We found this hotel over the internet last year and booked it pretty much not knowing what to expect. Alhambra turned out to be a wonderful Austro-Hungarian villa converted into a small hotel. The reason why it has two stars is because it has no air condition or a swimming pool. However, it is set in the within a pine forest so it does not need a/c and the sea is a few steps away from the hotel.
The hotel on the whole is very homely and unpretentious. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is great. Guess where I am going this year (next week in fact!)
PS a tip for prospective guests: the half board arrangement allows you to swap dinner for vouchers which you can exchange for a meal in quite a few places in the bay of Cikat. This is great if you are going out in the evening (it means you don't waste a meal you paid for as part of the board) or if you prefer to have lunch rather than dinner. Also, staff at the restaurant belonging to the nearby Villa Hortenzija are especially friendly!

This is one of the most beautiful and unspoiled islands on the Adriatic coast. It's perfect for families and for people seeking peace and tranquillity. Hotel Alhambra is a very special place and you're bound to keep coming back year after year. Dear Janet, why don't you and your family stick to Benidorm or some other place in Spain, eat fish and chips and be happy. Please leave these special places to be enjoyed by people who do know how to appreciate its beauty.

We were so shocked at this hotel,plug sockets hanging off walls in our room.Old,grubby & stained bedding. Was like staying in an hospital room except a hospital room would have been cleaner,brighter & more comfy.Food disgusting,never served hot & No hyegine,tea & coffee also cold.Staff very unhelpful,watched us struggle up the stairs with our luggage.We ended our holiday early as we couldnt bear it any longer at this so called hotel.
