Little to fault
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe hotel is a typical Marriott, very comfortable with excellent bed but decor a little bit bland and lacking in individuality. Excellent staff, friendly and efficient which is not always the case in Brussels hotels.
As I only paid 103 euros for bed and breakfast for two people, I thought the value for money was excellent. This was from Marriott's own website so no prepayment was required.
I would definitely stay there again as the proximity to the best of Brussel's nightlife and the excellent price are hard to beat.
As good as it gets.....
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe location is fantastic, literally up the escalator from the Bourse metro stop and a minute walk from there. I suppose the only downside to the location is that there is a McDonalds underneath the hotel but that really is a minor niggle. At this location you are 3mins from Grand Place (amazing), 5mins from Mannekin Pis (ok) and 10mins from just about everything else. The metro is fast and efficient in case you want to explore the Heysel area with the Atomium (great) and Mini Europe (pleasantly surprised).
As for the hotel, it really is up there with the best I have stayed in. We didn't notice the small rooms (as posted below) ours was well above average size with a king and sofa bed. There was an iron and board, hairdryer, mini bar and plenty of wardrobe space. The bathroom really stood out, it was massive and very clean. Probably the best I have seen on my travels.
The reception area is lovely and the staff very knowledgable. They even allowed us to check in at 10am in the morning, which is great considering check in time is normally 3pm.
Our rate £55 per night included a sublime buffet breakfast which was top notch as well.
It was very quiet in the hotel as expected, I would say occupancy must have been below 50% but of course I might have just missed people!!!
Brussels was nice, and very accesible from the UK on the Eurostar. If you are going I would certainly consider staying at the Marriott, you won't be disappointed at all.
Excellent in Every Respect
from A TripAdvisor MemberI have stayed at a few superior hotels over the years and few meet the extremely high standards of the Brussels Marriot. The bed linen, towels, etc are changed every day. The quality of the food is first class. The staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful. A week end stay of 3 nights including breakfast for 2 persons cost 95 euros per night.
Who else in a 5 star hotel can beat that. From now on this hotel is my benchmark.
Fantastic
from MaxUKThe staff in all areas of the hotel, from reception, restaurant, housekeeping etc were friendly and very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.
I was lucky to be have a room on the executive floor which meant unlimited use of the gym and executive lounge. The lounge was a great place to relax enjoy some drinks and high quality snacks (non of that mixed peanut stuff!).
The rooms were clean, spacious, and tastefully decorated.
The hotel is well located in the centre of town with easy access to everywhere.
I got a special rate of €103 which included breakfast.
A taxi from Brussels National airport to the hotel costs nearly €40 but if you are travelling by train it will only cost about €10 from Garde de Midi.
I would definitely recommend this hotel.
PS - The Renaissance Brussels hotel whhich is part of the Marriott group, is just as good, but is situated in the business area and therefore not as convenient for sightseeing as the Marriott. However, everything else that I have said about the Marriott applies to the Renaissance.
Excellent!
from A TripAdvisor MemberGreat European experience!!

from travellerfromatownt find any fault
from A TripAdvisor MemberWhat made this hotel fantastic was the location. Its walking distance from anything you could want to do or see in Brussels. It can be a bit dodgy, but that is to be expected downtown in any major city. There has to be 50 restaurants within a 5 minute walk. (the seafood is exceptional in Brussels by the way)
Would return in a heartbeat!
from PJPILOTSpent, unfortunately, only one evening here.
Outstanding location, two blocks from the Grand Plac. In excess of 50 restaurants off Grand Plac, of every size and description. Concierge most helpful; rooms large and airy. Got an excellent rate on the web, including a fine buffet breakfast.
Spent the next night at the Hyatt Regency in a residential district. Thought the Hyatt would be equal to the Marriott; the Hyatt shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. Our Hyatt experience was DISMAL.
EXCELLENT

Miscellaneous Info I studied the journey from Gare du Midi to my hotel, but somehow ended up on the wrong tram and in an unsafe area when i arrived. I found my way out and before it got dark, and I'm still not sure what went wrong. If this happens to you, head for the spire (which is at the Grand Place). I did purchase a ticket for five journeys for €6.70, which seemed a bargain. I tried to go to Musee Horta but there was a queue out the door on a Sunday afternoon (when it's open only 14.30 to 17.00) so i took photos of the exterior and went away. It's not easy to find and is far from the Metro at Louise/Louiza. There are a number of hotels in this area, though (between the Metro at Louise and Musee Horta) that looked more to my liking. There is a village-feel to the area and you have the sense that Brusselinians (?) live and shop in this area (I walked down Charleroi toward the museum, there were NO signs.)
Bring your french vocab book for some of the smaller unique restaurants. When going to some of the less touristy bars and restaurants, the menus can sometimes be in flemish/french only.
Belgian Waffles You have to have a Belgian Waffle easily purchased at a kiosk along the way. Cheap treat.
