Krka National Park If you are in the area of Split you'd be mad not to go to this glorious park where natural beauty is outstanding. Dramatic and all encompassing waterfalls and peaceful rivulets of water covering a large area with wooden walkways to enable you to get in amongst the most spectacular scenery.

Croatian buses are expen$ive, rent a car and be free For example, the bus ride from Split to Sibenik (2 hours) is about 80 kuna round trip (at the time it was 4 kunas to the dollar). Plus, you pay 7 to 10 kuna to check your bag in the trunk or "boot" of the bus. The buses do not have bathrooms. Also, different bus companies have different policies. Some sell assigned seats and that's it, others just sell as many tickets as possible and people rush to get on, leaving some folks standing in the aisle. Since some buses stop at little out of the way places, it would end up thinning out but it was stressful. The last bus ride, from Zadar to Rijeka, was 5 hours, 160 kunas a person. After that, we rented a car to see the Istrian peninsula, since 160 times three was more than the daily fee to rent a car. I recommend renting a car, driving is safe and easy, roads are in good shape and drivers are courteous. Roads are well signed and signs easy to follow. It is Europe so it's stick shift, but right side of the road driving.
