The hotel is not brand new, so if you are looking for luxury, you probably won't want to stay at Hotel Dunav (Danube). That said, however, I really enjoyed staying there. It feels like you have stepped back in time a bit. The staff was friendly, though I didn't find anyone who spoke English. The rooms are not fancy, but you have everything you need. There is a nice cafe/restaurant on the ground floor, and the hotel is right by the river and close to everything in the center of town. As I was there with a group, I am not sure how much the rooms cost, but I can't imagine they would be terribly expensive - surely much cheaper than the brand new Hotel Lav nearby. I am planning another visit to Vukovar in Spetember 2007 and I will be staying at Hotel Dunav again. It is a hotel that has a lot of character and charm.
