Top Local Tips for Split

Traveling to Split Airport We just stayed in Split for one night at end of sailing holiday. Split town is about 30 GBP / 60USD from Split Airport. You would be better to stay in nice town of Trogir - also an old walled town/island and much nearer the airport. Note that if you do stay in Split and take #37 bus to airport it has many mosquitoes in it to put on your bug repellent!

Bus from Split to Airport Although we took the Croatian Airlines bus from the airport to the center of Split, we were told that the buses run 1.5 hours before most flights from Split back to the airport but that there was no timetable available. We were worried about the return journey as we were flying on EasyJet so we wandered to the taxi ranks and found an airport minibus which charged the same as the Croatian Airlines bus (30 Kuna per person) and we waited 5 minutes for the minibus to be filled with about 10 passengers. It was a much better bargain than paying 38 Euros for a private taxi and we did not have the hassle of being on a large bus wrestling with other people and their luggage.

Bus from the airport Wait for the bus to Split city centre. It costs only 30 kuna and runs every 20 mins, whereas the taxi costs 270 kunas.
