You wont get better value in Brussels.

My wife and I called ahead and reserved the Zanzibar room... I now wish we had taken the option to stay a few days longer in the China room, which was booked by the time we arrived. Hotels fill up quick in Brussels especially during the weekdays - but none of the other places we stayed (all of them more expensive) matched the experience of the Welcome Hotel. The room decor was gorgeous, and the idea of the theme hotel with rooms designed after different countries was fantastically executed. The staff were uniformly friendly and the owner Michel was the most enthusiastic European I have ever met! He gave us great hints about local things to see that we would have missed otherwise. The breakfast included was very pleasant as well. I can't think of a more romantic place in this part of the world to get away for a few days, especially those first days of the trip when you're a bit jet lagged and you want to spend more time in a beautiful room.

We are world travellers (currently based in Atlanta) who've been all over Europe, Brazil, and Africa, but this was our favorite hotel of all time.

Welcome Hotel - A hotel that lives up to its name

Several times a year I go to Brussels on business. This is my prefered hotel - although it is small and often booked solid. While near the Grand Place and sights, it is far enough away to be quiet and in an area where there are many good (mainly fish) restaurants used also by locals. As a plus it is only 50 metres from a Metro station - definitely the way to travel in Brussels!
But all this is true of many hotels. The Welcome stands out for two things: first, 'individual' rooms - themed to different world locations - rather than standard boxes; but above all for the willingness always to be friendly and helpful and 'go the extra mile'. (But don't tell anyone or it will be even more difficult to get a room....!

I allways stay in hotel Welcome, at least 10 times a year whenever I have to be in Brussels for my job. The rooms are beautifully decorated and they provide a homy atmosphere. The managers are soo friendly and helpful. I have taken my collegues to show them the room decorations, and now some of them have chosen this hotel also for their stays in Brussels. We prefer a small individual unique hotel above a anominous big hotel. St Catherina area is the best area to stay.

We were received as if we were friends and immediately were given all sorts of information about Brussels and what to do and where. The room was lovely, although there could have been more light. We certainly would return, Ben and Lianda Taylor

Good Choice

We stayed here for 3 nights in November. The location is great - easy walking distance to the historical sites downtown. On a quiet street across from the subway entrance - it was easy to get here from the train station without having to take a taxi. Numerous reasonable restaurants in the area (one La Villetta was excellent, great attentive service and reasonable prices). The room was okay - a little worn but comfortable and the solid windows kept out any noise that there was and we did not hear any noise from ajoining rooms. The continental breakfast was nice - typical rolls, breads, cheese, ham, hard boiled eggs, juices and coffee or tea. The owners were just so friendly without being intrusive. This is a 'keeper' and I would definitely stay here again should I ever visit Brussels in the future.

This is a super nice hotel! The rooms are great, it's not just another standard hotel! Every room has a different theme, so you will have to go back different times, to check out the other rooms.
The staff is really friendly and helpful. I will surely go back there another time.

A Great Big Welcome at A Tiny Hotel

The Hotel Welcome was a treat we would like to enjoy again. Kenya (room) was fun. The breakfast buffet was fresh and extensive and delicious. Staff were very friendly and helpful with accurate and informative advice about the city. A newly renovated reception and breakfast will be quite nice. Excellent value. Owner, Michael, is always exuberant

Funky and Friendly

My rooms -- I stayed twice recently -- were the funkiest I've ever had at a hotel -- in a good sense. I stayed in "Cuba" first, with a mural of old Havana on the wall and a fat cigar painted on the radiator. The opposite of an impersonal box. Second time, in "Thailand", was even better -- on top of a great room, I had a view, through roof-top windows, of the surrounding area of the city.

The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. I thought I was just in Brussels as a way-station between other destinations, but with their help, I discovered and enjoyed the city in an unanticipated way. The location was super for exploring the historical parts of the city. Plus, Vanessa may have helped me unravel the mystery of the origin of my family name, for which I'm very grateful.

Great experience. I'd definitely go back.

I have been coming to Brussels at least once a month on business for the last 10 years and only wish I had found this hotel earlier. Finally a place where you can feel a little bit "at home". The staff are very friendly and the characterful rooms are the perfect antidode to your typical boring business hotel. The location is also very good, close to the sights of the Grand Place and some great restaurants.

The Welcome Hotel treated us as members of their family, making sure that the room that they had reserved for us would meet our needs and then offering us a choice of others. Each room is so unique that it was difficult to choose. It is like having another trip to a foreign country while you're traveling in Europe. Their help in selecting a wonderful local restaurant nearby, made our last night in Brussels a delightful one! The Fish Market area is wonderful for easy strolling and easy location to all the sights.
Micheal's full breakfast was a feast and his daily homebaked crossants were the best we have ever eaten!! When the new breakfast room/reception area and elevator are completed this hotel will be even more of a gem!! A special thank you to Vanessa and Micheal for making our last night in Brussels so memorable!

from airport to city Instead of using the hotel shuttle, we took the train from the airport to the Central Station and then took the metro directly to the hotel. It was very inexpensive, and easy to navigate with luggage. Our hotel was directly across from th emetro stop at St. Catherine.

Driving Don't drive unless you are familiar with driving in European cities.
