Rijeka has few budget hotels and this one was recommended in a Berlitz guide, but don't go unless you like surly staff, dirty rooms, decaying grandeur and a pitiful breakfast. The hotel is surrounded by alively cafe terrasse and even when it closes local youngsters use the area as a meeting point until the early hours. There's no air conditioning, so on a hot night don't expect to close the window on all this noise.
