This hotel is magnificent!! We stayed for two nights in the newly finished five star rooms. The decor was beautiful, artwork on the walls and a very comfortable king size bed. The view fom the balcony was priceless. The hotel was fully booked, it was a weekend in August and the sevice was exceptional. Staff always had a friendly smile and were ready to help at all times. We have two young children and the park was just wonderful. The food at the restaurant was extraordinary and the prices were great!

I would definetly recommend Hotel Neptun and look forward to staying there again!

Very pleasant stay

We had a very pleasant 3 nights in an a/c room with a great view overlooking the Elephanti Islands. The bus into the old town of Dubrovnik couldn't have been more simple - we bought our bus tickets from the hotel reception each morning. We went into the old town each morning and came back mid-afternoon each day to escape the crowds and heat and spend time swimming in the Adriatic. Then again in the evenings we would go into Dubrovnik for dinner. The ocean has very easy access to the large swimming area in the ocean and lots and lots of lounges and umbrellas for everyone. Breakfast had something for everyone - muesli, yoghurts, cereals, fresh fruit (kiwi, peaches, plums, bananas, oranges and apples), scrambled eggs, frankfurts and sausages (for the German tourists??), lots of varieties of healthy, seedy buns, cheeses, salami, ham, etc. (to make your lunch with?), juices, herbal teas and regular teas, coffee, etc. Really, there was something for everyone and such a pleasant spot to eat breakfast each morning outdoors overlooking the ocean. We would recommend it.

WOW, what a great hotel! Friendly, helpful staff. We stayed in one of the new air-conditioned suites which was perfect for traveling with our two small children. 2 bathrooms and a kitchenette and a spectacular view of the Adriatic. They have a wading pool for smaller swimmers, which suited our needs perfectly. The food was good. Maybe we're naive about traveling in Europe, but we didn't realize the extensive breakfast was included in the price, and no one offered that information until we checked out. Otherwise we would have eaten there every morning! They do have a nice swimming area in the sea, but not a beach, so there was no easy entrance with little ones. But a good place to jump and dive, so we'll have to return in a few years. I would definitely come back.

We arrived at Hotel Neptun late evening on a hot summer day and were given a room with no A/C. The room was in the same building as reception, and it was tiny and spartan with a balcony overlooking the Adriatic. I went down to reception to argue about the room (I obviously booked one with A/C knowing how hot mainland Europe gets in the summer) and the guy with glasses at the front desk was giving me a hard time, saying for $80/person/night that would be the kind of room I'd get.

Luckily another guy (probably the manger) came to the rescue and allowed us to upgrade to the next level of rooms with A/C. In fact he was nice enough to give us the 2-bedroom family room, with 2 bathrooms and 2 balconies. What a difference the room makes! The view from our balconies was gorgeous, overlooking the pool and onto the ocean. The bathrooms were immaculate and large, and each room had a TV and phone so my friend and I had our own private space.

The breakfast was the normal unimpressive affair, hot dishes with cereals and yogurt. The hotel was a 3-min walk to the bus stop and a trip into old town took about 15 mins. Very easy ride.

I'd recommend Hotel Neptun for families and people on a budget looking for seclusion. I was happy with my stay but will probably try a different hotel that has a real spa and larger pools next time.

Hotel Neptun - the only place to stay in Dubrovnik

In May 2006, I had the chance to stay at Hotel Neptun in Dubrovnik with a friend. The hotel was absolutely incredible and made our stay in Dubrovnik a trip to remember. Every day we got to lounge on the beautiful rock beach or by one of the pools. The restaurant offered great food and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room had a private balcony with a view of the Adriatic Sea and everything was clean and comfortable. You can catch a bus steps away from the hotel which will take you into the city center so that you can experience the beauty of Dubrovnik. You can also walk along the sea from the hotel. Overall, we couldn't have hoped for a better experience and can't wait to go back!

Loved the staff

Staff can make or break your vacation and at the Hotel Neptune they have the best. From my first day the bellboys, reception and restaurant staff were friendly, helpful and provided great service.

The hotel is in a great location. Frequent cheap buses to Old Town and an easy walk to the market where there are lots of restaurants (although the market itself is inferior).

I have to say that the hotel Neptun is excellent!
We stayed in the new wing and our room was over viewing the sea...absolute fabulous!
The staff was really nice and efficient. The hotel has a perfect private beach (with free sun lounges and parasols) and the water is so clean...When we were there they were very few kids around (as the beach is very rocky) and they almost stayed in the swimming pools (they are two of them with salt water!)
It's a perfect spot to relax and lying in the sun.
The breakfast buffet has a large selection of food and the quality of sea food in the lunch menu is excellent, they also give you the opportunity to pick up everything you want from the menu (if you are on half board).
The bus service to Dubrovnik is very good, buses run all the times and the bus stop is just outside the hotel (the old town is far only 15 min.)
I will go back for sure as I think that Croatia is amazing!

Quiet and peaceful in hotel Neptun

We just came back from a trip to Dubrovnik, and had a wonderful stay in this hotel.
As we had read some bad reviews, we asked for a good room on arrival, and was offered a different room from the one we ordered at a good price. This room was in a newly renovated building with luxury rooms and was very nice. It had a wonderful view from the balcony. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful, we even had an upgrade of our room to luxury apartment free of charge.
The beach facilities were very good, with nice sunbeds/umbrellas, pool and restaurant.
The bus to the center was located 5 minutes from the hotel, and with the express line it was only 10 minutes to the old town.
Hotel Neptun is a good choice for people who love quiet surroundings, the garden with trees and flowers and the magnificent sea view made this trip a very relaxing experience.

Fabulous, Excellent, Wonerful, 5 Star, Magnificent.

Stayed at the Neptun at the end of May 2006. Cannot understand why it was only 3 star. We stayed in a suite which was newly renovated. It was fabulous. Staff were excellent and very helpful. Breakfast was extensive and filled you up for the whole day.

I have stayed in hotels all round the world and at this present time the Neptun Hotel is number one on my best list.

This hotel is really under rated and should be upgraded to a 5 star as soon as possible.

Excellent Choice ( Specially for Families)

We went to Dubrovnik end of May for my husband's Birthday and we stayed in a 2 bedroom, Living room and small kitchenite suite in hotel Neptun as we have 3 children. The suite was definately 5 stars standard, the part we satayed was renovated and opened a day earlier so it was fantastic with excellent views. The hotel is 5 minutes drive from the old town there is a bus. Beakfast is very good with lot of choice. The kids enjoyed the kids pool and the small playground. I really cannot understand why its a 3 stars.Overall it was a nice stay in an exceptional city.

Top Local Tips for Dubrovnik

Superb city Walk the walls - it costs 50 kruna, and will take about 2.5 hours but the views are gorgeous. There are various cafes along them to stop to rest your weary feet. Lovely city, but the food is not too great, but try the local wine, I believe its worth drinking.

bus get the bus!!! do not try and drive into the city old or new town on your own, parking is sparce and it is way easier to take the bus for 6 kuna!

Old City tour I cannot find any reason to climb the steps to the top of the wall surrounding the Old City, much less pay 50 kn (approx. $10.00) to do it. EVERYTHING in the Old City is extremely overpriced!!! There is a lot more to see without having to go broke seeing it! The city is also VERY crowded!
