just got back from a very enjoyable week at the neptun. Food plentifull,good choice,all staff very welcoming and plesant,rooms small but spotless.Downside,no airconditioning,rooms at rear of hotel are noisey till fairly late and around 7am when the bins are emptied.Would also advise to check on date of porec festival which runs for 48hrs without a break, live music,djs, etc.

Top Local Tips for Porec

Trips out If you have time don't miss Postojna caves, the Plitvice Lakes. They are long days but the sights are worth the journey. Look them up on the web to see what we mean. The boat trips down the coast are excellent but book them with the boat when you want to go not with the tour agent you'll save 10-20%. Buses take you to Pula and stops in between but be warned the times in yellow don't run at weekends - Sat or Sun a couple with us got caught over that.

Sunbathing Buy a padded mat from one of the stalls - you'll regret it if you dont!!

Use the Kristian All of the tourist boats tout for trade along the quayside. The biggest are not the best. OK they provide a meal but it is poor quality. Go for a boat called the 'Kristian'. Its only small but it has padded cushion seats and it can get all the way up the Lim Fjord when the other boats have to stop halfway down at the Pirates Cave. Great couple who run this small boat and no boom, boom music.
