My stay at this hotel was worth for money; nice room for reasonable price (especially because I booked my room from Internet service).

Historical Traveller Reviews of Thon Hotel Brussels City Centre Brussels

Probably one of nicest hotel in the city!

from Kimbrux
A hotel is located really in the centre, just face to the largest shopping area of Brussels and the Metro is just next door. Everything is closed. (10 minutes to the Grand Place and the old town!)
The staff is friendly, the room is modern with all facilities : internet connection (much cheaper than another cities in Europe! wouh), mini bar, coffee and tea facilities (Free). The breafkast buffet with the large choices of hot & cold items (not continental breakfast like another hotels!).
We really enjoy the Panoramic Sauna on the 29th floor with the amazing view on Brussels (free of charge for the guests).
We certainly come back very soon to the THON HOTELS !
Thank you!

NO Room At The Inn

from IrelandEamonn
Excellent hotel well located. I had requested late check in at 8pm.On arrival I was informed they were fully booked but alternative accomodation was offered in an hotel five minutes walk away.I requested transport none offered.Searching for an hour with bags and in poor weather I returned and eventually the manager agreed to transport me personally in his car which took at least five minutes. The alternate hotel charged 30 euro extra but I was glad of anything at this stage. This seems a common problem as I notice a previous reviwer had similar problem. Otherwise good value for money hotel.

Below Average

from ezh70
Nice reception. Dingy corridors and below average rooms. There was no shampoo or shower gel (although they did provide this when requested), the room was very small, the door lock didn't seem to work properly. The worst part however was that at 12.30 am a load of young guests arrived back from the bar and proceeded to racket up and down the corridor and into each others rooms for an hour, banging the doors, shouting and knocking on all the doors along the corridor. I eventually complained to the management (along with other guests) and they did stop. Book this hotel only if you can't find anywhere else!!

Great Hotel great value

from bobbles73
Great hotel which was quite cheap for its standard. I had stayed in the queen ann hotel which was alot more expensive and the tulip in made it look like a shack. Room was nice and clean however there was a problem with the air conditioning which made the room very warm. Couldn't check until one o clock but with loads to see and do in brussels we didn't mind as e just left our bags in the hotel. Would definately go back again.

Be sure not to check in late!!

from Nazju
I have only 1 complaint about this hotel - TRAVELLERS PLEASE TAKE NOTE - if you go to the hotel after 7pm, you risk being shifted to another hotel as the Tulip Inn would be fully booked. This is unexpectable. To make matters worse I was put in a chinese hotel for the night - the reception had a spicy smell and I was served noodles for breakfast - it was truly a "chinese experience"..!

They lied me

from jic
When I booked by Internet, in their web page said than the breakfast was included..
Anytime we arrived to the hotel they say is not included, and it cost 15 euro...They talked me that don't have Internet acces for check this date...
The mini-bar was empty, there was a freezer but without bottles.
Mrs. Nelia hotel's staff in desk, didn't want to fill the mini-bar because we had booked a standard room

Fantastic location and hotel

I was somewhat 'put off' when I read some of the reviews on this site. However, I booked this hotel for 11 ladies for a long weekend and can only say good things about it!! The staff were helpful, everywhere was spotless and the rooms were very nice - they all had an amazing view across the whole city. Breakfast was well presented and tasty. One of the best things about this hotel is that it is in a nice location where you feel very safe, especially for a city. It is a short walk to everywhere, and even a taxi from the airport only sets you back about 10 euros. I would definitely recommend this hotel to both groups and couples - I hope to return with my husband sometime in the future!

Terrible Hotel - Do not bring your children Here

from A TripAdvisor Member
The air conditioning was not working when I was staying so after the first night of trying to sleep in what felt like a sauna I went to reception to complain. The woman there did not even make a note of what I was saying, so unsuprisingly the next night the air conditioning was still broken. I requested a fan for the room so I could sleep, but no they wouldnt do this (despite saying they would "sort it out") The windows were sealed, in order to stop people falling out, so the room was always stuffy. I can honestly say I did not have 1 good nights sleep whilst there.

Also there is disgusting pornography on the TV channels. When I mentioned that any child could see this the staff did not seem to care. I certainly wouldnt want my child to see such disgraceful images.

Breakfast was held beside reception in a room with no natural light, and was very disappointing. During the 3 days I stayed they ran out of spoons on 2 days.

All in all very unprofessional hotel. Good location, but that is it. You can get better hotels for far less money in as good a location. Strong thumbs down

Great Value and a nice location for a walk to the Grand Palace.

from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed here with my family (3 people total) from 14 to 16 Jan 06. We booked our room over the internet and got the room (double) for 53 Euro a night. Breakfast was not included and it was 15 Euro a day. The room was decent size. It had the double bed, a couple chairs, TV, minibar, Hot Pot for tea/cofee, Ironing board, etc... It was nice to have a tub too! The room was big enough that we were able to set up the travel crib for our daughter next to our bed and not loose too much room. The staff was nice and helpful whenever we needed anything. The parking is under the shopping center behind the hotel and it costs 13 Euro for 24hours. We got a discount on the parking from the front desk before we checked out and it saved us 2 Euro a day. The hotel is across the street from the end of a busy shopping street that is pedestrian only. At the other end of the street is the Grand Palace. It took us about five to ten minutes to get to there depending on how many times we stopped to get a street-side waffle.

Very good hotel with a business class room

from vlau2
We stayed in this hotel during our Europe tour in August, 2005. We have 3 people in our party so the hotel give us a business class room with 2 double beds. The room is very spacious and have all the amenities we need. I think this is a business class room as it has scanner and printer in the drawer. If we bring a laptop computer, we can use the equipment for business. The bathroom has a shower and a bathtub. It is one of the nicer hotel room during our trip to Europe. The view of the room is great. We can see a lot of the city view in Brussel, Belgium.
Our tour included buffet breakfast in the hotel, so we enjoy the breakfast before we left the hotel. The food is good and it has many types of bread and ham. It also has scrambled eggs and boiled eggs. I enjoyed the breakfast and the luxury style setting in our hotel room. This hotel is located near downtown, Brussel. But we are high up (19th floor), so we don't hear any traffic or noise in the moring.
Overall, I think if you book the business class room, this is a very nice hotel.

Top Local Tips for Brussels

where to stay The immediate city center of Brussels can be pretty dodgy at night- apart from the *very* busy streets. Probably best to find a place in the upper portion of the town to the east or in Ixielles or Sablons.

use Do use the metro, and trams buy a one - three day pass much cheper than hop on hop off buses and a good way to see the limited sights of Brussels

Metro tickets On our second day we discovered that you only need one day ticket for two people (only 4 euros 50) the metro can be rather confusing but there is information in the main part of Rogier station (round the corner from the hotel)
