Horrendous, dangerous, dirty

Looks stunning from a big distance and centrally located, but only recommended for rodent habitation. This place hasn't had a shred of work done to it since the 1940's and maybe earlier, the newest thing in the rooms must be the TVs which are circa late '80s. ALL of the wood work is rotten, the beds collapse when you're exhausted enough to lie on them, the bathrooms are no less than 100 years old and are horrific and indescribable. At breakfast they had dirty plates so went elsewhere but other people described the coffee as a run off of the previous days washing up.

The building - Structurally unsound and dangerous, large hand sized cracks in the walls, massive chunks of masonary hanging off waiting to come down on someone's head. Plenty of evidence of previous fallings visible because the onimous dents in the breakfast terrace. Not good since it's not too far from one of the world's major fault lines. Our bathroom door didn't close properly because the floor had apparently moved.

Grand Lady Hotel

We stayed in September 2006 and anjoyed the Hotels closeness to everything. Walked everywhere. Although old, the hotel is like a grand old lady. It has a beautiful entrance and the rooms were adequate. We loved the view of the Colloseum from our room. I would love to see this old lady have a makeover and bring her back to 4-5 star quality. Service was friendly and helpful.

We stayed in this hotel 2 years ago. Beds were comfortable, the room was very clean, nice bathroom and the hotel was quiet. I enjoyed the aura of the building. Breakfast was tasty. The hotel is within walking distance of the sea and downtown.

Just go... Great place...Just go and soak up the history! Neat museums, easy transport, easy walking, free concerts, etc...

retireddublin98 Taxi's have standard prices example from airport to Pula 100 krona. Excursions are very good value and well worth the money charged and invariably include a meal. Dining prices are similar and like all places if you use restaurants near centre or attractions you pay more in Pula it is the opposite. Drink prices do change considerably by area but they are still cheap compared to Dublin prices, 2 euros a pint!! Pula will one day reach the standard of other Mediteranean towns but it will take time.

Good Taxi service The taxis around Pula are cheap enough and reliable. There is no public transport from the airport into town so get a taxi there are loads waiting at the airport and they'll have you into town in about 15 minutes.
