Hvar - Exceptional Destination If you truly want a taste of what the "ideal" Adriatic (Med) destination was like 600 years ago (with just a few modern conveniences) you'll want to visit this place. The people couldn't be nicer and the food was outstanding. Make sure you try the local white wines - they are comparable to many of the best Italian Piedmonts. Podstine Hotel was one of the best hotels I had ever visited. The spa was great, the rooms comfortable, staff was superior, food was incredible; there is a dive center next to the hotel (the dive master was a bore). You can't go wrong. Pick out any restaurant in and around the old town water front and you will be impressed .

Patchy Hvar hotels are patchy quality and the food in most hotels is not great. Keep expectations in check - this is not Four Seasons country (yet).
