We thoroughly enjoyed our first trip to Brussels. Our weekend stay at the Royal Windsor Brussels hotel was both relaxing and luxurious where we used our room to recouperate from being enthusiastic 08.00 to 20.00 city-tourists. All facilities in the hotel were first class and we particularly liked the option to relax in the piano bar with a pre-dinner drink before moving into town for dinner.

Very clean. very orderly BUT when I stay at a hotel at this level I expected much more. I have no complaints but it didn't meet my LC (luxury content). Otherwise a wonderful hotel in a good location.

Safe was broken and didn't work, room was excessively hot and temperature could not be adjusted, front desk staff put of by "Americans" and the requests for help. Won't go back and I'm in Brussels once a month.

Historical Traveller Reviews of Royal Windsor Hotel

A definite choice

from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed at this hotel and couldn't have been more delighted. Rooms very spacious, clean and comfortable. Food in the restaurants was very good.
Located 1/2 block from Central Station. Also amid the lace and chocolate area, Sablon area and the most picturesque part of the city.
Staff was extremely helpful. Definitely recommend.

Nothing Royal about it

from ps12
After reading the reviews for the Royal Windsor, I was really excited about staying at the hotel. However, I soon found out this would not be a regal experience. We had a long wait to check-in, and when we finally reached the counter, we were told to return in an hour since the room was not ready (at 1:30pm!). Upon returning, we had another long wait to get the room key. Upon arriving to the room, we noticed we had been given someone else's room key so had to go back to the desk. Finally, we got into the room -- only to find out that the toilet wouldn't flush -- which explained the nasty smell in the room. Checking out was another ordeal -- waiting in a long line and getting to the counter only to be told 'can you wait another 2 minutes?' Also had problems waiting for bell staff to collect luggage. There are plenty of other good hotels in Brussels so if you have a choice, don't choose the Royal Windsor.

Best hotel in Brussels

Just got back from an amazing break in brussels- What a hotel- Deserves all of its 5 stars. Very central to everything- walk 10mins one way your at the cathedral 2mins the other way you are at the grand place, 2 mins further you can catch the open top bus! You get my drift... As for the hotel- breakfast it 26 euros.... box of pringles 4 euros. As you would expect from a 5* the prices are also 5*! Ladies the hairdryer is actualy fairly powerful- so leave yours at home- unusual for hotel hairdryers i know!! (frizzy hair- nightmare on hol unless i have powerful hairdryer and straightners!) Brussels as a city is great- probably would struggle for something to do if you are in the city centre there more than 2 days- I would reccomend a trip to Atomium (you dont realise how big it is untill you get there!) and Mini europe, both are on the same "site" 15 euros for both attractions. Easily accessible on the open top city line tour buses where you hop on and off the stops you want to visit, for 12 euros. Hope you found this helpfull!

Good Hotel. Great location. Ease to transport.

Great price, fantastic location

from garyho
At the risk of sounding like the other reviews here, if you're looking for a great location near the Grand Place, this hotel can't be beat. I got a terrific rate (about $100 with advance payment) through Expedia.
The entrance to the Central Train Station is down the block and across the street. Grand Place is virtually around the corner. While there are plenty of street people in the vincinity, too (like any large city), they won't bother you. You can walk just about anywhere you want from this location. The hotel staff was very helpful and provided good recommendations for restaurants and accurate information regarding directions and train departures. The housekeeping staff was also very cordial. While I can't comment on the Godiva rooms (I don't think I was in one - 3rd floor?), the room was functional, clean, and reasonably well-decorated; larger and more "elegant" than many hotel rooms I've visited in Europe.

Fantastic location

from Fifilamue
We chose this hotel because of the great deal from Expedia but also because of the good feedback from Tripadvisor. The location was great, minutes walk from the Grand Place, less than 5 minutes walk from the Central Station with excellent train services to the airport and for travelling out to Ghent and Bruges (a tip here if you're going to do lots of train trips buy a discount card for 16.30EUR it gets you a 50% discount on all your travel). We travelled first class everywhere for next to nothing easily recovering our initial outlay. Our favourite place in Brussels was the Place du Grand Sablon and again it was within easy walking distance of the hotel. We were disappointed when arriving at the hotel to find out that there was refurbishment work going on and allthough the drilling started at 8.30am in the morning it didn't spoil our holiday. I would stay here again without any doubt.

Lovely Hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
It is a nice hotel in the heart of the city. The room was a decent size, and the housekeeping service was wonderful. To make sure that you get what you want find the staff member who understands English well (you will see it when you ask them a couple of questions)

Excellent place to stay would definitely recommend it

from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed at the Royal Windsor over the August Bank Holiday weekend and what more could you ask for from a hotel, very centrally located just a walk from central station, and round the corner from the Grand Palace.
There were building works going on, on the 5th floor but we never heard a thing and they are due to finish at the end of August anyway. The breakfast is well worth having as well. Staff v.friendly and always willing to help. The rooms were very nice would definitely recommend this place and go back if we decide to go again.

Excellent location

Stayed at the Windsor during August bank holiday. Nice hotel in great location, few steps from the Grand Place but just off the busy streets.
Unfortunately, rudely woken up by drilling due to roadworks outside.
Rooms small but beautifully decorated. Overall recommendable.

Five Star Bargain

from A TripAdvisor Member
Great bargain on a weekend. Excellent location - 2 mins. from Central Station, literally a stones throw away from the Grand Place and the restaurant district. Was upgraded to Godiva Room and it did not dissapoint. I would definitely recommend this hotel particularly with the weekend prices.

Top Local Tips for Brussels

Comme Chez Soi Exquisite food. Outstanding service. Don't be overwhelmed by the wine list; if you look carefully, there are a lot of reasonably-priced bottles.

Eating Out Morrocan at the Kasbah and dinner ad Bonsoir Clara are a must!

Cheap breakfast at E X K I Although the bar and restaurant are all lovely, the prices aren’t. Save your Euros and nip round the corner to Exki for your breakfast and lunch. All fresh and natural food, very cheap, cosy and relaxing atmosphere and staff speak English. Try any soup, or tuna/tomato pesto/radish sandwich. Coffee is good too, served with a small chocolate square.
