Review of Marina hotel in Brela (July 2007)

Hotel has bigger and smaller rooms and all have king beds and a couch. No double beds. Best view is from higher-up floors overlooking the sea (request sea view, floor #4 and higher, when making a reservation). Good location right next to the beach, however, the streach of beach right in front of the hotel has fairly large pebbles (not good). In search for a better beach, you want to walk for 5-10 minutes. The restaurant (cafeteria-type) in the hotel offers good selection of meals @ 90 kuna / person (excluding drinks) - a bigger bang for the buck as compared to near-by restaurants. At the same time, every day the meal selection is similar. Overall, Marina is a good 3 star level hotel.
Fantastic location, fantastic hotel

I stayed at Marina for a week and found the location of the hotel perfect. The hotel was spotless fab single room on the corner overlooking the sea. Yes the beaches are pebbly but u can buy shoes for £4 and a beach metres for £6 which folds up so you can carry it. Really friendly locals was just what I wanted in a chilled out week away would definitely go again. If you're looking for lots to do don't go before the end of May as not all tours and restaurants were up and running.
Fantastic

The Hotel - We would not normally stop in a 3 star hotel. Usually, if you want a hotel on the beach, with A/C and mini bar you would need to look at 4 star at least. The hotel was superb - large bedroom with table and chairs, a/c, safety deposit box, very comfy beds large furnished balcony (ours overlooking the sea) and like the rest of the hotel absolutely spotlessly clean. Had read report with a certain critisism of the breakfast but ther was a good variety of cereals, fruit, yoghurts, boiled eggs, scambled eggs and very fresh breads etc. We were on half board and the selection for dinner was excellent with usually a choice of 2 fish dishes along 2 of either Turkey, Beef, Pork, Chicken etc. as well as salads. All in all first class.
The Resort - voted the best beech in Europe and No. 6 in the world by Forbes magazine of America and we will not argue with that - absolutely stunning.
We tavelled the whole length of the Makarska Riviera and the coast line is fantastic with cove after cove and harbour after harbour.
Dubrovnik is a must and we also went to Trogir another world heritage site. The rivers, lakes and waterfalls at Krka National Park are also well worth a visit (and a swim)
The exchange rate as always is better abroad than at home so dont take more than a few pounds of Kuna - you should take Sterling. You can keep it in your room safe and change what you need each day or two - so simple.
Anybody who looks for beutiful beaches, scenery and clear sea water and just needs a few drinks in the bars (some with live music (not rock)can not fail to have a marvelous holiday

Extremely well run, very clean. Safety deposit boxes in rooms. About 62 steps down to beach, was a problem for me. Didn't like pool in Hotel Maestral, too deep. Not enough sun beds. Sea was ok if you had protective shoes on but it did get deep quickly. It was a very pretty place, lovely outlook from balcony. Food wasn't to my taste but there was lots of it. Lovely shower, skin and hair felt so soft. Very pleasant walks along promenade.
Fantastic relaxing clean good food and clearest sea have to get up at 6am to get a place on the beac

What a lovely clean relaxing place,no traffic as the hotel is down from the main road. The rooms are comfortable as are the beds and the restaruant is able to cater for all tastes. The staff are friendly, even the cleaners. The grounds are lush and the beach was the best I have ever seen even though it is pebbley.I f you want to chill out this is the place except there is one drawback,to get some shade on the beach you will have to take turns getting up at six to put out your towels, even then you can't be sure they won't be moved. Not a lot for the children to do except be on the beach and I wouldn't recomend going on a boat trip to Hvar,it takes hours and the beaches there arent as nice as Brela.

Hotel Marina is a lovely hotel near the beautiful resort of Brela. The hotel is situated in lovely surroundings of pine woods, mountains, and sea. It is tranquil and peaceful. The rooms are comfortable and very clean, as is the whole hotel. The staff are very friendly and speak good English. There are two criticisms though. One is that there are no safety deposit boxes in the rooms. Your valuables are kept in lockable boxes in a secure cupboard below reception. each box is numbered and you get your key when you check in. the only problem with this is that somebody could make a copy of your key and have access to your valuables as the steel barred doors of the cupboard are always left open. the other point is the breakfast menu is always the same and the breakfast on offer is always continental, which is fine, but not all of us want to eat yogurt fruit and bland boiled sausage cheese cold bacon and salami every day. Would have been nice if an English breakfast was on offer to as there was quite a few English there. After all we had paid just as much money if not more than the other European guests that where there. It would have been nice to have had a choice for our money. Having said all that I will definitely stay there again as this is a quality hotel and can only get better.
