Top Local Tips for Oostende
Shopping is great Ostend has some great designer shops which we don't have in the UK. It is a nice place with friendly shop owners who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The minute they realise you are English they switch to speaking English and seem to enjoy communicating with you. I would definitely recommend visiting there, just be careful which hotel you choose.

I cheap shopping trip for all There are very good markets and unlike in the UK there is still C&A stores I have family members that go a couple of times a year to stock up on there cheap cigarettes but its always the markets for me there is one every Thursdays and Saturday and often others but I can’t remember when there are lots to do if shopping isn’t for you lots of bars, and a casino then there is the beaches and parks all within a short walk from the hotel. Take the time to walk around and take in all the sites but a must is a visit to the park with the flower clock garden each day the date is changed so it makes a good photo of you with the time and date and I know that your cameras can do this but it doesn’t look has good has the park.

Our bedroom was small, cramped and dismal. The single beds were pushed together in a pathetic attempt to create more space. This was not successful. An arrangement llike this is no substitute for a double bed. The bedroom carpet must have had a pattern however this was hidden beneath a layer of ingrained dirt and stains. The decor was utilitarian and cheap.
The bathroom was uncomfortably small. I had to manouevre myself between the basin and a wall in order to get to the loo - not an easy feat in the night when it was impossible to find a light switch which had been placed on the wall above the basin in what is probably the most inaccessible and unsafe place possible. How did this hotel pass its health and safety check?
The continental breakfasts were basic and lacked either taste or variety - blandness was the order of the day.The daily offer was cheese, ham, boiled eggs, basic cereals which children might like ( cornflakes, cocopops, rice krispies)fruit squah masquerading as fresh juice and thin, rather dry bread. No yoghurt, fruit or pastries. In a town with an abundance of boulangeries and patisseries this is disgraceful.
The only good thing about the hotel, apart from the leaving of it, is its location - close to the seafront and within walking distance of cafes, bars, restaurants and shops. Their proximity only served to emphasise the shortcomings of the hotel.
