coming here since we got married at this hotel in October 2003.

Our wedding was a last minute decision on our all ready booked holiday, we loved the place and have returned year after year.

Unfortunately this year was quite poor.

Travellers were the following

Me and Hubby
4 year old son
2 friends
sister in law and partner
Mother and Father in Law

A friend of ours was getting married on the 2nd week of our holiday.

Last year (August) we complained about the sunbeds and patio furniture, it looked like they had been painted to hide the wear and tear, my sone and his grandad suffer terribly with exzcema and the paint rubbed off all over their bodies, they promised to rectify it, guess what this year they were exactly the same.

The rooms are in need of refurbishment very drab and tired looking, the pool area was a mess, it looked as though some lighting had broken around the edges of the pool instead of fixing them they placed wooden blocks over them.

For 4 nights running the lights around the pool area were broke, it was pitch black very dangerous as most apartments are around the pool area you have to walk across to get to your room.

Kids club - last year my son could not get enough absolutely loved it, this year he went twice and would not go back, last year there was a lovely girl called Dawn who ran it, she was fab with the kids, this year it was 2 young party animal girls who looked like they had just crawled in from the night before, my son said that they just made you sit on the carpet and watch tv,

Hotel entertainemnt - some company called one stop entertainment, if you like bingo and killer pool your in for a real treat this was the highlight of the entertainment, the 2 people doing it were more interested in who their conquest for the evning was going to be if you get my drift.

First choice are the only agent who book this place, they had for some reason, allowed a group of Rugby players - about 12 of them to stay at this hotel, and whilst they were extremely well behaved around the pool area - no swearing or anything that soon changed, half way through our first week a group of girls arrived probably about 12 of them all under 18 well it was bedlam, of course the rugby lads and the girls all got it on and it made for an extremely unpleasant atmosphere in what is supposed to be a family hotel.

Our rooms were not cleaned daily nor was the bed made up/towels changed etc. There were lots of different creepy crawliy things this year, never seen anything in all my time here, Cockroaches the lot i was truly saddened after this holiday as i loved it here, but unless it cleans its act up i wont be going back.

We spoke to Reception regarding the problems, and they explained that First choice would not release any money to upgrade and that they were currently in discussion with them, i hope they change tour operators, becasue this used to be a wonderful family holiday village.

Went on two trips organised by First Choice - Northern exposure to the North of Cyprus - please dont waste your money we spent 8 hours on a coach it was dire.

Larnaca Market - the bus drops you off then gives you 2 times to pick you up, however, you have absolutley no chance of getting back on the bus its too full larnaca market was rubbish it took us all of 30 minutes to walk around it.

On another note, Andre who works in the bar/breakfast room in the day is lovely very knowledgeable and really friendly, Demetris is funny the bar manager, very cheeky, Tasar the Maitre de is nice and always willing to help, and Krisinta from Reception is wonderful.

On another note we had a fantastic meal at Markos Fish resteraunt at the harbour it was delicious give it a try.

There are so many things i could say but have now got RSI from all this typing, if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

loved the location and the staff hotel and reps

from whippy
we had never been to cyprus before so didnt know what to expect the hotel was very clean food was very good so much choice morning and evening all staff were friendly very good location on beach and pool wa s great for all ages swimmers and nonswimmers .the entertainment was the same over and over again with killer pool watervolleyball and usual round of singers night after night but saturday nights were great with a belly dance and fire show the only night worth staying in for would definatly go back to electra had a fantastic time

Amazing Hotel

from pinkdebra2005
Me and my partner stayed here at the end april for 2 weeks, we couldnt fault the hotel or the staff, they made the holiday great, we stayed in a room over looking the pool and bar area. the maids clean the room every day and do a fab job.The rep's have activities on through out they day for kids and adults, there is a mini market on site where you get almost any type of food, although the english brands can be quite pricey (heinz beens £1 cypriate, £1.40GBP) its is located on nicos magic beach which is really nice. it is about a 45 min walk to the main square although i must warn you there isnt much to do for children, the harbour is also about 45 mins away and very nice, they do boat trips i would advice the Yellow Submarine, they do a great diving show great for people of any age. along nissy avenue which is 2 mins from the hotel its lined with restaraunts i was quite shocked at how expensive it was in ayia napa, compared to pafos, if you get the chance hire a scooter for a few days and travel to pafos, and paraliminy, these are great areas for torists and have endless gift shops. the night life is fab, Titanic club is a really fun night, followed by bedrock. although if you are goin to ayia napa for the clubs it doesnt compare to ibiza, we had a great time and as i said the hotel made the stay amazing.

electra village's best attribute was the food, we were all inclusive and the meals were superb, fresh, varied and beautifully presented, the bar and restaurant staff could not be faulted. However, the soft drinks were absolutely vile, very oversweet local coke, lemonade etc. Jimmy the head waiter was a legend and The First choice reps were very friendly and entertained the children especially Jolly John!! Unlike the One Stop entertainers that [-----] and bickered to guests about the other staff constantly and fought openly in front of the guests. The pool was huge and very warm, unfortunately there were no ladders (meaning very bruised legs), just a minor gripe tho. The hotel is situated on a beach, but we were advised not to swim there as it was infested with urchins that caused damage to feet!. However a 5 minute walk leads you to sandy bay, and Nissi Beach is just along th coast. You must haggle with taxi drivers and walk to the rank just around the corner rather than let reception call one (as they refused to take a 7-seater booking even tho a 7 seater turned up) obviously on a commission!!! You must also realise that First Choice have rated this as 4 suns. Do not get confused and think the accomodation is 4*. It is very basic and children sleep on sofa beds with green itchy blankets. The sheets weren't changed once and the bin was only emptied three times. However, the surroundings were stunning, with lush green shrubs and exotic plants. I would return to Cyprus but perhaps try another part of the Island as we exhausted all trips in Ayia napa. A restful holiday with laughable evening entertainment, but it was overall very enjoyable. The main square is only a £4 taxi ride away and is worth a visit just to see the night life which is actually amazing. My 13 & 15 year old daughters were given free shots of sambucca (the joy) which we drank on their behalf!! I know they would love to have gone clubbing, but settled for paragliding on Nissi Beach. Altho Electra is a family resort, they do have many groups of clubbers to fill their spaces. On the whole I think that going all inclusive was quite expensive for my 13 & 16 yr old girls as we had to pay full price and they obviously dont drink alcohol and the cheap soft drinks were undrinkable, although bottled water is cold and plentiful!! If you want guaranteed hot weather, a huge warm pool and good food, Electra is the place for you. If you want entertainment or luxurious rooms try eleswhere.

value for money

from alikeir
we have just return from the electra for a two week holiday we have 2 children age 5 and 8, and we were joined by friends who had a 2 yr old, 5, 11, 15 and 16 year olds, children loved the pool and the kids club, rep was full of information, the daytime activities only seemed to run now and again and did not coinside with what was on the board but harriet and liz did a great job, we were self catering and found it very exspensive in the little shop a cheaper one is just down the road, apartment was a little tired and beds very hard especially the small beds in lounge, only a few minor worries the first being that first choice use this accomodation for twentys when booking late deals this is a family complex several of our party were woken at 5 am noisy youngsters coming in and diving in the pool !!!! , maids were lovelly but the bathroom did smell a bit and the patio floor was never brushed. my only other problem was that our children bought quiet a few lilo's which we taken by other guests much to the sadness of my 5 yr old (you know who you are !!)
other than that if you like butlins you will love this one great value for familes huge pool nice location.
would i return not to the electra but yes to cyprus

Great Holiday

from shaz1976
Just came back from Electra, we had a great holiday and would be going again. The hotel next to a sandy beach and 5 minutes walk to Sandy Bay with lots of activities for kids(climing frames, houses, bouncing castle and trampolines and all free) and water sports. 10 minutes walk for the famous Nissi Beach, which is just beautiful.
Hotel great, the staff very friendly and very hard working, maid service excellant came in 5 times in a week and very friendly to us. Hotel entertainment ok, with day and evening entertainment, first choice rep very helpful and friendly, swimming pool lovely and we did not think it was that cold, good shallow end. Really enjoyed food, we were all-inclusive, buffet for breakfast and dinner with lots of choice, lunch was menu also with a very good choice, enjoyed the drinks. Hotel has indoor pool and gym, which we did not use, tv in lounge with world cup on (but in greek), supermarket, pool table and games, internet access, play area and tennis courts, easy access to beach.
Apartment very big, ours overlooking pool and bar, set of terrance at night to get drink from bar, very romantic.Shops, bars, restaurant and play areas all near by, Water World great and would recommend for a great day out for any age £15 cypriot pound for adults and £8 for children over 3, taxi for Electra £4, not in walking distance but local bus also takes you to it. Would recommend this hotel and going again, Cyprus is a beatuful country next time we hope to see it more

simple and relaxed holiday

from A TripAdvisor Member
as a family we chose the electra holiday village. mainly so my grandson could mix with other childfen at the kids club, and give us a few hours to relax ourselves. he enjoyed his kid club sessions and the entertainers worked hard.
The pool at the electra is fairly large, and accomadated every-one at this off peak time, i wonder how packed it would be in the peak holidays.
We found the food had a reasonable selection, but repetitive. we understand how difficult it is to please everyone. The restaurant area was clean and the staff were neat and tidy.
We felt that the day and evening entertainment could have been better, this was also repetitive.
The Electra is in a nice location , just meters away from the beach, with well kept gardens and generally good repair. The colour scheme of cream and brown buildings look really nice. The apartments are clean , tidy and spacious. Its a shame that the beach front could not be cleared and have sand like the next bay. With loungers and perhaps a beach bar, ice creams, snack bar, more people from the Electra would use the beach as well. Perhaps this is something for the future.
