Hotel's glory days are long past

This beautiful old hotel has great charm and it's obvious that it was once a remarkable hotel, but it's glory days are long gone. What is left is a somewhat run down hotel in great need of a major restoration. We were booked into a two bedroom suite, which had amazing views and was the most spacious suite I've had the pleasure of staying in, but the furniture, bedding, fixtures etc were so outdated that it took what could have been an amazing suite and reduced it to an adaquate room in which to rest for the night. The staff are all very pleasant and helpful. The grounds are well maintained and the location is probably one of the best in Opatija. Opatija is amazing and should be enjoyed by all.

We stayed in this elegant annex for two weeks on D,B & B basis. The room was large and adequately furnished. The staff was friendly and helpful. We took meals in the Kvarner. We are fish eating vegetarian, so we were limited somewhat. Breakfasts, buffet, were particularly good. We enjoyed our stay there, Opatija is a lovely place, plenty of walking and swimming. We will return to the same hotel in late August this year. This is something we have never done before, the world is a big place! A testament to how much we enjoyed the area and the people.
