I use to visit Brux from long time ago, 5 to 6 times a year.I always stay at Hotel President W.T.C. because it is a calm Hotel with an exelent serviçe were I feel as at Home. It is well placed near the center and quiet and calm, and the price is really convenient. It is dificult to say more than in the last 10 years I went more or less to Brux 60 times sometimes in business, sometimes in tourism and stay always in your hotel as I intend to do begining of next June.

4* I think not!

from errol84
Where to start....eventually found the hotel having looked for a hotel set in a scenic location-it was right infront of a noisy building site! Was greeted with a frosty reception upon check-in and received no welcome whatsoever. The room was not what I was expecting for many reasons-no mini bar, no tea making facilities, one thin cover for the bed, 4 coat hangers for 2 people, nowhere to put clothes away, the room itself had seen better days (maybe the 80's?) and to top it off the view from the room consisted of the hotels skip in the middle of the garden terrace! The sauna and jacuzzi weren't working and neither was one of the elevators both of which was not explained upon check-in. The breakfast was the only highlight and consisted of a decent sized buffet, not american style as I had been told however. The location was not terrible as it was a 5min walk from Gare du nord, however there were no restaraunts or cafes in the area at all. Walking back at night did not feel safe as all the offices were closed and the building site was looming infront of the hotel.
If the hotel had been rated as 2* I would not have been disappointed by what I discovered. It had quite a negative impact on the holiday and I will not be returning!

t Go Near It With A Barge Pole

from Janglyspangle
Well, where do I begin?
)Location. A good 1 1/2 to 2 mile walk to the Grand Place. Not far from the Gare du Nord but right in the middle of the business area. There are no restaurants or cafes anywhere nearby.
)This is by no stretch of the imagination a 4* hotel
)It most definately does not sit within it's own magnificent grounds in fact directly out the front of the hotel is a building site
)Room 4240, got out the left and saw executive level, excellent we thought! How wrong could we be......
)Our bedroom was disgusting - black, turquoise and white early 80's decor and carpet. (It was clean enough)
)No tea and coffee making facility in the bedroom
)Bathroom dated (It was clean enough), nasty hotel toileteries, most awful hose hairdryer thingy that became so hot you couldn't hold it and then the hose fell off (Not fantastic when you've got long hair)
)Breakfast. Adequate. Quite annoyed when I couldn't get the coffee vending machine to work and the waitress argued with me that it was working - it needed milk. Quite annoyed when I had to ask for a spoon, a cup.
)The Bar. Again dated, but quite nice. The barman was friendly the first time we had a drink. When we returned to the bar an hour later he blanked us and was actually quite rude to my husband.
)Now, as if all of the above is not enough, what annoyed me the most is that this hotel does have some beautiful rooms, I saw them when the doors were open, lovely furniture, bedding etc, so why did they make the choice to put us in what must have been the worst room in the hotel? I find it INSULTING that this is what my business was worth to them.
)Why did I not complain? Well basically because we were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary and my birthday. I made a conscious decision not to complain at the time. I did complete the hotel feedback form and left no stone unturned.
)I've stayed in Brussels before but at the Hilton City at Place Rogier. It is slightly noisier but much closer to the city centre and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Great hotel

from ADSH
I stayed here for four nights in July. Sure, it is a bit of a hike from the Grand Place, but the sun was shining and I enjoy walking around so it wasn't a real problem. Taxis from centre ranged from 8 Euros to 12 Euros late at night.

Not in a very exciting area at all and the park is actually a construction site.

I got a good deal for four nights for 90 Pounds including breakfast which was fine. Considering the tariff on the rom was 250 euros a night! Breakfast had lots of choice and all the things you would expect. OK the sausages were a bit wierd.

The room was huge and decorated to a good standard. The staff were very friendly, expecially the breakfast manager. They looked after my bags after I checked out for the day without any problems at all.

Would recommend this hotel if you can get it cheap.

We had a wonderful time

from Treaker
After reading the reviews we were scared to stay there. However, we had a very good experience. We stayed 22 nights.
The staff was very helpful, and everything we asked for was taken care of right away. We were given an upgraded room right away and a free breakfast (which we were not suppose to get - and it was great). The room was a little dated - but very clean.

Do not stay in this hotel !

from PaleB
We only had to stay for here for one night - chose it because of the misleading picture on the hotel website and the proximity to Gare du Nord. I fully agree with all the other negative reviews. The Hotel is a 2/3 -star at best. Really small and dated rooms. Be warned : Air Conditioning is not standard in every room and after much debate with complacent members of staff at reception had to fork out an additional Eur 25 to be 'up-graded' to an executive room.
Breakfast was dissapointing and left us with a lasting reminder of the poor standard of care and service that this hotel offers. If you have a choice I would strongly encourage you all to choose a different hotel. If not then you need to be prepared to be dissapointed

Good, clean and comfortable hotel

from nz7
We took a weekend trip to Brussels on the last weekend of June. I don't know why there are so much bad reviews on this hotel but I thought the hotel was good value for money. Location isn't exactly close to central Brussels but the hotel was clean and comfortable. Better than I expected after reading all the bad reviews. If you just after a room to crash at night and a clean room/bathroom is what you are after, then this hotel is it. Service from the reception isn't exactly great but I couldn't find any fault with the room itself.

O.K. for the money

from oxfordrocks
Booked through lastminute.com.
10 days for £492 including Eurostar.
After reading the reviews on this site I was a little bit concerned about the hotel.
It is a large hotel catering mainly for groups of travellers and business travellers. It is not central to Brussels (lying about 1-2 miles from the main square.), however it is close to Gare du Nord so handy for metro services across the city and services to the rest of Belgium.
The photo on the website is mis-leading, the park outside is being built on (work starts about 6.30 am).Work is also being undertaken inside the hotel (air-con is being installed).
The hotel is also located near one of the less salubrious suburbs of brussels, so there is no night-life close to the hotel that I could reccomend.
Our room was large and clean, we were very happy with the hotel in general.
I would reccomend the hotel to travellers who would use it as a base to explore Belgium, I would not reccomend the hotel to anyone wishing to sample the heady delights of Brussels bars and clubs (hen nights+stag parties)

t make the same mistake as we did!

from cpa497
This hotel was a disgrace from start to finish. To start with there is no way it is near 4 stars, even though this is the classification given on websites. The hotel is very large and has some classy surroundings in the foyer, but the rooms are not clean, the service is terrible, the prices are ridiculous for what you get, and location is just okay.

Very pleased with experience

from gran24
A two night stay was part of a package we purchased last minute. After reading the reviews, arrived very skeptical. But from beginning to end, we could not have been more pleased: lobby was beautiful, staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and efficient. Our room was on the executive floor; very spacious, extremely clean, very comfortable bed. Breakfast was way above average and the staff were very good at making sure the buffet was continually filled. We do enjoy walking, and did not feel unsafe or witness unsavory characters, even though returning long after dark.

Not Recommended !

from LLaffer
First room had hairs on pillow and in bathroom. Most disgusting, there was a big brown spot on one of the towels. Moved to another room.

Second room was ok. Hair on additional pillow from the closet. Heater did not work. The radiator supplied but didn't really help.

Both rooms were in a condition not expected from a 4*-hotel (chipped furniture).

The sauna advertised was not open (operated by a third party). Further, there was an extra charge (it was not free of charge as suggested in the hotel description).

The breakfast buffet was good. though.

Our complaints were not taken really serious. There was no manager on duty (at 5 PM!) to take our complaint on the first day.

We checked out after 1 night (we had originally booked three nights).
