DiRent a Car - terrible car rental company! I just came back from a trip to Sofia, Bulgaria, and had the most awful experience with DiRent a Car, a Bulgarian/Greek car rental company with a desk at Sofia Airport. We had filled the car with petrol instead of diesel at the gas station at the airport, and DiRent had to change the filter of the engine and re-fill the car. They charged us 300 euros for this, while the total price for changing a filter for that type of car in Bulgaria is 60 euros. We paid 5x the market price, and this is because our insurance policy had a limit of 350 euros and DiRent a Car wanted to charge us as much as possible up to the limit. We have rented cars from DiRent several times, and their service is OK until there is a small problem and they have an opportunity to embezzle as much money as possible. All major international car rental companies such as Hertz, Avis, Europcar, etc. have desks at Sofia Airport. Please save yourself the headache and go with an established car rental player!!! DiRent a Car is the WORST car rental company i have ever rented a car from, and will use every opportunity to steal money from you!
