Old Fashioned Grandeur

Stayed in Imperial July 2004 with family - ages in party 35, 32, 61 & 18 months. Like much of Opatija, Hotel imperial is built in the grand Victorian style and has changed little since its glory days in the 1900's. (Perhaps due for a refit - the grandeur is fading). Staff very polite, helpful and baby-friendly. Family room was huge, really a suite, single was small but both full of character and a glorious view from the balcony. The restaurant was like something from a period drama, all velvet drapes and crystal chandeliers. Food was excellent: breakfast buffet fresh, plentiful and very varied, dinner was served with a choice of 5 or 6 main courses and two starters & desserts (chosen the night before). The hotel's bar, cafe and terrace supplied fine hot & cold drinks and superb cakes etc at very reasonable prices. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel.
