We enjoyed several nights there in October and the staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Our room was spacious (the elevator tiny). The restaurant was a "9" for service and cuisine for dinner. Our breakfasts were a "10". We were able to walk to the train station to spend a day in Bruges. Well located and very clean. We'd recommend the hotel highly.

Hotel looking good at the outside. Location OK, near a major railway station and near the Grand place. Reception and staff OK. Room was pretty OK as well. However, it was midsummer and hot, hot, hot. The room did not have climate control. Temperature rose to 35 degrees, I didn't sleep a wink that night.
First thing for me to check in summer is the presence of climate control. That is my first and absolute priority.

Top Local Tips for Brussels

Trams We mistakenly got on a tram when we first arrived with luggage etc - not a good idea, as the trams are very overcrowded and there is very little room and definitely no room for suitcases. Also we got on the tram going the wrong way and spent longer on the tram than we had to. We found the Metro system very good/efficient and easy to follow. Brussels Midi Station is huge and for the first time traveller to Brussels, rather confusing.

Public Transporation Passes You can purchase passes at any subway station for however many days you want, and you can use these on the subway, trams, buses and it will save having to fumble for change and money for fares everytime you want to go somewhere.

Brussels can be complicated Get an English map before you come to Brussels (if you're English or English speaking) . All the street names are in French AND Dutch / Flemish. Also, if you get a chance, bring trainers and walk - it's smaller than it looks on the map (still quite big). |Coming from the airport to the centre - get on a train - they run from the airport (level -1) every 15 mins or so and cost 2.7 Euros.
